Dr. Birk I have only seen once at the front desk and was not impressed. The review is unfortunate, and is more related to Dr. Birk's running of her business than poor medical care. To me something I practice and preach is to do my best to have a satisfied customer that I can turn then into a loyal customer and added revenues through word of mouth. Dr. Birk didn't seem to care about that rule. I was told a charge would be one amount when it was another. This I found out after the service had been rendered...and is a business practice I abhor more than the money that was charged. While I cannot fault the medical care, I can fault the business practices. Dr. Birk made a few extra dollars from the belated undisclosed Ts&Cs regarding service; however, it will cost her business a few thousand in lost revenue as a result, a poor rating and a caveat emptor word of mouth exposure to my friend and neighbors. The proper course of action, one I always take, is to discount the 'surprise' charges if I can do so because of changes in operation of my business and make a friend of my customer--resulting in repeated business. I add an apology to that discount as well. I did get an apology, alone with a 'chi ching' as she claimed the undisclosed cost. I'm not even sure if anyone else in her practice is aware of this change in her operating procedures. Penny smart pound foolish is the saying I've used throughout my career to keep me focused on what matters--client retention and repeat business.

They know my whole family and when I called to get my records transferred Mary asked how my sisters were doing. The staff there is awesome (I was bummed when Ethel retired). The waiting room is nice with magazines, a few toys for kids, and a clean bathroom. I don't really know much about dentistry, but I didn't understand why people didn't like going to the dentist until I went to a different one in Chicago. Dr. Krabill was really good whenever I got a filling or teeth pulled - the novacaine shot really just felt like a pinch and then no other pain. When I got a filling in Chicago, I've never had that much pain at the dentist before - and when I told her she looked at me like "of course it's going to hurt" (this was NOT Krabill's, this was in Chicago, just to be clear.) In terms of pricing I honestly have no idea as my parents handled that. If you can get in to see him (I thought at one point he wasn't able to take any more patients) it is very highly recommended!
