We found Gere-a-Deli after walking and shopping for a couple hours and it was exactly what we needed! We had a cup of clam chowder and a roll and it was delicious!! Everything is homemade and so good! My husband got a brownie and it was perfect! This is a touristy area but this place was super affordable for a quick bite to eat. There was five of us. So yummy!!!! My favorite deli of all times. Everything you want however you want it and the do Gluten Free! I like to build my own sandwich with gf bread, of course, turkey, Swiss cheese, cranberry, avocado, sprouts, and mayo. Their pickles are delicious, as is the coleslaw so I choose both - denying oneself of either is not an option. I can forgo the chips, or add the as well. The service is always warm and friendly. If there's a line out the door, don't be intimidated. It was quickly in. It's worth standing in line. Or, you can order ahead and pick it up at the side door and take it with you. OMG ginormous portions. We had a cup of chowder, a sub sandwich that was enough to feed four people and a Caesar salad with chicken and some chocolate dessert. Busy Saturday December 14th 2024. Extensive menu with many options of hot cold sandwiches and salads and a few desserts. I chose the 12" French Dip. Bread perfectly toasted good amount of beef of good quality. Not stringy au just maybe a mix but had a good flavour and not overly salty. Easily one of the most crowded restaurants in Anacortes and for good reason! There was a decently long line with pretty full tables, but there was plenty of seating and the interior was very cool looking. It took about 20 minutes to get to the front of the line before ordering. The worker taking the order was very friendly. I ordered a turkey sandwich of some sort with a side of chips. This spot is always pretty busy and the hours are somewhat limited but it's a small town and they seem to be mostly a lunch spot. The sandwiches are the absolute best around. The Some Like Hot is my favorite sandwich and even a half order is huge. The Crusty Croation is a very close second. They have a pretty big cold/hot deli sandwich selection (vegetarian options included) along with salads, soups, pastries, desserts, and drinks. We ordered the 6'' Italian sub, 6'' "Some Like It Hot" pastrami sandwich, and clam chowder. The 6'' sandwiches were huge and yummy! They also came with a side of potato chips which was a plus for me. After ordering, I was given a number and the food was brought over to the table when ready. Service was friendly and quick. Seating is cafeteria style so sit wherever you want. Pretty busy at lunch time, they do get the food out fairly quick though! They have a lot of delicious baked goods. I got the cheesecake, it's not as thick as you'd usually find at Cheesecake Factory. I also got a chocolate chip cookie which was soft and huge! As well as the panda cake, the chocolate cake and chocolate was a great convo but the white filling thing was way too sweet. I got a whole some like it hot sandwich and I didn't realize how large it was. I ended up eating just a 1/4 of it at the time. It was nice it was cut in 4th.
