Went in for 4 slices and 2 beef patties which normally costs $21....chick told me it's $25 now because they started charging tax....I'm not paying that these people just raised the price from $3 to $3.50 and now they want even more....greedy ass people gonna go out of business. This place is a big deal. One of the last standing real Italian bakery(now also pizzeria) in Sunset Park.Lovely people and very attentive behind the counter. I visit this bakery and pizzeria every time I visit NYC. The food is delicious and the staff are SO nice. Seriously, the atmosphere is classic Italian with all the warmth of a family-run business. I don't know if it is or not, but that's how it strikes me. Every staff member in the bakery greets me and wishes me well when I leave and thanks me. I feel so great supporting this business and even better about stuffing my face with their delicious pizza and baked goods. Well established Family owned bakery in Sunset Park Brooklyn. The area may change but this doesn't, it is truly an old fashioned wonderful bakery. She (the owner) is just a darling. Soooo friendly and helpful. I had a sesame bagel with butter, and it was perfect! Recommend highly! read more

This bakery have a 4 star review... so I decided to order a cake online and get it delivered for Father's Day. And it was just a plain cake no "happy Father's Day" writing on it. It's kinda disappointing that I paid so much for the cake and the taste is weird. We got strawberry shortcake and pineapple but it's like jam in between the cake. Stopped by with my friend because she wanted to pick up some Italian bread. The staff greeted us and was patient while we looked around. Their displays were lined with so many yummy looking desserts I had to try one. I got a cream puff and it was decently sized. The pastry was really good! Came here after reading a few Yelp reviews. Place is old and dimmly lit. Display showed a vast array of Italian cookies, breads, but not a lot of selections on pastries. Got their Chocolate chip canolli, and their huge Almond Mazapan Cookie. The Almond cookie tasted really good because of the size it took me two days to completely finish the cookie. This is my new neighborhood bakery. I've been looking for one ever since I moved 8 blocks more into Sunset Park, and I've been craving that almond oil flavour. I have a sweet tooth for Linzer Tarts, Rainbow cookies, and Butter cookies with sprinkles - basically anything with raspberry jam! The prices are great and I never feel like I'm OVERindulging or paying an arm and a leg {who the hell wants to pay $4 for a cookie at Starbucks when I can get half a pound of butter cookies???}. One of the only Italian bakeries left in Sunset Park. When you walk in, you are greeted by a lovely old Italian grandma who says, "GOOD MORNING." When I ask her what's good, she says, "EVERYTHING." Like the service, the pastries are sweet, but not overly sweet. Since discovering this bakery in the midst of Mexican restaurants of Sunset Park, I can tell it is very special. It delivers all you could want from a bakery like Veniero's, but it doesn't have the hype surrounded it. This keeps the prices low and our bellies full. After selecting a series of cakes, I must say I cannot choose a favorite. The strawberry shortcake was very rich, almost like a wedding cake. The strawberry jelly enhanced the flavor of the butter cream just a bit. The tiramisu was perfumed with liquor and had traces of salt and other spices. The chocolate mousse was light and airy and full of flavor. The cookies are fresh and delicious. This Italian family definitely knows what they are doing and have been doing it for years. read more

I walked past this bakery several times, but never would have thought to come inside. One holiday, either Thanksgiving or Christmas, my sister had bought a cookie gift set for a friend and she also bought one for the house. I usually don't like the italian butter cookies (2 cookies sandwiched with jam in between and chocolate dipped ends with sprinkles) because they're dry and just blegh. But these cookies were delicious. One day I will have the courage to try their cakes. I'm afraid the cakes will be blegh, but I guess I wont know unless I try.....hey, my birthday is coming up soon, so why not!!! *Update*...I have tried their cakes and they are very moist. I went in to order two cakes today. I went early in the morning. It's a small little shop. I'm due to pick up my cakes Saturday. They're pretty busy so I hope the cakes come out great. They're very kind and generous. They took their time to take my order regardless of the length of people lined up to get their morning coffee. I hope all the reviews are true to their taste buds. I say "a-ok" because it's my first at this bakery. It's an old school Italian bakery and affordable prices. I bought 2 items, total cost of $5. I bought an Apple Strudel and Almond Horseshoe-shaped cookie. the Apple Strudel isn't too sweet. The pastry is flaky. The filling has chunks of apples. It's decent compared to other apple strudels from various sources. The Almond Horseshoe-shaped cookie is ALL almond paste. However, it seems they blended the paste with a little simple syrup. It's a huge cookie made of almond paste, so you might want to ration it out. The exterior is studded with sliced almonds. The texture reminds me of coconut macaroons. There are seats and tables so you can sit there and indulge. Also, it has machine to make cappuccinos. read more

I love going to this bakery, went this morning. I go maybe 3 times a month. I believe he is the owner of generous, today he severed me, he always pleasant, there pumpkin is $12 he gave it to me for $10 how can you say no to that. His wife is another plus, she smiles and very much willing to help, there son even waited on me b4 and he to was great. Today I got 2 Apple strudels, 2 huge Apple turnovers, 1 blue berry muffin, 2 large butter cookies w a cherry in the middle and of course my pumpkin pie. Altogether at another bakery I would probably pay $40 or more for everything but at generous I paid just a little $20. There bakery is so good I even got my mom going there to by there sugar free cookies for the seniors she works with, which she said they all love. The first time I ordered from here it was great. The food was amazing, the order was correct. The second time I ordered, it was a disaster. First, I got a call informing me that they were out of the type of bread. No big deal. Then my order arrives, the sandwich is missing! Apparently they didn't hand it to the delivery guy. Okay, they said they would have him bring it. No big deal, I just made myself lunch and figured I'd eat the sandwich later. The delivery man then comes and brings the sandwich. I'm not mad, I even tip him a second time for making the trip twice. Then, I unwrap the sandwich and it is completely room temperature! Even the mayo looked like it had been sitting for the 2 hours that it took for me to get the sandwich! I wasted $9:50 on a sandwich that I had to throw in the trash anyway. Generoso's Bakery has the perfect name. They're very generous when they make your hero sandwich. Well over an inch of roast beef in my hero! The people there are very friendly and want to make your food just how you like it. Also, excellent cannolis. Make sure you're hungry when you go! BTW, they do deliver local, $10.00 minimum. Really loved the butter cookies dipped in chocolate. Have tried other places in the neighborhood but they fall short. This place is offers fine Italian treats, but the selection is not very large. Probably the only Italian bakery in Sunset cause most other places around are Mexican and the flavor is really oily or extremely dry in these places. Five stars for the rainbow cookies alone. They're moist, decadent, full of rich almond flavor. When I bring them to gatherings folks from all over the city tell me they're the best rainbow cookies they've ever had, by far.
