Very happy that this place reopened here in Santa Rosa! We used to frequent Gengis Khan years ago and really love the whole mongolian BBQ experience. I was amazed that the lines in the mall food court were for the big chains like Panda Express while diners could have had freshly prepared-in-front-of-their-faces Mongolian! There was a small line - it was the day before Christmas Eve - but it went really quickly. Unsurprisingly, my dinner was exactly what I wanted (since I picked the ingredients myself... duh!) and it was served HOT over a bowl of noodles. We ordered Gengis Khan for delivery, so this is solely based on our takeout experience. We had a large order (around 10 orders or so) since we had a large party. The food was very mid. Despite asking for the noodles to be spicy, the noodles were not spicy at all. The flavor was lacking in general. Portion size was good though, and they give you a variety of veggie options. They did not label any of the takeout boxes so we had to guess based on the ingredients which dish was what. Wasn't that big of an issue but something to be wary of if you are ordering for a large group via delivery. read more

Didn't realize this place has opened back up! I had tried it when I first moved to Sonoma county and loved it. I was unsure about trying them. Wasn't sure if it had the same owners or if it was just another restaurant with the same name as the one that closed years ago. so glad I gave them a try! Portions are huge! I had enough left for like two more meals! Love the noodles! Also, I'm super picky about bbq sauce, but theirs is quite good. Definitely would try again. Almost as good as I remember them to be. ... I love this place. A bit pricey but worth it. Over the years a lot of different Mongolian spots that sell this kind of food have ultimately shut down in Santa Rosa. I remember trying one of the first ones when I was around seven years old and they ended up closing. I was really sad because it was one of my favorite spots to eat at. When I lived in LA in college, I would always go to different spots to find Mongolian food. I figured it was more of a bigger city thing. However, when the place opened up, I was the first in line to give it a try and it is amazing . Honestly, I always get the build your own bowl and it normally still is enough for lunch the next day. The workers always provide a good amount of food. The service here is always nice. I recommend you try it and give it a shot. Really hoping the spots stay open. read more

Gengis Khan is a new concept restaurant inside the Santa Rosa plaza where the old Mrs.Fields cookies used to be. The concept is: 1. You build your own bowl for $17.99. In a buffet style line, you choose your own meats, vegetables, noodles and special sauces. The chef takes your bowl and cooks your food in front of you. 2. You build your own combo for $20.99 which is the same as above plus it comes with a small drink and 2 sides (steamed rice and chicken vegetable soup). Again, you get to watch the chef cook everything in front of you. I opted for the build your own bowl and loaded up on meats and veggies. I watched the chef cook it front of me and packaged everything up for me in a to go plastic box. It was a lot of food with noodles spilling over on the side. The taste was not bad, fresh meats and veggies and condiments (the mongolian sauce of lemon, oyster and bbq). Decide to try this new place for my lunch. I was very excited when I first saw it being built a few months ago. Surprisingly I don't think I'll be going back. You can customize how you want it. You can add your meat and then add as many variety of veggies that you want. For almost $20 they do give you a large portion, however the flavor was really disappointing to me. I ordered spicy and it was definitely not spicy. The flavor tasted kind of mild to me? Not that savory and not many other notable flavors. Good portion of meat and veggies though. Service was barely there,Food came out excruciatingly slow , and the staff would talk to each other instead of getting orders complete and arguing who cooks better/faster. Also while cooking other people's food , I could see the proteins people wanted in their meals getting swept off the grill while "cooking" and losing value to the food they PAID FOR. Person in front of me lost 3 shrimp for their bowl. To make this experience worse, my wife and child ended up getting sick from eating. I'd avoid this place. read more

For mall food I liked it. Was feeling like it was pricey for a bowl but cashier gave hints on how to get the most for your money. It's do it yourself on adding the thin slices of meat and veggies to your bowl, and then someone will add sauces/garlic/chili. Once they take it to cook they will add a bowl of noodles. It's a lot of food. My husband and I could of shared if he didn't ask to add a lot of chili sauce. read more

