My sister had a policy with Jerry Scheltens Insurance (now Flinsco) since 2014. I contacted Theresa Davis who worked as my sister's broker and who became the manager of the office location, in Daytona. My purpose was two fold: renew insurance coverage and have a claim for a $10,000 piece of equipment adjusted and paid. My hopes for quick renewal were dashed. It took 40 days and 20 telephone and email contacts to receive new coverage--not a renewal--and our premiums--set at $550 for approximately 4 years--jumped to $720. Regarding the claim: despite having records of payment for premiums, a certificate of property coverage, and a report from the local Fire Marshall verifying the loss, the claim was denied. The insurer--not the broker (Ms. Davis/JerrySchltens/Flinsco-- indicated they had no records of coverage for that time period. Funny, I thought: I had all of the records. Theresa Davis assured me more than two weeks ago that she would "speak to management/supervisors" to address this, but two weeks have passed and my email requests for information have gone unanswered by her. Twice I have tried to secure the name or names of Ms. Davis's boss to seek resolution. Twice, employees have directed me to her instead. So despite having trusted this company and Theresa Davis, for years, I see that now that my deceased sister's trust was violated. As the 3 month mark fast approaches, my claim, which Ms. Davis herself acknowledged as legitimate, remains ignored. You can find a better insurance broker.
