I was diagnosed with a breast mass, and fate lead me to the Palm Beach Breast Institute, where I met Dr. Gardner, a brilliant surgeon, who has spent his life researching breast cancer! He isn't just another doctor, who diagnoses and treats his patients, he is a talented breast surgeon whose research, innovative surgical techniques, and knowledge of breast cancer makes him the kind of expert you should look for if you are diagnosed! Before I scheduled my appointment, I asked my general practitioner what he thought of who I had chosen. His response was, "Dr. Gardner is a world renown breast expert, I can't possibly refer you to anyone better." That was all the advice I needed. From the first time I walked into his office, he made sure I understood my options, and and what each option entailed. He and his wonderful ultrasound technician, went through the ultrasound with me, showing me where the masses were and explaining the procedure. That was a first! Most ultrasound procedures are done without any involvement of the patient other than you laying there and being told when and how to move during the procedure, and then you wait...(tick tock, a week passes), while you worry what was found. I was 100% comfortable going forward. Before my surgery, the preop procedure of installing wire locators was a bit uncomfortable (because let's face it, wires in your boobs kinda hurt). But, his team was so loving and compassionate that I was smiling through it all. At the hospital he performed a partial mastectomy to remove 3 areas of concern. He spoke to me before the surgery, and made me feel at ease. Afterwards, I was given great advice on what types of bras I should wear, how to compress my boobs, how to clean the area, and what to expect. The scar left behind is another example of how talented he is; at 1.5 months post surgery, it is barely noticeable. Not just Dr.. Gardner, but the entire staff is truly brilliant and amazing. They care for you as if you are a close family member, and treat you like you are the only patient they have. None of that rush you in, rush you out, and send you off without knowing what is going on, like you find at many of the other practices. If you ever have a question, you can call and someone you actually know will answer the phone! I am so happy that I found the Palm Beach Breast Institute. Recently, my primary care physician referred me back to a hematologist, so I contacted Florida Cancer Specialists to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, my experience with the scheduling department was extremely disappointing. The representative who answered, Jamie, was literally the worst phone receptionist I have ever encountered in my life. From the beginning of the call, she was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted me, talked over me, and would not allow me to explain the reason for my call. When I requested to speak with someone else, her tone became sarcastic and condescending rather than professional or helpful. What concerned me most was the complete lack of empathy, compassion, and customer service. Patients calling a hematology/oncology practice are often dealing with serious health concerns, frightening diagnoses, or significant anxiety. The way I was treated was the exact opposite of what patients should experience when reaching out for care. To Florida Cancer Specialists' credit, I filed a complaint and received a call back from supervisor Tammie. She listened to my concerns, apologized for the experience, and informed me that the phone call was being reviewed in hopes of preventing something similar from happening again. Tammie was professional, respectful, and compassionate, which was a complete contrast to my interaction with Jamie. My intention in leaving this review is not to criticize the physicians, as I have always had a positive impression of Dr. Goodman. In fact, I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Friedman and look forward to meeting with him. Rather, I hope management recognizes how important front-line staff interactions are, especially in an oncology setting where kindness, patience, empathy, and professionalism matter just as much as efficiency. I appreciate Tammie's response and willingness to address the issue, and I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future patients.

They called me first thing this morning asking if I could come in for a 10:15 AM appointment to get a necessary blood test for my blood thinners. I accommodated them and walked through the door by 9:55 AM. The reward for my flexibility? Sitting in a packed waiting room for over an hour, completely ignored, while watching five people who arrived after me get called back before me. I guess if you are a retiree with absolutely nothing else to do, you might not mind letting this staff bleed your day dry while they completely lose track of who is even waiting. I do not have that luxury, nor do I want it. The staff here possesses zero common sense and an utterly incompetent approach to managing a schedule. Dr. Patel may be an expert, but the sheer lack of professionalism from her office staff has officially crossed the line. I am completely done dealing with this nonsense and am actively looking for a new hematologist's office entirely. Save your time, your energy, and your sanity. Go somewhere else.

I've had a number of issues including the front desk person not checking me in, then being rude when I'd go up to check (after sitting quietly for half an hour past my appointment). The billing department will talk down to you, extremely rude, I've never felt as horrible as I do after talking to them. I have had them call to tell me I owe money, that's fine, but they are very snippy, act as if I'm purposefully ducking payments, despite never getting a statement before the call, nor does the front desk staff ask for payment. If it weren't for the clinical staff I'd go somewhere else for my hematology needs. I would not recommend going unless there is a major shake up with the support staff.

They've now begun to make no patients, many of which are elderly caregivers wait outside the office in the heat of the summer. It's shameful.
