Gators & Friends is not just for children because it was just my wife & I and we had a really nice time for a few hours. There was a wide array of animals to see such as Scottish Highland cows, Kangaroos, Fallow Deer, Alpacas & our personal favorite was the Ring Tailed Lemurs & of course plenty of Alligators. Although we must've missed it but they have Gator feeding times daily & if you're into Ziplining that's available as well. The staff is friendly & helpful as well as a fair admission price of $15. I'm not going to lie; I didn't think I would enjoy this place as much as I did. I'm not a big fan of zoos in general because I get bored. However, I go because it's a great place for kids. This place was fun and had a different experience. It was definitely more enjoyable with our kids, though. If you come here, it really adds to the experience to buy the feed and have you or your child feed the animals. There are a lot of unique animals to look at. I also think that the number of exhibits is perfect. There aren't too many to where you feel like you have to rush or spend an entire day there, and not too few that makes you think it isn't worth it. They also have a time dedicated to feeding the alligators, which was neat to watch. In addition, there is a really cool photo shoot op with a baby alligator in front of a backdrop. The alligator's mouth is taped, so you don't have to worry about fingers being bitten. haha My two little boys actually held the alligator and weren't afraid! As a mom, being able to take that photo was awesome! It's perfect for memories and makes for a great souvenir. read more

I brought my 89-year-old patient here to push around in a wheelchair to see all the animals thinking that she would have the best time . We were charged $35 for myself and her and one cup of food . When we went outside we realized we could only go around the Gators because it was wood but to see the rest of the animals you have to go through the rocks . I could not push her through those rocks we got so far and it was so tough we had to turn around and go back . So it is not wheelchair friendly and we did not get to see all of the animals and when I reported to the staff that the place was not wheelchair friendly they said oh sorry about that have a good day . We thought they should have at least offered a refund on our admission but oh well lesson learned we won't go back and it's not wheelchair friendly for those who are handicapped read more

Kids loved feeding all the animals we even got to hold a baby alligator. Feed is cheap and you can get refills. They have deer sheep goats kangaroos llamas and even a zebra plus more. read more

We took our 3 year old and two 2 year olds and they were able to walk around with ease and we never felt like they were unsafe. They had so much fun as did we! The animals lack care. There are WAY too many gators together in one space. Missing feet, swollen and injured legs, a few so skinny they look like death. The workers said they get vet care, but I don't see how with animals in that condition. When they were feeding, she would dangle it in front of them and make them jump, three of them fell into the wooden fence trying to get the food. Every goat needs their feet trimmed. Some so bad they are curling under. The ponies are were saddled waiting in the sun the entire time we were there and the sheep need to be sheered. It is still summer. The alpaca and llamas need their feet trimmed badly, and one of them has a fungal infection on its face. I talked with several employees. They all claimed the best care. I saw no one outside cleaning pens, filling water, or education patrons. It is obviously a money grab. Akin to a tiger king situation. They have go carting and zip lining for christ sake. read more

What a fun time! For $2.50 you get big feed cups and you can walk around feeding goats, deer, kangaroos, llamas, alpacas, zonkeys, a massive Scottish highlander, and more. I even went back and bought more feed, because it is so fun to pet the animals as they come up for food. There is a very cool, scheduled alligator feeding. Also there is the opportunity to pet and take pictures with a small alligator as well. I enjoyed my trip very much and got a lot of laughs at the Scottish highlander. He might be my new best friend! He is worth the trip alone. The only drawback is you can't go into the pens with the animals like you can at some petting zoos. The staff was very kind and they look like some hard workers. It isn't a huge zoo but it is good for a morning trip for sure! read more

