I had a balayage and haircut scheduled that was supposed to be a three-hour appointment. My GPS unfortunately sent me to the salon's old location, which was my mistake for not double-checking. As soon as I realized, I called to let them know. I would have been 15 minutes late. Rather than being even slightly accommodating for a long service appointment, they immediately marked it as a cancellation and charged me 50% of the service - $90 - despite the fact that no service was provided. The complete lack of flexibility or understanding was shocking. Charging someone $90 for a navigation error is pretty poor customer service. Policies are one thing, but this felt unnecessarily rigid. read more

Had a terrible, horrific experience at this salon and was so upset that I got into my car and bawled my eyes out for about 15 minutes before I could even try to drive home. I asked the stylist if she could do this certain cut. I showed her multiple different pictures. I asked because not everyone is able to do pixie cuts. I have had my hair cut pixie cut before and I wanted it cut that short again. She assured me she could totally handle it. I also told her, I have realistic expectations and that the pictures are just as guides because I understand it's not as simple as copy paste. I explained several times to her that I wanted the back and side tapered with clippers to achieve the best look (as I know my hair from previous experiences). She did not listen to me, instead kept using scissors. Then all of a sudden, one wrong angle cut of a section and it went downhill from there. She just kept trying to fix the gap, then even the gap, until it was totally chopped and uneven. The way the stylist treated me after she messed up my cut, and then proceeded to tell me that I would need to get out of her chair (incomplete) as her longtime client, who always tips her and, I quote "extreeeeeemly extremely well, Including gifts", was waiting and she didn't want to keep her waiting. I was sat in the dryer area until the manager could finish with her client to finish (and try and salvage) my chopped hair. I wanted to leave then and it took so much for me not to bust out crying, but my hair was so awful and needed to be attempted to be fixed so I held it together. The manager did her best and at least had my hair looking somewhat better. It was still very uneven. Even with the bad haircut I would have been fine, I know hair grows back. It was how the stylist made me feel, like I was inconveniencing and annoying her by being there. As if I wasted her time. Once the manager was done, she walked me to the front. (At this point I had been there over 3.5 hours for a haircut). I could see my original stylist in her mirror from the front desk. I'm deaf in one ear and I am able to read lips. She literally was talking trash to the stylist to the left of her about me "Yuck! Can you e'fn believe that?! Are you effing kidding me, ugh". Then she realized I was looking at her and she immediately turned her back to the mirror. Again, I can totally deal with a bad haircut, but the way she talked to me, treated me, and then talked about me when she didn't realize I was there was very very hurtful. I still paid the 90$ and gratuity because I know she has kids...even though I regret it every time I look in the mirror. Please, if you're going to be in services like hair; be kind you never know what someone is going through and this whole situation really did hurt my heart. Even just finally being able to type this over a week plus a later because I have been so depressed about this whole situation. Even now I get upset, and want to cry. I just don't want anyone else to feel or be treated the way I did. read more

Looking for a salon in my neighborhood. Genesis is convenient in the Shoppes at Webb Gin and had me curious so I called and was glad to get an appointment within a few days. I made the appointment online through an easy process. The scheduler texted me some clarification questions and we were good to go. Parking was easy to find and there were lots of shops and restaurants to consider when I was done. The staff was very friendly, offered me a smock for the color process and sat me in the chair quickly. My stylist was great at asking questions about what I was looking for; color, cut, length, etc. before moving forward she confirmed pricing so there were no surprises. Stylist was efficient, friendly and did a great job. I walked out very pleased and will be back! read more

No complaints about my hair whatsoever, however the customer service is terrible. The only stylist who specializes in curly hair has cancelled on me 15-20 minutes before the appointment on two separate occasions which were months apart. I recently had to get my appointment moved to the next business day. They were cooperative and put me with the highest level hair stylist at the salon. The haircut was fully covered, which was very considerate. However, this top level hairstylist spent 15 minutes gossiping about another customer about how she was old and her haircut was very outdated. On top of that, she cut my hair and then asked one of the receptionists to blow dry it because she had to tend to another customer during my set appointment time. I have never seen or heard about an instance like this in my whole life. My hair looked great, however, this behavior is unacceptable, especially from the so called highest level hairstylist in the salon. I will not be returning. read more

