This place started off as being great. It was all a facade. Then as I kept coming and having to return, I realized and saw through all the BS. Some BS charge here, a little extra here, oh sorry you need this now while they have your mouth wide open and you have been in the chair for 2 hours already. But the kicker was the last BS charge of $400 to sit a crown. I had 2 insurance companies and they tried to charge me a 400 fee for something not covered by either insurance. Save your money and go elsewhere. I complained to the dentist and asked him if $400 for less than an hours work was fair. He told me he usually tried to Bill out $1200 an hour. Must be nice. The previous dentist (Dr. Thomas Peltzer) committed insurance fraud and malpractice last summer when he performed unnecessary work on over a dozen of my daughter's healthy teeth (confirmed by a reputable dentist). The entire staff from the receptionist to the assistants and hygienist are all well aware of this and are equally accountable. I know there is a new dentist in place, but I would advise against using this practice for dental care of any kind. Please look for an honest practice elsewhere. Please never go here! My last visit was years ago and I still think about it frequently! I suffer from severe dental anxiety following visit Long story short- quoted almost 20k for everything at 20 years old. Did a root canal and in the middle of it said I had another cavity to fix and to give them a thumbs up or down (because I couldn't talk) if I wanted it done and it would cost $600 after insurance. Machine kept breaking during procedure. Weeks later root canal tooth still hurt. They said bc I needed a crown. Ended up going to uconn to save money. Root canal was failed and tooth was removed. All other work was completed under 3k. They are crooks and need to be investigated. Never go here ever!! read more

I clearly should of done my research before ever stepping foot in that office. I'll keep this short, if you go to the dentist for a cleaning, after the cleaning the dentist is suppose to come in and check. He NEVER came in after any of my cleanings. I was a new patient and paid for X-rays because the insurance wouldn't cover and it was a complete waste of money because he never made any recommendations or talked about what he was on the X-rays. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had in the dental industry. The reception staff was rude. The dentist was cold and also rude. I was made to think that I needed to have all of this work done that would not be covered by my insurance . It was all false. This place just wants your money. They pressure you into thinking you need them because there is no other dentist that does sedation dentistry in CT. That is false. I went to this dentist, but have decided to go else where. The staff was nice enough and I was okay through the appointment until the very end. At the end you meet with a young woman who tells you what your treatment will cost. The estimate for the cost of care that they gave me were very upsetting. I drove home crying and sobbing like a baby. :( He's a good dentist, I just cannot afford him. The dentist I'm using now has great reviews on yelp and is more cost friendly as well. read more

Well i thought I found the best dentist place in my neighborhood given that the hours of operation are very convenient. Now after reading some reviews. I'm scared because the lady asked me to come in twice for cleaning she said I had a really good insurance plan and I get something like three cleaning a year I don't know what to believe :( I don't know maybe I'll get it in writing and they will stay to their words?? My next visit is in two weeks. Well my final review this place is a ripe-off, and it turns out they are not in even in-network with my insurance, not trustworthy, good thing called my insurance. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! My experience here was nothing but traumatizing. My mom came with me and thank god she did. I'm a 20 year old college student and I left this place in absolute tears. When my mom and I first got there, we had an appointment yet were forced to sit about 25 minutes before being seen. Then i had to take x-rays to which I was gaging and instead of giving me a second to take a break and re do it, the hygienist held my shoulders down and forced the picture. It was stressful and overwhelming right from the start. Then, when that was over there were pictures taken of my teeth. Though I was there for WISDOM TEETH, Dr. Peltzer came in and took it upon him self to tell me my teeth were "decaying". Clearly, my mom and I completely caught off guard and upset, he continued to say that i need to be sedated and get my teeth fixed. I was confused because two weeks prior i went to my pediatrician dentist and was told my teeth were just fine. After this we met with the receptionist, who although was very nice, knew exactly what she was doing. She handed my mom a bill of 10,000 dollars in repairs to just the left side of my mouth....when asked about wisdom teeth we were told they HAVE to fix the other things first but I have two get my wisdom teeth out within two months. How???? After leaving this place I went and got a second opinion, all of this "decay" is NOT TRUE. This dentist had no idea what Dr. Peltzer was talking about. All this place wanted was my money. Do not go here because it is not worth it. Everyone from the receptionist, hygienist, and dentist himself are all playing a sick game taking money from people. We went to gentle dental for years. LOVED our (my kids and I) hygienist who cleaned our teeth. I had work done (cavity filled) and had to pay out of pocket for a majority of it. They created a payment plan with me. I paid I'd ALL off in 2016. About 4 weeks ago someone started calling me from there (reception I suppose) claiming I still owed $100. Despite me telling her I believe I paid it, I have the receipts. She said she couldn't "speak for whomever" was sitting there before her and her "ledger" Said I still owed! WHY r u calling me over a YEAR later??? Smh!! She was dismissive of my statements that I paid it. And to top is all off....she called me ex-husband (of over 2 years) to try to collect the money...which is a HUGE HIPPA violation. I told her her calling my ex was a violation of my HIPPA rights and she laughed and told me she "hates when people don't leave notes in the files for her", basically minimizing that! I would not recommend this dentist office to anyone. I went there for a consultation and was welcomed by staff that were anything but polite and professional. Not only were the staff rude but the dentist was condescending and abrasive. To say the least, he was lacking in bedside manner. To finalize my visit, they printed out an estimated cost which totaled $17,000.00 (with my insurance) out of pocket! I ended up visiting another dentist which was much more friendly and a mere fraction of the price. Would NOT recommend to anyone. read more

