Lovely Public park off the freeway. Our family stopped here for a driving break and we all enjoyed it. Multiple playgrounds, walking paths, ponds, shaded pavilions and restrooms to use - all free of charge. We didn't patron the Golf Course but it looks nice from the distance. read more

So we stopped here on a trip. I saw reviews and figured it was pretty decent we could stop, let the dog out and the kids play so they can get their energy out and we can eat lunch and then continue. Heed the warning, it was a very sketchy park. It's a very pretty park, but getting there you are in a sketchy looking neighborhood. We went to the pavilion to sit and eat lunch. Two teenagers (17-19 y.o.) came with a pitbull puppy (6 months) asking if we wanted to buy it for $2k. We said no thanks and they went on their way. There was a random guy sitting by himself on the other side of the pavilion. When we sat down to eat, one of the boys came back and sat on the other side of the pavilion, then the one with the dog sat RIGHT next to us (there were a ton of empty benches) and the other boy came to sit with him. Both looking suspicious. My husband and I packed up quickly and left since it was very obvious they were being weird. As we left I did notice each picnic covered area in the park had one person sitting there the same age. It just screamed sketchy all over it whatever activities were going on at this park. Also there were no kids there. It was a Friday at 2pm school was already out. Please be careful. read more

Best gem in town. This is a fun open course that's ran by Lagoon. Easy to walk and play. Most of the time it's not crowded and you can get in and out fast. 9 holes is fun any day of the week. Good play to practice your game. Highly recommend. read more

This is a nice clean park with a free public golf course. The only draw back is that the golf course is only 9 holes. It's got a club house where you can buy drinks and rent golf carts and escape the heat, a playground, and walking trail. read more

Gateway Park and Public Golf Course - The clubhouse - Golf Near Me - Montgomery, Alabama

We happened upon this park because we could see it from the highway (route 65) on our way down to Florida. We decided it was a perfect stopping point on our way back to Alpharetta, Ga from the Destin area, so we packed a lunch, ate it at one of their covered pavilions, and let our five year olds run amuck on the playground until they were red in the face. Bathrooms weren't great, but did the job. If you are going to stop from the highway, it's right off of exit 168. The second photo is a close up of the playground and the first is the view from the highway, so you can see how close it is from it. It's just one right and a left to get into the park from the highway. read more

It is an open sunny park with a golf course, a track for walking/running, lodge, a small lake for fishing, and a playground. Whenever I am in Montgomery, I run here, but there isn't much shade from the Alabama heat. It is a Westside gem! read more

This a great park to stop at. I have been a few times on the way back and forth to Louisiana. It has a nice trail and its very pretty. For the most part it is clean and feels safe. They also have bathrooms by the softball field. Most of all its convenient to the highway so that is extremely helpful for my travels. read more
