Off the path locals spot. Food was good. Wine was good. Enjoyed the desert. Staff was nice. Lots of locals while we were there. Almost didn't think they were open. Glad we checked the door as we were early. read more

(That will teach me not to be so wary of large shopping centres!) Probably the largest supermarket in the town, it's light, bright and packed with (almost) all one could desire (at least in the supermarket context) I was especially impressed with the fantastic selection of freshly-cooked, vacuum-packed vegetables and pulses. I loved their deep, dark, green spinach leaves and chick peas (so different to their canned counterparts) - a great time & energy-saving route to taste and freshness. The range of fruit and veg were also brilliant here, along with a vast and diverse deli section. Also, a good place to visit, for a comprehensive health & beauty choice and for tantalising little authentic local goodies to bring home for gifts or treats.

It's particularly good for top quality, very well-priced fresh fruit and vegetables - with a choice of salads (ready-packaged and/or by weight) that I only wish were as easily accessible closer to home. Also brilliant for fresh nuts and dried fruits. This fairly spacious branch additionally has a deli counter, with lots of enticing ready-prepared mains, side dishes and regional specialities - plenty to keep both veggies and carnivores happy and well-fed. Staff are very pleasant and helpful (although it's preferable if you can communicate in Italian); they're quite briskly efficient though - especially close to lunch-time - when they close for a couple of hours break.

In fact, we were always afraid of going in and dealing with such sour individuals. Most of the renowned and best-known Italian brands are stocked here. The deli counter has helpful staff, who remain relatively patient while you try to make your choice from some (potentially) unfamiliar items. Even bread is sold freshly sliced and by weight - I grew to love their unsalted rustic, ciabatta-style loaf (much tastier and more versatile than you might imagine). There is an amazing choice of Ricotta (prepared from different milks) and plenty more to encourage you to become an adventurous foodie. There is also a small, useful choice of household items available. However, step just outside and plenty more can be found - downstairs (using the separate entrance) - along with a wider range of toiletries, crockery, books, clothing (not much to get excited about in the fashion stakes) and miscellaneous sundries (mostly house-orientated).
