3.5/5. I don't have any particularly large complaints about my experience, but I just didn't enjoy my food enough to round up to a 4. We came to Georgia Blue on Saturday for lunch before the Auburn/MSU game. We arrived right when they opened for fear of losing out to the game day crowd. Parking is a little difficult, especially on rainy days like that Saturday (we wound up in a small grassy lot behind the restaurant), but we made our way inside. Luckily, we had no trouble getting a table. The layout inside is a little confusing but the restaurant itself is clean and comfortable. Our booth felt private and we enjoyed our time hanging out and talking with friends. 2/4 people ordered sangria to drink. It was on the very sweet side, but good. My gal pal ordered a round of fried crawfish tails as our appetizer since she misses crawfish -- it's less popular where she lives. I tried a small bite. It was new to me; I'd never tried crawfish before as I tend to avoid eating most aquatic critters per my own preference. The tails were cut super small (diced into little chunks, really) and breaded heavily enough that honestly, I mostly just tasted breading. Which was fine for me, lol. The remoulade was good. I had the Blue's burger, while husband just got an appetizer of loaded fries. My gal pal got chicken tenders and her fiancé got the Rodeo burger. Everything was...just okay, I guess? I didn't think the burger had much flavor at all, but at the same time it didn't taste bad. I dunno. The best part was definitely the fries. I'm a big fan of sidewinder fries and these were pretty good. Dipped in ranch, they were a winner. No one else commented too positively or negatively on any of their meals, so I can only guess they had a similar experience as me: just fine. Our server was nice and did a good job, though by the end I sort of got the feeling she wanted us to go ahead on and leave rather than have a second round of drinks like we chose to do. That being said, I can sympathize with wanting to turn the table on a busy day. Georgia Blue has a fairly large, fairly creative menu. While I wasn't blown away this time, I'd consider returning and trying something different. read more

Stopped by today for some lunch, I was excited cause I remember the rodeo burger being really good last time I got it! They brought my wife's salad out, and said the burger would be out in a second. I waited, and eventually another 20ish minutes go by still nothing. After another 10 the server apologized and asked if I wanted it to go since my wife had finished her salad. Strike one. Took it to go and I figured that would be the end of it. I got the rodeo burger on sourdough assuming that it meant sourdough bun, it did not, it came out on sourdough toast. That's a shag on me not the restaurant though, I just assumed. Well I get home and open the container and come to find out, I didn't have a rodeo burger in there. It was a patty with bacon, lettuce and some cheese. No mayo, lettuce or pickles like the blues burger and definitely no onion strings and honey chipotle bbq sauce, pickle and mayo like the rodeo burger. Strike two. I was bummed cause I was looking forward to the rodeo burger but eh, stuff happens I understand so I decided to eat it, it's still a burger. I can't remember the last time I didn't finish one of my burgers from a place out of not being able to eat it. But this broke that over decade long streak. When they say "All burgers served medium-well" on the menu, they don't kid! The edge of the patty had a char that tasted like disappointment and despair, definitely not the good kind of the char. The patty itself was gray on the inside bordering something served from the Krusty Krab when Mr Krabs was burning all the food. The bacon was just plain sad and I'm sorry that some poor pig had to be slaughtered to become that. That was strike three. Ate dinner at Georgia Blue on Saturday. Yes, it was game day we expected a wait. We waited over 2 hours to finally eat. Our wait was longer than stated-50/ 45 minutes. We were sat in the side room, we never got silverware. The management had one sweet waitress in charge of that entire room. We were sat then a party of 10 were sat in the same room. My son asked for shrimp and grits with no onions. When the food came, it had onions. After two hour wait and a long day, he ate nothing. Waitress did take off his meal. My husband and I ordered red beans and rice they were cold with no bread. The server that served our food asked if we needed anything. I told him we never got silverware and we were supposed to get bread. Never saw him again. I had to finally go get us silverware. There does not seem like there is enough staff. This is the third time we ate at Georgia Blue. The first time it was excellent, second it was good but the service was slow but this time the food was not good and the service was not good except for the sweet waitress that was spread too thin. A truly unique dinning experience in Starkville, the outdoor seating with private tabletop fire pits is very unique. We started with fried turnip bites and duck wontons, both were delicious. Waitstaff is patient and helpful and generous with opinions and information. I had the salmon, which was tender and flavorful. Turnip green bites are amazing. Can't go wrong with the shrimp and grits I always add crawfish to mine. My husband loves the gator poboys!
