    This review is long over due! We've been a loyal customer of Eric since the 90s. He epitomizes customer service through and through. I will drive 115 miles to see his jewels, If you want a knowledgeable, very thorough, very detail oriented, creative jewelerwho is a straight shooter with not a lot of yak yak yak, then you need to see him. Very friendly, honest and overall a sharp (dressed) man. Give him a try he will not disappoint, Tell him Veronica sent you.

    We have had the good fortune to work with Eric on two custom projects. About a year ago, he very patiently guided me through a spectacular remake of my wedding rings for our 30th anniversary. Over the past 6 months, he helped my out of town Mom re-imagine a very special peridot ring my Dad had originally given her over 50 years ago. Both rings are beautiful and uniquely ours. We appreciated Eric's guidance with stones and design and his patience as decisions were made. It was above and beyond anything we expected.

    I found Eric from a local FB group, everyone raved about the personalised service and he did not disappoint. My engagement ring and wedding band were both missing stones, Eric was able to quote me rough numbers on the spot and I felt so comfortable leaving my rings with him. They took a little longer than we both hoped to come back but it was so worth it. My ring looks amazing and I also feel like I left with a better product than I went in with. Eric, we are lifers now!     Do they do rhodium plating?

    No idea but a quick phone call to the owner Eric will get you in the right direction. He is the only one that works there and I have seen his wife there helping him. If he doesnt do it I bet he will send you to someone who does.

I told him I didn't see a sign and where was I supposed to go, he still insisted on still standing in front of my car yelling at me, I told him he didn't need to yell from inside my car instead of calmly stoping me coming to my window and just simply telling where to go. Clearly this guys is lacking customer service. I'm a very understanding person when it comes to customer service since I'm a person that wants to be kind to people in that type of job but not when they are being ASSHOLES like him. I get it gets busy and getting people in and out quickly but customer service is still very much needed in this place.

They have taken…read morestellar care of our daily and heirloom jewelry, and they haven't increased their prices over time. l live in NW Phx now, but I continue to make the drive because they are trustworthy, polite, and friendly (no matter who is there)! Sometimes they are able to fix something same day, and they polish up my wedding bands for no charge. I do find their estimated repair times are inaccurate (LOL...because they always call 3-7 days SOONER than anticipated!) :D One other thing I like a lot is that if you see one of their custom pieces, they put it in the system under your name (like a registry)...in case your special someone wants to surprise you. If I ever leave AZ, it will be hard to find another jeweler like Barnes!

My husband wanted to stop in to take a look at what they had in jewelry as he was buying me an anniversary gift. We were also going to check out their gold and coin purchasing program as I had inherited a coin collection from my father .It said online that they opened at 10 AM. We were sitting out in the parking lot area and saw what we believe to be one of the owners showing up AT 10 AM. In my personal opinion if you're open hours start at 10 AM then you should be open and ready to do business at that time. We walked in about 10:05 AM as we wanted to let her get in the door (and someone followed her in). We had to buzz to get in. She was already saying something through the speaker at us, but we went ahead and walked in the door. Without any greeting she said I won't be ready for 10 to 15 minutes ! Why don't you go over to Starbucks and get a coffee! And then said "Do you have an appointment?!" We immediately turned around and left! Her tone was rude, she could've addressed it so much differently like could you please give me a couple of minutes? Everything seemed abrupt. Like we were putting her out because we wanted to come spend money at her store. I have not needed an appointment to look at jewelry for a possible purchase anywhere before. Needless to say... I will not be walking through their doors again. We already had another jeweler that we use on Alma school and Queen Creek Road area that we've been more than happy with for purchases and repairs! The only reason I gave two stars is because of the previous gentleman who took care of my watch issues.

An approximate one-week delay was never proactively communicated, which ultimately meant I didn't have my ring in time to wear it to my husband's birthday celebration on St. Patrick's Day. That was disappointing. I had high hopes for Walt's, local jewelers are a rare find these days, and I was looking forward to building an ongoing relationship, starting with a pair of cultured diamond hoop earrings. Unfortunately, the communication experience has changed my mind.

When we returned to…read moreArizona, a friend recommended Walt's, so we brought the ring there to have a new setting made. Initially, the ring came out beautifully and my wife was very happy with the result. However, after a couple of years, the band started chipping, so we brought the ring back to Walt's for repair. After they had the ring for a couple of weeks, we went in to pick it up and immediately noticed the diamond was not positioned the same way it had been when we dropped it off. It was clearly crooked and had been changed from its original position. My wife tried to explain this to Cheryl, but instead of listening to our concern, she insisted it was our issue. She repeatedly told my wife that because the diamond has a unique cut it would always appear crooked. The problem is, the original jeweler at Walt's had the diamond set perfectly the first time, so we don't understand why it couldn't be done again. What made the situation worse was the tone of the conversation. When a customer raises a concern, it shouldn't be met with someone speaking down to them. For over a month now, we have asked multiple times to speak with the owner, Javier, but we keep getting the runaround. On top of that, we asked them to have the ring appraised while it was there. When we received the appraisal back, the ring was significantly undervalued. The carat weight was listed as more than a full carat lower than the actual diamond, and the clarity and color were also incorrect. When we asked why the appraiser didn't request our GIA documentation, we were told we should have brought it ourselves. As customers, how would we know that was necessary if no one asked? Lastly, while my wife was there looking for a 10-year anniversary band, she felt like she was treated as if she wasn't worthy of being a customer. Ironically, she ended up purchasing a beautiful $8,000 band that matches her ring set. At this point, we are having another jeweler correct the issues with the ring, and possibly even create a new setting because we've lost confidence in Walt's. We have asked repeatedly to speak with Javier, but the staff says he is in the reserves and they never know when he'll be in the office. It's disappointing that a business would handle customer concerns this way. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere going forward.
