I've been to Geppetto twice now. First of all, this place is cute. They took an old timey kind of run down Pittsburgh building and made it look like it should be that way, with books and Pinocchios all over the place. It's small and homey and playful and inviting. We had both savory crepes and sweet crepes here and they were all good. For savories, we had the Bonjour and the Love Hate Thing. I liked the Love Hate Thing better. The maple syrup on the Bonjour didn't do anything for me. There was just a lot going on. The sweet crepes were delicious; both the Banoffee and the Cookie Monster were tasty, but Cookie Monster wins--the crunchy bits on there were clutch. The crepes themselves have a really nice texture and flavor, not gummy or tough, and they complimented both the sweet and savory fillings nicely. I have been coming here since they opened in 2016. It instantly became my favorite place. It's a Lawrenceville staple now. When people ask me what my favorite restaurant is I say "well it's actually a brunch place, but Geppetto Cafe! Trust me!" Great atmosphere, food, and people. There are few places I'm a regular, and this is one of them. Their iced black coffee is my all-time favorite too. We just had our engagement party here, and they were so flexible and accommodating. We each got a savory item (the caprese panini and a savory crepe) and then got the Geppetto Signature crepe to split as "dessert." It was the perfect amount of food. The Geppetto Signature crepe was delicious, with excellent caramel sauce. The interior is also decorated beautifully. The Croque Madame French toast is a total showstopper--sunny-side-up egg, Canadian ham, Gruyère cheese, and béchamel sauce layered on French toast. OMG, wow. Wonderful brunch spot! We went around 11 and there was a line out the door, but, luckily, we only had about a 20 minute wait. I ordered the sunny side crepe which was super fresh, filling, and balanced. The eggs needed some seasoning and I would've liked a bit more avocado but otherwise this was very yummy and satisfying. The crepe alone was fantastic! We also shared the Dubai crepe which genuinely left us speechless. Really aesthetic little brunch spot in Lawrenceville! They have such a wide variety of items on the menu. Their plating is so pretty and very Instagrammable. Lots of sweet options if you're a dessert for breakfast type person, but also lots of savory options too! They serve all the typical brunch things you'd want -- crepes, french toast, etc. There will probably be a long wait since it's a popular brunch place, but from what I can remember the line moves fairly fast. Which is the only way to dine easily with Mr Toddler these days and despite his current high chair protests. Upon arriving, Mr Toddler was immediately smitten with the staff. (As all of the community has been since the first time we met theowner. Personally, it was late one night while he was hand painting the front door before opening. He came off as the nicest person then and still is. ) The staff continue to be warm and welcoming. We got our seats and I ordered quickly. My kid was delighted with his food. Polka dot table clothes, colorful tableware, local art on the walls, books hanging from the ceiling -- it was like having breakfast in Zooey Deschanel's daydream. A server took our orders quickly, and several stopped by to keep our coffee cups full throughout our meal. My friend ordered the Bonjour, and I went with the Italian Job -- a crepe roughly based off a caprese salad, with lightly dressed salad on the side. I've never had such delicious breakfast from a restaurant that didn't make me feel like I gained 10 pounds over the course of the meal. Balanced, filling, tasty. I left very satisfied. Gepetto Cafe utilizes the waitlist app which worked perfectly, and it allowed our group of six time to do a short walk to kill time. We went to the location in Bloomfield, having read the great reviews. While we had a shaky start to the visit, the most important part -- the food-- was excellent and thus the 4 star review (I would do 4.5 stars but not an option). Our biggest issue was that they had forgotten we were waiting and we ended up asking them after 30 minutes of waiting outside and it was obvious that they had forgotten. They were very apologetic and got us a table right away. That would be fine, but then we did end up waiting for our food for at least 45 minutes or more. That seems a bit too long. However, in the end, the crepes were fabulous!! I had the Bonjour crepe which I devoured and my family all loved theirs as well. Decor is fun and it is a lively place. I recommend it as long as you are not in a rush! read more
