HK style pork Hk Style Porkchop
    Heather T.

My go to place whenever they are open during Sunday mornings! For sure a go to for cheap breakfast. I love the HK style porkchop. I order without the garlic on the rice in which they put a lot of. Can always order over the phone or in person wait time 15mins or less depends on the day. Definitely hole in a wall in the area. Have to be a local to know where to get breakfast for champs! 10/10 every time for the HK pork chops. Take out only and CASH ONLY at this spot make sure to pull cash before picking up or ordering. That's the only thing you have to prepare for when you come to Gateway.

Still a solid three. I guess for the price point. Huge serving of rice. 1/3rd of the size of the pork chop you'd usually get at superstar. This plate I got today tasted like nothing, no seasoning whatsoever. Which I'm used to, subtle flavors but this in particular literally had no taste at all. My pork chop tasted like a breaded piece of cardboard. The garlic rice tasted like plain rice with fried garlic on top. The pineapple even tasted old and had no flavor. The fish I got barely had that fish flavor and wasn't even salty like how it supposed to be. I was better off eating a cup of ice than this meal. So make sure you have some patis or vinegar or something to dip your food in and sprinkle some salt lol

NOTE! This place only does takeout and only takes cash. I ordered the longanisa silog which came with two pieces of longanisa, one egg, some pineapple, and garlic rice. The longanisa was good and I thought it was interesting that they added pineapple pieces. The garlic was kinda burnt ngl. There was also such an abundance of rice left over that I didn't know what to do with lol. But honestly for $7, you cant beat that. My issue with this place is that the business hours here are inconsistent. I tried to come here two other times during their official business hours but they were closed... Anyways... try it out if you like. :)

They hook it up, don't want to miss this stop. Fire portions with amazing taste. Affordable dining and quick reliable customer service with very friendly staff. They will do you right!

Gateway Kitchen is a place I didn't know I needed until now! This restaurant is strictly cash only and takeout and they serve silog. They do it well and are definetely generous with the portions. I ordered the HK pork chop with loganisa on the side and it was piled high on top of a mound of garlic rice. The over easy egg and the pineapple chunks were a nice and neccessary touch for the entree because it can get a bit dry. I'd recommend adding some kind sauce to the rice to help balance it out, luckily they did have a table near the window with a few options. The space inside is small and cramp, but the staff are all focused and worked effeciently to tackle the long line of orders. No matter how busy it was inside, the chef in the back warmly welcomed and thanked each customer as they walk in. It is a simple operation, but they clearly care about what they do.

Gateway Kitchen at 6165 Mission St is a total legend. I first ate here when I was 12, and coming back now at 35, the food is still the best Filipino food I have ever tasted. The flavors are just as incredible as I remember from over two decades ago. The service is super warm and friendly, making you feel right at home. The ambiance has that classic, nostalgic vibe that makes it a real hidden gem. This place will always have a special place in my heart. 5 stars!

Honestly, this hit the spot! Wow. The options are so cheap and delicious. I tried the longanisa and the HK style pork chop. Both cost $16 total including tax. We split the dishes. The garlic rice was stellar, with amazing crispy pieces. The pork chop was flavorful and the longanisa was juicy. Loved that they give you pineapple too and a fried egg ! What a gem! I'd try the other dishes. The staff were super nice too and they were quick.

Having eaten Superstar and Gateway within the same week, I can confidently say that the HK Style Porkchop at this location is just as good BUT it does not maintain the same level of crispiness. This location is also cash only with street metered parking.

This is quite a busy hole in the wall for locals, I wasn't able to find parking so I parked across the street in a plaza and walked over. There was a line out the door but it went by quickly, people are just there for takeout. This is a small, casual, cash-only establishment that offers affordable prices (a plate is less than $10)! I ordered the HK Style Porkchop that came with garlic rice and pineapple chunks. Unfortunately, my rice came with slightly burnt garlic bits and the porkchop was a little dry and quite bready. Overall, I can't complain because of the price. If I ever come back, I'll order a different dish.

Wanted some Filipino silog for breakfast that doesn't cost an arm and a leg so we ended up here. Street parking and to go only. This place only takes cash so we ended up going to the laundry mat to use the ATM. We also called in our order and they were super fast at getting food ready. They definitely perfected this craft. 5 star because they met all what we expected, cheap, hearty and quick grab and go food. Taste is not bad (yes I have had better) but for the plates ranging $6.50-$8 its good. We did like the hongkong style porkchops, that might be my favorite from here. Will come back again if in the area and craving some silog.

I have lived in the city and slept on this Filipino restaurant! My close friends have been eating here for years and I swore I never heard about it and they sure did made me wake up to their food! They went beyond the -Ilog breakfast movement! Hear me out 2 fried pork chops, and a mountainous garlic rice then one medium over easy egg, and pineapples for side fruit. This had me screaming of whaaa?! I mean it's good and fried to perfection crisp! The batter was perfect. The pork chops were still delicious without being hella dried up like you would think. The rice with the garlic toppings was good but I felt needed something more to it because I'm used to the three ladies jasmine rice like I felt their rice was bit dry even when I added the egg...all I needed was some sauce for the pork chops. Like vinegar mix or Jufran banana ketchup to the chops. The pineapple was a good after dessert with the pork chops and the meal. All in all my friends made me a fan of their food! Don't sleep like I did!