Have been going here for years to get my hair color and cut. I have had such good experiences with all the different stylists I have seen. I usually see a level 4 or higher because my hair can be difficult to work with. Everyone there is so friendly and attentive and work with you to get the moon you are going for! I had roots when I left the place and paid $101!!! I gave them 2 stars since it's not totally destroyed.. my favorite part of this experience is they charged me $17 extra for extra color (I was orinally okay with that as I have long thick hair) but I find it pathetic that I paid $17 extra for color when I leave with roots!!!!!! After they were "done" and I said something about the roots. They told me there was no way to get the roots with foils. I've been getting my hair done for about ten years via foils and the hair stylist can get the roots. I feel like if you knew I would be leaving with roots they should have said so prior to starting! I attached pictures. Maybe I'm the only one but I go to get my hair done to get rid of roots! Come Monday the manager calls me to tell me the hair stylists she has working for her all have a variety of approaches to doing hair and this hair stylist just wasn't a good fit for me! After perusing Yelp for salons in the Snellville area, I made a last-minute appointment for my boyfriend to get his hair cut late on Friday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that Genesis was able to give us a same-day appointment. The salon is located in a popular Snellville shopping center near the pizza place Your Pie. My boyfriend had his appointment with Presley, who listened carefully to his requests and even asked him to show her example pics of his preferred haircut. I was a little concerned at first because she was not familiar with the style my boyfriend was going for (samurai cut) and because she looked so young. She proved me wrong though, as she gave him a great cut, shampoo and style while patiently checking in to make sure she was on the right track. His hair looked great! We definitely plan to return to Presley for his future cuts. Overall, a nice, clean salon run by a pleasant group of stylists. We will be back! read more

Moved to Georgia about a year ago and I had been going to Van Michael salon, my stylist while being very nice just never got my cut right! I am so happy I looked on yelp and went in to have Jaye cut my hair! She listened and asked questions during the cut to make sure that I was comfortable with what she was doing and even had me run my fingers through it to get a feel for the weight, length etc. If you have a pixie she's the woman you want to go to! read more

She also credited me back to make the haircut $26, but also told me that at the discretion of the stylist they can charge men $26. Bad business to leave it up the each stylist to say well this guy can afford $40 so I'll leave it there. Pass on this place. Deceiving price structure that was never explained upfront. $40 for a not so good guys haircut is outrageous! I am happy with my haircut by I am not happy the comments of my hairdresser (Christine). I have longer, thicker hair than her usual clients and so my haircut + shampoo + blowout will obviously take longer than their usual 45 minute spot for clients. She said next time I come back I should wash my hair and straighten it before I come. I have never been told this before and find this ridiculous since I am paying for the service. I wanted an Indiana Jones styled haircut. This should have been very simple knowing that all you have to do is part the hair and cut the front. My front was already short and they still took a ton of hair away. They also over trimmed my sides. On another note, the prices were unreasonable $40 for a slight trim! I could have gotten a just as good if not better haircut at Great Clips! I have never heard of a $40 men's haircut. I will know where not to go to get a haircut now. read more

I requested for a level 4 stylist. I'm not sure what logic is used to categorize stylists into these levels but this girl was not a level 4, more like a level 1. She cut my hair uneven and never told me to sit up straight or fix my posture to ensure my hair was being cut evenly. She never looked to see if my hair was uneven. This place wasn't even busy on April 6th and she seemed to rush through it. WTH! She cut my hair in an angle and never did I once say that I wanted an angle bob haircut. Great! Now I have to deal with this and hope that my hair grows back soon. Hair is a sensitive matter, people!!!!! Also, I can't believe I tipped her 20%. I think her name was Cecilia or something with a "C." Do not request her or agree for her to cut your hair. If possible, I would suggest demoting her to a level 1. read more

I visited the Genesis Salon this past Tuesday. I have naturally curly hair and had not had my hair cut by a salon for years due to bad experiences. I had a major job interview the next day and wanted my hair to look nice. Unfortunately this was another bad experience. I asked my stylist (Emma) to cut my hair dry. The first thing she did was use a plastic paddle brush and rip it through my hair, root to tip, to the point of where I could hear my hair breaking. Also, this defeated the point of cutting my hair dry as you could no longer see the curl pattern. Honestly, I should've walked out at this point, but the salon and the stylist had told me that she knew how to cut curly hair. Hindsight is 20/20. Next, after cutting the length, she asked if she could wet my hair in order to cut the layers. I agreed, since brushing it had already made it a frizzy un-cuttable mess. She then continued to man-handle my hair and scalp with her nails. She squeezed the excess water out of my hair by twisting it. She cut my layers, used a leave-in conditioner meant for straight hair and I left, declining a blow dry that would further damage my hair. When my hair had dried all the way and I saw it, I almost burst into tears. Overall, I had lost about 5 inches of length, on one side of my head, the layers were about 4 inches longer than the other side and no part of my hair was even. I ended up scheduling an emergency appointment with Martha Gustafson at Salon Disegno where I had my completely butchered hair fixed. She did an absolutely wonderful job and gave me all kinds of neat products and coupons to take home. I will never go to a Genesis/124 Salon ever again and will recommend to friends not to, either. My stylist should have admitted off the bat she had no idea what she was doing and referred me to someone else. read more

This past week I had an appointment for cut & partial highlight with Nicole, but unfortunately she got sick. :( I still needed to have my hair done that day though because I had 2 Christmas events/outings this weekend and desperately needed my hair done for them! Bad,very uneven haircut, I am at another salon one week later and they said it was really sloppy and uneven. My stylist was pregnant and sick so I just kept my mouth shut when she had to leave and rushed through my cut.
