Sitting in a light and breezy spot on Crown Street, you'll find an awesome range of clothes, undies, bags, scarves and jewellery. One of the main reasons I miss living in Surry Hills is this store. It's one of those old faithfuls that you can pop in to on Saturday afternoon and know it'll have exactly what you were after to wear that night. It stocks a really great collection of accessories, which I've used as gifts for friends many, many times. The jewellery range is lovely; there are plenty of long silver necklaces and cool cuffs to choose from. Also check out the cute purses and great bags. When the Darlinghurst store first opened, the owners sourced local fashion labels to fill the racks, but soon after they decided to start their own line, Alice Underground. The designers have a very good sense for what their customers want - the clothes are well-fitting and flattering, at reasonable prices. Definitely worth a browse!

Their rings and necklaces are chunky and tend to air on the side of costume jewelry, but taking after some of the best designers such as Betsy Johnson, haven't we learned lately that when it comes to accessories more is more? If it's a frock or jacket you're after, the styles in here are constantly rotating. They definitely mimic the Australian trends in higher-end department stores, but charge a fraction of the price. I recommend if you're a shopper on a budget, swing on in to Eden and see if you can't have a "forbidden fruit" experience.

Swimming costumes and lingerie can also be found here, as well as a consistent sales rack where you can grab yourself a serious bargain. The sales assistants are really friendly and were once kind enough to hold onto my friend's iPhone for a few hours after she accidentally left it in the change room after trying on clothes. That's true customer service. Whether you are after a particular brand or just keen for a browse, Elvis 4 Cleo is a great place to stop into. The lady in the store is very friendly and kind. In the half hour I was in the store I saw her help every customer that came in. I had a really nice experience with her when I went to buy a present for my sister. She always finds it hard to get her sizes. It was only because of the persistent of this lady that she ended up buying her dress. She r5eally made an effort to find all dresses that could fit her and really look good on her, also choosing different accessories to with the dress. She did have a very good sense of style. Ultimately when she found out that this was a dress for her birthday, she even offered us a 105 discount . We were both very happy customers and will definitely go to Elvis4Cleo again.

With its classic white shopfront and catchy little name, High Tea With Mrs Woo breathes a bit of personality into that particular stretch of the Paddington shopping district. There's little not to love about the styling and theming in Mrs Woo, except for maybe the prices. Florals and lace abound, as well as some special home decor and gift items. I particularly enjoyed the stationary sets with rubber stamps fit to create an invite the queen herself wouldn't be able to turn down. I've seen the merchandise elsewhere, but it does fit nicely with everything else in the shop. I have to say I was a little disappointed, however, that the store wasn't more unique. Its outward appearance made me some strict promises that it couldn't quite keep. But not to say it wasn't lovely. It was quite nice, indeed. Whoever Mrs Woo is, I might very much enjoy the opportunity to have tea with her some afternoon; especially in the backyard garden of her darling little shop.

The clothes are described by the owners as "charming, thoughtful, and everlasting" which is an extremely apt description that you'll be able to verify once you step into their store. Aside from their unique clothing, they also offer accessories, homewares, and ceramics that are in line with the store's philosophy. While other clothing stores are stacked to the nines full of clothes, this store has elegance in its design and setup. Shopping here is a novelty that you'll rarely experience in stores nowadays and you'll leave happier because of the excellent products they offer.

A friend of mine enthusiastically recommended it to me and said I must, must check it out. So check it out I did. I found some very interesting, "out of the norm" garments in here. I was told afterwards that most of the shop's styling is European, which makes a lot of sense. Lots of quirky pieces fill the racks, most with interesting embellishments or asymmetrical necklines. I was drawn to a patchwork and lace cardigan, but had to catch my breath after realizing it was near the $300 mark. Not that it isn't worth it, I just didn't quite see it coming. If you're after shoes, jewelry or accessories, Standard Store has a few options here, but not a ton. They are definitely taking a minimalist approach to stocking the shop, but there's probably a sales tactic here that I'm just not aware of. That or the rest of their European shipment is being held up in Australian customs.

The Standard Store just opened in September of this year in a little heritage building in Surry Hills. It's the flagship of the Flying Standard Distribution agency, which sells various European brands. When I walked in, there was just one employee who was helping the only other customer in the store. She didn't even glance my way to welcome me or ask me if I needed assistance, which is surely not polite service. The store itself is cute, minimally decorated, and reminded me of a miniature version of Urban Outfitters (though much more organized). Their inventory of clothes is quite small, but they do carry basics like shirt, jeans, and shoes. I saw less than ten different brands in the men's section, though there appeared to be a bigger selection for women's apparel on the opposite side of the room. Sifting through the clothing racks, I saw $150 striped shirts and $300 cardigans. I like how they carry uncommon labels, but that doesn't detract from the unjustifiably high prices. Despite liking several things I saw, I can't picture myself rushing back here for any reason.

U Turn has a pretty wide selection, mostly colour coded and ranging from cute yellow sundresses to slime green sequined padded bras/tops with nipple tassles. Fact. The rack that hosted the mosted for me was lined with one piece swimsuits of all shapes and colours, from strapless leopard print to '90's padded checks, paisley flowing floral numbers and fluro striped black catsuits that I'm pretty sure I once owned. Most of these were priced around $25, and whilst the smell of chlorine that clung to them deterred me a little (on top of the facts that a) it's almost like buying second hand underwear and b) I daresay years of wear has led to severely see-through swimmers), I feel an imminent purchase in the not so distant future. I've found a few good buys from U Turn in the past and if you've got the time to look hard enough, you can often find something pretty nice for pretty cheap - the last dress I bought from here was only $30. They also have a small selection of slightly (read heavily) worn shoes and some stellar handbags. The staff here are occasionally willing to swing you a deal if you're spending a bit too. NB: Heaps cooler than the Rozelle U-Turn store.

U Turn obviously carefully select their stock, providing a mixed selection of 70's and 80's fashion. Lots of old jumpers, leather jackets and loud shirts. Their focus seems to be more towards women than men. Although I did find a hat I liked, I don't think I have enough hipster in me for U Turn to entice me to purchase, but based on the crowd in many Sydney clubs, they could be a goldmine for twenty something's in Sydney,

To my utter surprise every rack had something or the other that was worth having a second look.
