We had been in Curdworth before enjoying other nice pubs in the area but I have to say, White Horse is a 5 out of 5 experience! Checking their deals, we decided for a Wednesday visit when there is a steak night when 2 meals + a bottle of wine costs £29.95. Considering the size and selection of steaks and also the the vast wine list, the meal was not pricey at all. This very cozy pub is an invitation for those who want to bring your family, partner or just want to treat yourself with good meal and good drinks. The halloumi came with chips, mushy peas and a gorgeous gherkin relish. The gherkin relish was so nice, the waitress went and got some more for me! It was priced at £9.5o, so not cheap but definitely worth it. I had the Melba crème brulé for dessert, it was nice but I think I prefer my creme brulé as just that rather than with an added layer of sponge as this had. The pub has a feel of a countryside village pub so didn't really feel like I was by Birmingham.

The place really has character to it, and I have to say, regarding the copious amounts of wooden beams holding the ceiling up, it feels as thought the inside of the building should be listed as some sort of relic. The punters who drink here are also very old-worldy, and I always feel like I've stepped back in time when I've gone inside. I really love the selection of drinks sold here, and I usually buy a few different glasses of wine. But it's not any old wine, flavours range from strawberry to cherry to elderflower to plum to dandelion to nettle. I'm yet to try the nettle, next time eh! But all the ones I've tried so far have been very delicious, rich and strong! One thing that's very annoying about this pub is the opening times. Everything is very hazy, because the Griffin states that it closes at lunch times, but then seems to open whenever it feels like it. I've tried to go there at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm and it's been closed. Surely they should be open the majority of the day to bring in drinkers.

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

Perhaps out of the way for a few people but it means you get a lot of the locals in there (like myself!) which leads to a very pleasant and jovial ambience to the play. The low wooden beams and moody lighting might be the staple of this chain of pubs but don't let that put you off, this really is in the spirit of traditional old country pubs. The food is pretty good and there's a good selection of lagers bitters and ales on tap for the discerning drinker. The staff and the new management are much improved and very friendly with the punters and won't shy from a bit of joking and banter. The car park is always full, especially on Sundays when people go in for the Sunday roast which if anything is a sign of a successful establishment.

It was a very nicely kept country-style pub. The Dog Inn is out in the sticks but a simple bus or drive out from Birmingham. We went on a Saturday for lunch and there was a fairly steady stream of local customers popping in, either to the posh dining side or the main bar. The surroundings were very comfortable and kept in immaculate condition. These folks take their cleaning seriously. Everything was spotless and well ordered. Service was good and food great value. While it's not exactly super exciting, for pub grub it was more than acceptable. I think my 8oz steak, with chips, peas and onion rings worked out at around £9. The beer was also well kept. Coffee was dire tho and I wouldn't recommend it if you're anything like a coffee geek! Too hot and too bitter for me. My steak was also definitely on the medium to well-done side rather than the medium rare I ordered, so a bit of a downer there. I had Crumble and gloopy custard which together was a little sweet but hit the spot nicely. As an easy going lunch stop over offering decent drinks and food at nice prices I would recommend. While I wouldn't call it a "budget" menu, it was good value but the drinks are on the higher priced scale. Children are welcome but they do not have a dedicated children's menu although there are light snacks on the menu such as hotdog and chips which are all under £5. It's very friendly and they have awards for cleanliness. You would have to travel by car to get there and I would also recommend using SatNav because it is easy to get lost around there! (Or maybe that was just me!)
