Centro Arndale is a lot bigger than it first seems, and its labyrinthine set-up can be confusing!…read moreIt's a great local shopping centre, as it has everything you need and lots more, so is great for the necessity of weekly shopping as well for some fun shopping on the side. There are two supermarkets and two department stores here - Woolies, Coles, Harris Scarfe and Big W, as well as three bakeries, which I think is spoiling us! There is a great range of clothing shops for younger and older women, and some casual and formal clothing shops for men as well. They have three Bric-a-Brac stores, including a Reject Shop and two similar independent retailers. The food court is small, but there's enough to choose from, if you're not feeling like bakery wares. There is also a central court which is getting ready for Chinese New Year celebrations at the moment, and has a stage for any concerts or public events. Add to this several hairdressers, banks, a newsagency and bookstore, a fresh fruit store, several shoe shops and bag shops, and you have yourself a great shopping centre with more local personality than the Big Boys like Tea Tree Plaza.

ok, Arndale has everything you would want a shopping centre to have, clothes, shoes, cosmetics,…read morefood, newsagencies, gift shops, bargain stores, cinema etc. But I sincerely dislike the atmosphere, I know it's mainly to do with frequenting this place when I was young with my father trying to find shoes, hours of looking for shoes...blah. It just feels (and looks) unclean and sad. I used to come here back when I was studying at Regency, very convenient, if you aren't looking for shoes you should be out of there pretty soon clutching what you need. Just try not to get lost, I wandered around in there for a good length of time trying to find the cinema, which by the way has a separate entrance, wish someone had told me that! I think with a coat of paint and a different demographic, I could quite like Arndale.

The alternative shopping centre I use if I want to jump on a 100 bus (goes past here to my place)…read moreand you know, a change is as good as a holiday sometimes. I really like a couple of the food places here - they have a good green grocer, very nice cheap variety and crafts store where you can get glass beads and cheap party stuff like napkins and wrapping and toys and all sorts of odds and sods (that's on old saying). The supermarket is not bad, there's some seating inside if you are a bit puffed out and there are a few stores where you can get a feed if you need to. One of the things you may notice around here is there are more Africans, because there just happen to be quite a few living in the Anglicare accommodation around here. As yet that doesn't seem to have made any impact on what is for sale in the stores here, but eventually maybe it will. In the meantime, this is not a bad alternative to my usual shopping centre; I do like to mix it up a bit.

Westside Findon Shopping Centre is a gorgeous little set of shops with a very friendly atmosphere…read more There is a strong sense that everyone knows everyone else, and the shop assistants always smile and greet you and are happy to chat. It gives the place a great feeling. It follows the usual routine of local shopping centres - a supermarket, a green grocer, butcher, deli, newsagency, bakery, discount store, cafes, grog shop and some women's clothing stores. This sums up the shopping centres around this area. The only difference in this one is the atmosphere, the smaller size and the age of clientele, which appears to be quite a bit older than average. Lots of little oldies come in for a coffee and a piece of cake at the cafe, and to do a little shopping. The one clothing shop here is specifically for 'mature women', so that definitely says something. There is also a large Italian community in the area, and the deli caters very much for these, and you'll hear plenty of Italian flying about if you're nearby. Ahhh I love the sound of that language. The only downside of this centre is that because of the relaxed friendly vibe of the place, we often get some feral children screaming around. But you can get those anywhere I suppose.

Due to its Gepps Cross location, I am lucky enough to be the first to review. Today my best friend and I were cruising around, you know, just shopping for some cool stuff...and this massive store happened to be right next to JB Hi-Fi, where we bought a new PS3 game to play together. Yes, we young guys love our computer games. I admit it - we were going to go home straight after, but I couldn't resist it. We stepped in, and all I could mutter was, "Whoa!....This is massive! And it's so well laid out!" I ... just ... can't....get...enough! The male owner smiled and said hello to me straight away! He's hidden, located right in the middle of the store, so you have to walk a few metres forward before you see him. He introduced me to his range of products, and I was impressed with his efficient furniture education. The latest colours are black and white modern, and the prices were shocking - $600 for a black desk! And he told me I can mix and match colours such and dark and light browns stylishly with other colours. He then showed me what rustic (country) furniture looked like...now I have a better idea of how I'm going to lay out my new house in the future. But hopefully my bank account doesn't go bankrupt if I'm going to make my interior look as snazzy as this store.

Coming to a place like this is almost like I don't know where to look, or what to look at first!!…read more This place is amazing all in all. This Sunday market is mainly a fruit and veg market place, with probably around 40 different stalls to choose from. Along with produce you'll find other stalls selling things like pot plants, honey, eggs, flowers, almonds, nuts and seeds, baked goods, used electronic goods and tools, secondhand clothing, ornaments, phone accessories, market trolleys .... there was even one selling a variety of different birds!! So yes pets to! After coming here several times I do find most stalls trend with the current "in-season" produce, which is generally to be expected. So sometimes you may find it hard finding a good deal or bargain with certain goods, even after looking through the whole grounds. This particular time I've found tomatoes fairly competitive. But overall you should be able to find any type of fruit and veg here all year round ... just the prices will vary. The stall holders are always friendly and helpful. One good thing is most have a "try before you buy" thing going on. The current season you could almost fill up on sampling mandarins while you shop. Or apples. Parking can also be a bitch. If you arrive shortly before or on 7am you'll likely be able to park comfortably inside the gates. Otherwise sometimes there's a cue down the street waiting to enter. An alternative is street parking close by. I'm usually finding myself parking across the road, and I'm lucky enough to get one reasonably close to the gates. On top of this there's also a $1.50 entry fee per person. One other downfall is the place can get quite packed. Along with that it can seem quite cramped with a lot of stalls wedged together and tight walk-ways. Peak times I've noticed can be around 8-11. You may need to possess patients or be able to handle the hussle. All in all the place is amazing if you're very into stocking up on your wholesome fresh produce and enjoy looking for a bargain. Definitely worth a look.
