It was the first time that I actually had a say on the kind of eyeglasses to buy. You see, when I first started wearing glasses, I had a hard time looking for the right frame size. Most optical shops offer small frames that do not fit my wider-than-usual face, which left me with no choice but to settle for rimless eyewear whose nose bridges can be adjusted so the temple shafts (aka 'arms') can comfortably reach each of my ears. I'm not really a fan of rimless reading glasses because I find them too flimsy. My latest pair is made by Oakley. I never imagined this famous brand will have something suitable enough for the width of my head. Thanks to George Optical's wide selection, I had the chance to wear a good optical brand and buy it at a sale price, too! At George Optical, everyone is polite, from the staff to the optometrists or opticians. Plus, they have the latest in eye check-up equipment to boot. I was the only customer that time so I really had ample time to choose the size, font, and design of the stickers. Before they started printing, I made several more changes to my order and the staff was accommodating and patient enough to attend to my new demands. In less than a minute after we finalized the sticker design, my order was done. But that's not the end of it. What surprised me more was the fact that Robee's services were really affordable. Upon seeing the thank-you stickers, my sister told me that she also wanted to have her own personalized name stickers to label her books. Of course, I went back to Robee Stickers the very next day and I had the same neat experience. I ended up buying labels for my niece too. Aside from stickers, Robee also offers customized bagtags, business cards, and invitations.

If you're an ukay-ukay (thrift store) person, then you will absolutely love Fadrack. Located at the 2nd level of Starmall Shaw, Fadrack has been a favorite fashion haunt of me and my colleagues. But don't be so quick to judge. Fadrack may be a thrift shop but it's one of the classiest ukay stores I've ever been to. The store is air-conditioned and unlike other ukay stores, clothes here are put neatly on clothes racks. None of those open balikbayan boxes with clothes piled over each other. The staff members of Fadrack make sure that their items are displayed properly and that you can manoeuvre inside the store without tripping over a pair of shorts lying on the ground. Of course the items are either a hit or miss, typical of any ukay shop. But if you're lucky enough, you may find an overrun Zara vest or an authentic Hermes scarf. If you're a patient and resourceful shopper, I'm sure you'll be able to find items here that you can take home. Fadrack, however, prices quite expensively. I guess because it is located in a mall, it needs to compensate with its prices. But they do hold seasonal sales and when they do, you can get up to 70% discount. Not bad, huh?

The logo just reminds me of a traditional american company that sells something authentic and traditional. Nothing is less true actually, Otterbox sells water resistant, shock resistant and drop resistant smart phone cases. Ok, this is kinda cool actually. It's conveniently located in the sports section of SM aura on level 4 and so if you are into outdoor or extreme sports and you want to bring your phone, maybe it's worthwhile paying a visit to Otterbox. Or if you are just really clumsy with your phone and you get drunk all the time, the drop resistant cases might also be beneficial for you. I haven't bought one because I already have a working case, but once it breaks down, I know where to go.

For one thing, the place is quite cool. Not air-conditioned cool, but rather comfortably cooled by electric fans and enough room to move. This is one of the shortcomings of most second hand stores. They tend to put too much of their wares causing visitors to feel claustrophobic. Not JHOLDEN. The place gives customers all the room they need to move around comfortably without bumping into each other. More importantly, however, the quality of the clothes, bags and shoes that they sell is quite good. I can't really comment on the ladies' wear, but I did notice that the men's shoes were in good shape. There was a decent collection of both leather and rubber shoes. Then there are the jackets. What they had was pretty impressive. I would have bought a couple but it was a hot summer day. Most of their clothes are in the P100 to P200 price range, so very affordable. If you have no qualms about buying and wearing second hand clothes and shoes, then this place is worth visiting.

They are right on trend with prices that don't break the bank. They also have basics and styles to suit almost anyone's taste. I just happened to walk by the giant store in SM and realized that there were pillows, curtains and candleholders in the window display. I looked up and saw "Home." I rushed in and didn't leave for an hour. If you're familiar with the American store Anthropologie, this is a carbon copy of it, at better prices. The home decor is mostly shabby chic with many distressed items with a cool retro vibe. They have old-fashioned handmade looking glass containers that can be used for whatever you think up, wooden crates with cracked paint and printed vintage logos, neutral woven rugs and pretty much anything else you could possibly need to dress up your home. Although the prices are not through the roof, they are not cheap. I had to resist buying everything in the store, but managed to walk away with a few throw pillows, some thick glass jars and a cute little wooden crate to put them in. I go by as often as I can just to see if there is anything new. If you need to spruce up your home, this is the place to go.
