Set in an original WW2 tunnel complex created by the Germans using slave labour, the tunnels give an incredible perspective on the war in the only "British" area that was occupied. I loved the commentary from the Walkman about what the tapestry was representing during that period. Very interesting and even learnt about the oldest post box on the island of Guernsey from one tapestry so after I went along to find it. Even though very small museum and only 10 tapestry's was very pretty to look at and found out a lot of interesting history.

Of course, the information is all from the 1940's, so it is all still totally accurate. But still, it is the one lame element. After sitting through the video on the very small television, also likely from the 1980s, just set out and explore all of the items. Hundreds and hundreds of items to see. Uniforms, vehicles, clippings, weapons, you name it and they have collected it. At times I found myself just staring at something and thinking that I cannot believe I am face to face with something I have heard about in history books. You can spend a good hour here, and a true history lover perhaps two.

It's probably best known…read moreas the first town liberated by the Allied invasion but also for US paratrooper John Steele's landing, breaking his leg, and getting stuck on the town church's rooftop for 2 hours before being taken as a POW. The incident is immortalized here with a replica of John Steele still hanging from the rooftop. The incident was also portrayed in the D-Day movie The Longest Day.

Very cool museum with a lot of information…read more This museum is not huge but it's informative. The museum has 1 of 6 B 17 Bombers left in the world and the only one outside the United States. Lots of cool things to look at as it looks after D-Day. I'd say if you can come see this museum !