I live 40 minutes from Gateway Kitchen, but still make the drive at least once a month because I am always craving their HK style pork chop. The price is unbeatable for silogs and everything is absolutely delicious! I get a HK pork chop plate with a side of tocino and it is enough food for two meals. The garlic rice and egg are great as well. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out if you are craving a silog (:

The staff were welcoming, and the food arrived quickly, but the real standout here is the incredible value! Every plate comes with a generous serving of garlic rice, all for $8 or less I had the fried bangus, which was perfectly seasoned and deliciously crispy. Next time, I want to try the pork chop or tocino, but the fish was flavorful and satisfying. Just a heads up: their hours can vary, so it's a good idea to call ahead. Also, they only accept cash, and it's takeout only.

Been here twice and it's been closed. Any one know what's going on?

Are they still open been trying for 2 weeks?

    Is this place permanently closed?

They are open I just got some great food from them 2 days ago ❤️❤️❤️

Are they still open? I been calling everyday and no pick up.

Yes they are open. The lines are long which is probably why they don't pick up. Call in when they open to place a phone order.

Have they closed down? Went last week and closed and just went this morning as well. No note or anything but closed sign is up. Thanks!

I just went today and they're still closed up. No sign still

But Suily's Cafe has a unique way to serve it. They serve the hot soup and the deep fried won ton dumplings separately. You add them as you eat, and they stay crispy. The thick soup was loaded with egg, tofu, cilantro, mushrooms, and green onion. OMG, the soup was boiling HOT! I had to gently sip it. Then gradually I added the crispy won tons. Wow, the ten dumplings loaded the bowl. These plump won tons and the thick soup made for a satisfying meal. Price: $12.00, serves 1-2 ppl. Yes, I would definitely return if I was in the area. Most Chinese restaurants will accommodate a guest request so long as they have the ingredients and they know how to compose the dish. How they work out the pricing may be something else. At the table immediately behind my mom, I heard the guest ordering a Hot & Sour Soup, add Won Ton. One of my favorite mash-ups! We ended up having a very nice conversation over lunch. Of course, we ordered the same soup and the price they charged was a reasonable $16.95. I've had some places try to charge me for two soups which I think is ridiculous. We also ordered a Seafood Chow Mein and a Chicken Dry Fried Chow Fun with Yau Chow Sum. All three dishes came out nice and hot. The flavors were on point very satisfying. I goofed and didn't a picture of the Chow Fun because it came out last and I was already tucking into my Chow Mein. Mom enjoyed it so we'll be back!

No water, just pure concentrated flavor. The restaurant gets its name from simmering, one of the essential Chinese cooking techniques, and you can taste that philosophy across the whole menu. The Dry Pot lived up to the hype, but the real surprise was the skewers. Beef, lamb, and chicken, intensely flavorful and rich. I can't stop thinking about them. The potstickers were also way better than expected. Usually a throwaway order at most places, but here they were juicy and packed with flavor. The beef pancakes were fantastic. Golden and crispy on the outside, juicy flavor bomb on thes inside. Both crunchy and a little chewy (in the good way). Came back a few weeks later with friends and ordered the whole grilled fish, which I'd been eyeing since my first visit. It looked magnificent, but it didn't really pop the way the other dishes did. If you love fish it's worth trying, but the dry pot, skewers, beef pancakes, and dumplings are the stars here. We also got a few veggie dishes which were all great accompaniments...but nobody is here for the veggies. A few practical notes. They have a beer tap but it doesn't work, so if you're into beer, they've got a few options by the bottle. Parking is easy since it's in the Serramonte Center, and you can combine it with a trip to Jagalchi, Target, or whatever else you need. Both times I came there was plenty of seating. I'll be back soon, and next time I'm getting the dry pot with their handmade noodles.

I get restaurants may need to cut costs by using cheaper ingredients or cutting down portions, but this is just false advertising. As for the food itself, every dish was either too salty, too sweet, or too bland. Service was good but the food quality has dipped drastically and the cheerful interior that used to be filled with cute cat murals has been replaced with a really drab aesthetic that makes the food feel even more disappointing.

They are located in a strip mall near several different food places, bakery, and a bowling alley. This is a solid dim sum place, with no frills and reasonable prices. You order off a printed menu that's in Chinese with tiny English subtitles. You can also order off their regular menu if you want to supplement the dim sum dishes. Their food is very good, and some dishes were excellent. The service was pretty quick, and before we knew it, all our dishes were out with almost no room on the lazy Susan. The standouts for me were: + Steamed custard buns (piggy buns) - I ordered these for the kiddies, but dang they are so good. The custard filling is so velvety, it's almost like pudding. I think I detected a hint of coconut too - yum. + Beef chow fun - this had a really good wok flavor and the noodles were less wide than most. The noodles didn't clump either, and the bean sprouts were still crispy. + Roasted pork belly - the skin was so crispy and the pork was juicy. We ordered most of the basic dishes like har gaw, sui mai, noodle rolls, turnip cake, stuffed eggplant, chicken feet, etc. and they were all above average. My only complaint is if you don't read Chinese, the menu is a little hard to navigate. The English subtitles are so small that if you're looking for something, you have to scan the front and back of the menu trying to find the item. I was looking for sticky rice in lotus leaf, but found sticky rice roll and thought it was the same thing. It wasn't. The sticky rice roll was not bad, but I found the rice drier than when it's in lotus leaf. We ordered a few things by mistake because the English subtitles were not that descriptive. Overall, a great alternative to more popular places like Koi Palace. The menu may not be as creative as Koi, but you don't have to deal with the lines and you still get great food.
