Grom makes really really yummy gelato. I love arriving in a totally new (to me) city to find a Grom there ready to meet my gelato needs - it's much more efficient than trying every other gelateria in town hoping to stumble across an exceptional one. That doesn't mean I ignore the other places - I love getting a recommendation from a local for the finest little mom-and-pop gelato shop in town, too. There's room in my heart (and belly) for multiple gelato suppliers. Favorite flavors include dark chocolate (cioccolato fondente), salted carmel, and pistacchio. We were getting a bit desperate and we find Grom a bit uninspiring so we stumbled on this place and if you're a chocolate lover especially as it relates to gelato, look no further! My son loves straciatella (chocolate chip) which strangely enough they don't have so the woman took their fior di latte and then went to their dark chocolate fountain and added a bunch of chocolate. I saw one that said coco which I thought meant cocoa powder and it turns out it means coconut. I generally hate coconut but it was actually really good! My impression is that the coconut was fresh or at least high quality. Also as a flourish they put the cones underneath the dark chocolate fountain which made them taste that more delicious. Also for you chocolate lovers out there some of the flavors of chocolate gelato were single origin (e.g., Peru) and had cocoa percentages (like 70%) A fabulous place for high quality gelato!!