It's a nice shaded area to feed the animals. Some of the animals seemed to need some grooming or sheered. Not an animal expert,but one of the kangaroos seemed to have an eye injury or infection. Their snack shack is closed and they do not allow outside food and drinks. I understand why that is around the animals, but a separate designated picnic area would be better. There aren't an awful lot of things to do in the Shreveport area , but this is one of them, and it is a good one. This attraction is a bit of a throwback from the 1970s era of attractions. I'm going to use the word cheesy, but I use it as a term of endearment and as a compliment. There are more alligators in a small area than I have ever seen in my life. And I've been to a lot of places that have alligators. Walking around the property and watching the alligators, and seeing them all converge when it is feeding time is a sight to be seen. You can also hold a small baby alligator, and have your picture taken with it this is also another worthwhile experience. You can get a cup of animal feed, and when you walk the grounds there are many animals that you can look at and feed by hand. Some of the animals that I recall being there are boats, llamas , cows , camels , and maybe a few others. This is kind of a Cheesy petting zoo, and the alligator part is a little bit on the cheesy side too. This ladies and gentleman is good cheesy though :-) The other part of this attraction is zip-lining. The zip lining is an absolute blast. There are seven different ziplines you can enjoy, and if you are unsure about doing all of them, you can stop at 3 and enjoy the rest of the attraction. In sum, the price is right for this place, the attraction is really neat, the staff is terrific, and with the upgrade of ziplining, this makes for a perfect afternoon for friends and family alike. Friends?! Who are we talking about here? I'm not sure alligators have many friends. They don't even seem all that chummy with each other from the looks of it. I'm not sure the edible furry creatures that surround the gator swamp would consider the gators to be their friends either. Anyway, getting past the ill-conceived name... It's well landscaped, decently shaded and the animals all appear to be in good condition (with the exception of a few alligators missing paws and claws, but who knows how that happened). Beware the greedy goats. They *will* snatch the entire cup of feed out of your hand. I had to chuckle when I saw that some well-meaning soul had dumped their cup of feed next to a giant gator. Listen, people, gators eat flesh, not feed. Save that stuff for the cute deer, llama, and baby camel. As I wandered around this little zoo/park, I found myself feeling a bit sorry for alligators and their lack of buddies. But then I got over it. After all gators are cold blooded creatures who'd probably eat me anyway and I'm not so sure I'd even feel too guilty to wear a good pair of shoes made from their skin. Had a nice visit at Gators & Friends on Saturday! I've visited many roadside animal parks in my life, and I felt like this was one of the better ones I've seen. If you're like me, sometimes you walk away from similar places like this, or even some large commercialized zoos, feeling sad for the welfare of the animals, and I did not get that feeling here. Most of the animals had adequate space and they are all well-fed. I thought the deer and the goats had exceptional habitats. I can't say everything was absolutely perfect, but Gators & Friends was closer to that goal than other similar animal parks. I would have given 5 stars if the ring-tailed lemurs had a more interesting enclosure (for their mental stimulation & enrichment, not my entertainment) & if the capybara had a swimming pool. Capybaras love swimming & need large, adult-sized pools (not kiddie pools). Overall, this is a very good attraction for kids & school groups. We didn't bring any kids, but we had just as much fun as anyone would! We barely managed with one large feeding cup, so if you have kids, I would definitely spring for two. If you bring back an empty cup to the front gift shop, I believe they will give you half off your second feed cup. You can feed all the animals except the gators and the ring-tailed lemurs. read more

This place is amazing! It's a great atmosphere and the animals seem genuinely happy. It's really heartbreaking when zoo's do not properly take care of their animals but this place is not like that. It's toddler friendly and even older kids enjoyed it. They have wagons to rent for only $1 to tote the little ones around in. The pony ride is incredible! It's not just tied up ponies going around in circles. You actually get to walk the 1/4 mile track with your kids. It's really cool! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and talked about the history of the place as well as interesting facts about the animals. Really great price for all that you get! read more

Rent wagons 1 dollar Me as an adult got in for $10.50 Gift shop and drinks prices range from a dollar to 35 dollars. Zip line is there didn't do that though still kinda myself for not. I like the place will come again, from Columbus, Ohio as a traveling trucker. Columbus Zoo is awesome but this set a new level for a petting zoo that specializes in gators. read more

What a fun last minute detour on the TX/LA border!! This facility has alligators yes, but the petting zoo part was the best! It was so clean and well maintained.
