Routine Roman Catholic parish. Not very friendly. You could attend this church for 50 years and…read morenever really meet anybody or have a single intelligent conversation with anybody. This church is in a collaborative with a couple of other parishes. Lately, the priests have changed fairly often at this parish. Right now, neither super-progressive nor super-conservative, but that could always change. The place clears out immediately after mass and the ushers lock up quickly. The church is locked much of the time, except during the school day it's sometimes open. Decent acoustics, but the music all sounds like it's intended for kids. The building tends to be clean and well-cared for. Somebody usually shovels the walks in the winter. Decent parking. There's a small lower-elementary school next door and the parish seems to revolve around it.

I am the youngest son of the late Rev Frank O. Kruger who was this congregations pastor from…read more1953-1959. (At that time he would have been age 40-46). My dad passed away in 1989 at age 74 from Chronic Congestive Heart Failure. He was very active in the Dowagiac Community and was very much a servant leader, extremely humble and never seeking recognition for all that he accomplished in such endeavors as what I refer to as the United Way. He led the small congregation in expanding both membership and adding onto the church property with a new education wing. I have very fond memories of living in Dowagiac from ages 3-9 and attending Justice Gage elementary from Kindergarten to 3rd grade.
