Tucked away in an alley way in the heart of downtown, Gaufre's offers a unique and unexpected pairing of authentic Greek and Polish cuisine. The cozy interior set the tone, and our servers were cheerful and welcoming. We started with ice cold Polish beer while deciding on our meal. The beer was served in perfectly chilled glass with a thin layer of ice which was a great touch. We shared a Greek salad to start. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, generously loaded with insane amount of feta (no complaints here). For the main, I got the Kielbasa special which came with 4 pierogies (you can mix and match the fillings), Kielbasa sausage and sauerkraut. The potato&cheese pierogies were my favorite, subtle in flavor, perfectly textured and tasted like true homemade comfort food. The sauerkraut was also hands down some of the best I've ever had. Sadly I have no room to try desserts. This was the best meal of my entire trip, and I'll absolutely be back to try more dishes if I'm in town. read more

Gaufre's & Goods is a place we couldn't believe he had never been to let alone heard of so when we were visiting and walked by we had to try it out and glad we did. Gaufre's & Goods is tucked away down a back street so if you're not looking for it you most likely will miss it. We came in for a late lunch but were not looking for something super heavy so this was perfect. I started off with a Hevelius Kaper Beer which I really enjoyed. They also had a lot of other Greek and Polish beers that I had never heard of so you gotta try one. For my entree I originally was going to go with the Gyro but then I saw that they have Goulash which I very much enjoy but rarely can find it. Our food came out pretty quickly and I was give a large bowl of Goulash as well as some fresh bread. Ashley of course went with a Mix of Pierogies and added bacon & onions to it. My Goulash was very flavor and dipping the bread in the broth was great. I will say it was thinner then other Goulash's I have had. This was more of a broth base where I enjoy a bit of a thicker stew type. Still something I would recommend getting especially with the limited option we have in the area and this will hit the spot. Ashley also did get a order of Blackberry Pierogies that I never got to try since she ran off with it after we got back to where we were staying. This was probably the best meal we had in St Aug. And definitely the best polish food I've had in a long while! The sauerkraut and kielbasa was amazing. I love that the meals come with pierogis so you can get a taste of both. The inside is kind of small so you might have to wait a couple minutes but well worth it. Now I am the type of person that is basically craving pierogis 24/7 but not all pierogis are crave worthy. I am very pleased to say these were absolutely pierogis worth craving! You first walk into the charming place from an alleyway off one of my favorite streets in downtown St. Augustine.. Aviles Street. Once inside you immediately realize how special this gem is.. and you have not even had the food yet! We had a variety of pan fried pierogis, topped with onions (you can add bacon too!) and sour cream. The Horiatiki salad was so good with tons of feta and ripe tomatoes. The Greek salad was also very traditional and tasty. Lentil soup was special.. but the Yemista was so full of flavor we may have to go back just for it again. This was such an awesome little find tucked away in an alleyway, the only reason we knew about it was because our trolley driver mentioned it was his favorite restaurant in st augustine. It was a chillier day so pierogis sounded amazing! We started with the Greek sampler platter that had tzatziki, eggplant salad, and hummus as well as olives and tomatoes. It was served with warm pita and other types of bread SO GOOD. We also had the grape leaves which were extremely tasty with feta, tomato and onion. I had their borsch (theirs was warm) with beet cubes and mushroom dumplings OUTSTANDING. For mains, i had the blueberry pierogis which were so unique i had to try. The only problem is they are pretty sweet they come with sour cream but also whipped cream and brown sugar. Still delicious but i wished i chose a cheese and potato. My friend had a stew that came with 4 savory pierogis and she really enjoyed it. you can tell this place is authentic! Waiter was quick and helpful. Expensive for what you get. $75 for three people. Gyro wasn't lamb, pretty sure it was grisly pork. The food is always really tasty. We've been here several times and it never disappoints. I ordered the stuffed cabbage platter that comes with pierogies. I ordered the plum sweet pierogies and they were the most delicious tasting pierogies I've ever had. My husband got just pierogies and was not disappointed. My youngest son ordered the kielbasa platter and blueberry pierogies. He said the sauerkraut was the best he's had! My oldest son had the hunters stew and loved it too! What a great little find & he knew Greek food & Polish food could work well together. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in a rustic cafe back in old country. It definitely fits the food style. What a small place this is. But great food. Was here about a month ago on a mother and daughter trip. Found it by accident and we were hungry! It's on a tiny street, and so cute. We ordered a appetizer with different food items like stuffed cabbage, a olive spread that I really enjoyed. I can't remember the other items but we both enjoyed everything on the plate. We also had champagne to celebrate mother and daughter! Hit this place up! It's a Portuguese and Poland food! Very friendly too! Definitely have to bring my husband here. What a hidden gem! We only found it thanks to typing in "lunch near me" on yelp while in the Ancient City today!!! Gaufres is like waffle in French, Radi our beautiful server is from Bulgaria, and on the menu you have favorites of people who may be Polish or maybe even Greek? We should have asked more questions, bc there are pages of Polish, Hungarian & Greek foods, plus a wonderful regional wine and liqueur list as well as some lovely hand - painted bottles of cordials and liqueurs on display & for sale. And if we could have nibbled on one more item after the shared lunch that was more than we could eat, the desserts in the case all looked heavenly, from baklava w/wo chocolate, baklava cheesecake, & cookies to Polish cheesecake and more! We ordered glasses of crisp light white wine from Serbia/Herzegovina regions. Then we decided to share a bowl (cup would have sufficed!) of the Hunters Stew, and a dish called Golumpki Combo: 4 different homemade pierogies stuffed with meat, potato, sauerkraut, & spinach. All were delicious and I know my husband will love his favorite sauerkraut stuffed. Radi told us that 99% of everything is prepared and made in house; the bread is from a local bakery. We ordered a variety of food. J had a special that included a Greek salad, coconut chicken soup and spinach pie. The pie wasn't quite flaky enough but the flavor was good. Nice Greek salad and soup was flavorful. The real star was what my fellow dinners got. A Omni that included stuffed cabbage (gonna dream about that) and pierogis. You could pick your choice of pierogis and hands down some of the best I've had outside of my friends Swedish grandma. The portions were huge. Bottom line, it seems that their reputation exceeds their product. Our lunch entrees were sub average as was the Basque cheesecake.
