Upset at myself for not coming here any sooner! I got my first club sandwich in Spain and it was so good!!!!!!! Legit good! My kids had some nuggets and hamburger and they were good. The couple next to me ordered nachos and those looked delicious! I wish more people gave this place a chance! It really feels like a diner inside!

They have been told about this and many other Yelp posts I've submitted these last few weeks!! Ate here recently with friends. They are picky eaters like me, and after walking by and seeing a lot of other diners sitting outside eating their paella which looked very good, we decided to sit and order too. Because of the good weather, we all decided to sit outside but tables weren't available. They took the time to bring out another table just for us, and real wooden chairs (which the other diners did noit have). They were very busy so as you can imagine, we waited to order but we hadn't decided yet so it was perfect. Right off we ordered the mini-pan of paella, along with a half-plate of fried puntillas, which are baby squids and a favorite of mine. A half-racion of this was perfect for us three, and we ate it up within 10 minutes. We also got a bottle of manzanilla, which was brought out with a bucket, which was hung off the side of the table. The paella was later served and it was well done and very decorative. Nobody complained and each one of us three was able to eat a good sized plate and have seconds even!! Good food and great personal service which was noticed and appreciated!! I'd return with friends again! Note that Casa Raul is located in the section of Calle Mina where it's at its narrowest, closest to downtown Rota. When people walk by, they will be within a foot of your table and chair! They also have an outdoor refrigerated display of their fresh fish, so you can choose and have it cooked especially for you! This busy venue has both indoor and outside dining wrapping around the building. Delivery drivers were continuously grabbing take out meals for delivery throughout our visit. Some vegetarian/vegan options but nothing specifically for vegan diners. I ordered french fries, salad, and pizza (yeah, that's not vegan cheese). I'm not sure about other parts of Spain but I didn't find anything in Rota/Cadiz to be particularly friendly to vegan diners. Families filtered in and out for the evening after a long day on the beach to this restaurant which is located just one block up from the waterfront. Busiest from 7pm to 10pm, customers waiting to be seated formed a line near the restaurant entrance. Tables are easily pushed together for large groups. With a limited menu of soft drinks, juices, beers, and wine I had one draft beer and one Tinto de Verano (a bubbly citrus/red wine mix) which was very refreshing on a hot summer night. Very affordable, I had half a pizza to take home as well as the remaining half of the salad I finished the fries and two alcoholic beverages for 21 Euro. Generous portions of fried rice, burgers, and sandwiches were coming out to tables around me. Definitely check it out!

We finally managed to squeeze behind all them and we grabbed the last table in the back. One guy was serving the dining area and was hopping. He briefed us that only churros/chocolate and montaditos (like a panini sandwich) were being served. Like most of the people dining that night we got their famous churros and chocolates. Since we sat near the fryer, it was the perfect opportunity to watch them swirl around the dough in hot oil to make their spiral shaped churros. The plate of torn up churros was delivered hot and a little greasy. The dipping chocolate was smooth and just coated our churros as the must have side. However the churros were a little more oily than I preferred. Our montaditos came last and were right sized for us. Bread was grilled and a little crisp with generous tuna or jamon inside. It was a nice counter to our churros. Overall reasonable prices and lively spot for a quick meal or just churros.