This place is new to the mall and definitely satisfies if you like Mongolian BBQ. It's a bit expensive but the portion is massive, enough for probably at least 3 people maybe more. There are different levels of spice and you get to pick your meat and veggies. Really good! read more

This place is new to the Santa Rosa mall and it adds a great touch to the food court by adding something different. It is $17.99 for just the bowl but this can definitely feed up to 3 people. The way this place works is you choose your ingredients and they cook them for you. There is a variety of vegetables. The meats are frozen come thinly sliced and rolled up which can take up a lot of space on your plate. The trick here is to squish down the meat and stand them up on the sides to then add your veggies in the middle. This way you can get in enough protein for your buck! What I love about this place is that everything is customizable to your liking and the staff is always there to answer any questions. Can't wait to be back! read more

Food is good but DONT ORDER ONLINE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHARGED DAYS LATER FOR CANCELING (ON TIME). They charged me for canceling less than a minute later because they had "already served it"... how can something be that quick to serve in less than a minute! Nice way to make money, huh? It might be Uber Eats problem too but for them to claim they had already done it when I cancelled immediately is pretty ridiculous. Overpriced, and you only get 1 trip to the grill. Every other mongolian bbq I've ever been to gives "all you can eat." I made my bowl so carefully with all my favorites and did not pick noodles off the bar, but without asking, the cook tossed a big bowl of noodles into my serving on the grill. I asked to speak to a manager but felt blown off by the staff there, I doubt a manager will get the message I wanted to pass on... don't add something to my bowl that I skipped on the bar without asking me. read more

Ordered for the 1st time on the 17th from my phone..accidentally ordered at the BREA location.. once I finalized my order & saw it said Brea location I immediately called that restaurant left my name my phone number order number and let them know that I ordered it the wrong location that I did a refund, but I still ordered at the Santa Rosa location and my coworker picked up my food. I still have yet to hear from the manager or anybody that deals with the Brea location and I want to hear some phone call response and I need to hear that now and I want my refund!!!! read more

Genghis Khan took over the old Mrs. Fields Cookies spot inside the Santa Rosa Simon Mall. The set-up looks a bit confusing but you head to the cashier first. With the cashier, you prepay for the entrée or combo. After paying, they give you a big bowl to stuff all the veggies and protein that you can eat. There are four selections of protein, such as chicken, pork, beef and turkey. There is a wide assortment of stir-fry vegetables too, like bean sprouts, water chestnuts and pineapple. When you get to the end of the assembly line, the cooks place a big heaping of noodles on top of your already-full bowl. They also ask what type of sauce you want to go with your food. It takes the cooks 2-3 minutes to cook your entire bowl of food. Food is a tad greasy, but it is delicious. I like the long chow mein noodles that they use. Be beware, they charge you a separate fee for using your credit/debit cards. They don't advertise it at the cashier, nor do they tell you about the extra surcharge. My bill was about $21, and they charged an extra 70 cents on top. read more

Pretty bomb! Had choices of beef,chicken,or pork for meat. Lots of veggie options. I really like that they let you fill the bowl with whatever meat or veggies you want and then they add the noodles themselves afterwards so that you don't have to worry about overstuffing your plate and not having enough room for everything. I just wish they would let you add the juices yourself though. They asked what spice level I wanted and I chose spicy however it wasn't very spicy. Friendly staff fresh pickings if you're new they'll be more than happy to explain sauces how things work and if you like extra veggies can have that too. Made right in front of you price is reasonable food will last for a couple of days will be back for more. Pictures are very deceiving. Yes, the food is fresh and they give you lots of noodles but it's gotta be the worst noodles I've ever had. The noodles genuinely tasted like plastic, not saucy at all so no flavor. My god do they give you a ludicrous amount of food for the price. It's not five star cuisine, but it was still very good and arrived piping hot despite a lengthy Doordash delivery.