I was changed $3000 for two crown lenghthenings. The dentist did not submit insurance claims for these procedures. I noticed this in my explanation of bennefits letter. I tried for 6 months to get them to submit the claims. they kept saying they did it but the insurance company never got them. I finally had to file a formal complaint / grievance with the insurance carrier to get them to had over the claim. Now I find out that only one of the teeth was aproved for treatment and I don't believe a crown lengthening was even done on either tooth! This is why they never sent in the claim !!! FRAUD !! I am in the process of reporting Dr. Peltzer to several authorities as I believe that my situation is not isolated. read more

Wish I read some of these reviews before visiting this office. While the Doctor was gentle and patient during the visit, the cost turned out to be very high. They billed my insurance company and made a charge against my HSA. When I contacted both HSA and insurance company, I found out I could not afford this service. I told the girl that I could not afford this, she suggested care credit. The appointment was cancelled. I returned a call to the office and I told her I left a voicemail (during their lunchhour) and she hung up on me. For the tooth extraction I just received a bill today for a broken appointment bill for $1000.00! The extraction was going to be $1500.00 plus. Customer beware......The Better Business Bureau and State Attorney General will be receiving letters. read more

Extremely disappointed! I read on their website (first mistake) that this dentist didn't care about money, he cared about his patients. Believe me, money is extremely important to him. In fact I almost had a heart attack when they went over my estimate for dental care. The amount was $11,550.00 and that was just for a portion of the dental work needed. I also have to question his comments. If he was trying to make me feel bad about myself he did an excellent job. Oh did I mention I qualify for Care Credit in the amount of $2,400.00...wonderful! They suggested perhaps I could borrow the rest from family lol! I wish I had reviewed Yelp prior to making an appointment with Dr. Peltzer, it would have saved me nearly $300.00 for my first and last visit. read more

My visit to Gentle Dental Care was an expensive disappointment. Having recently moved from another state, I was looking for a dentist in the area. Long wait in a dental chair, after a dental assistant took a full series of x-rays (despite having x-rays done and available within a year); x-rays taken with what appeared like a very outdated equipment. It's their office protocol to do full mouth x-ray on everyone, regardless of need. After x-rays, they kept me there for 40 minutes without giving me any information on how long the wait was going to be. Dentist Peltzer came in for a few minutes and recommended several things to be done with an estimate of $5,000. I am young and have had regular annual checkups with no major problems for years. X-ray + exam = total cost $245. Cleaning = $255, a separate appointment. I asked for a second opinion from another dentist and was put at ease about what really needs to be done and how much money I won't need to be spending. The second opinion was definitely worth the extra cost. I wish I skipped the first opinion, though. read more
