I've adopted two dogs from GALPR. The first in 2015 and my second this year. The transitions were very smooth and Stacy takes great care in making sure that all these animals get the best homes after they've suffered extreme situations. She knows me well and knows when there is a good match for me. She even offers to pet sit when needed!

The day the family adopted Sweetie

I have been very fortunate to get two beauties from Stacey and the wonderful group of ladies (and gents) that assist her. I had a poodle which we named Lady. We got to love her for many years before she passed away. This year we got a Maltipoo and named her Sweetie. She is the baby of our family. She is my dog but the family's baby. Everyone takes part in loving and giving her daily care. Stacey has been wonderful with answering questions and providing suggestions for additional care. She has been my dog sitter when we go on vacation, and my dogs recognized her and have been happy to see her. I'm very happy with the kindness and care that she provides for each and every dog. If you have it in your heart to get a pet, please search for a rescue. Thank you to all of the wonderful people that assist Stacey with GET A LIFE PET RESCUE.

I lost my last two fur babies in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024, I was so hesitant to get another. In mid January, I just happened to go online to "see what was out there" and came across Get A Life Pet Rescue where I sent my application in for one potential adoption. I was contacted by Stacey who informed me that this particular one may not be a good choice for me because she (the doggy) needed to go to a home that had another dog. She needed a companion dog to help with her anxiety and separation issues. I wasn't quite ready to take on two at once again. But Stacey then suggested another little doggy that she had just taken in and had not put photos up yet. His name was Brio. After a few chats, Stacey brought Brio to meet me. This was on Feb 1st, 2025. Fast forward to today - March 2nd, 2025. It has been one month since I adopted the little boy that has put my broken heart back together. I honestly can not thank Stacey enough. Stacey was honest, upfront and completely transparent on everything related to Brio and his previous life. Stacey treated Brio as if he were her own baby. Stacey invested a lot of her time, love and money in making sure his health was good and that he had the best diet and food options available. She provided me with several years of prior vet records that Brio had along with the most current and complete vet records and exams that Get A Life Pet Rescue had conducted on Brio by their own vet. I can not say enough good things about the work that Stacey does for these little angels and how tirelessly she works on getting them matched into loving homes where they can thrive. This is a labor of love than can only come from the heart. If you are considering adopting a new family member, I fully endorse Stacey and Get A Life Pet Rescue. I am so happy that I found them. 5 stars is not a high enough rating to give this group!

I am such a huge fan of this wonderful organization. I have personally fostered 3 dogs and adopted one. I can tell you being part of the foster and adoption process and working with Stacy she dedicates her life to these animals, their safety and their well being. I have recommended numerous friends who have also adopted through their services and found wonderful companions. Get a life pet rescue ensures these animals find kind loving homes and are given the best care and greatest chance of adoption. I have even seen them work with some that have behavioral issues, working hard to correct and then ensure they are placed with the perfect family for their needs. It's amazing the work they do and I'm so happy to be apart of it. I love my dog that I've adopted so much he is truly a wonderful edition to our family. It's been a few years and I still donate and show up to their events because I've seen the state of some of these poor animals they take in who are in desperate need of veterinary care and new homes. What they do is nothing short of amazing giving these wonderful animals a chance at a new loving home.

I don't understand the poor reviews because we had a wonderful experience with Get A Life Pet Rescue, founded by Stacy Chaya. Stacy came over to do a home visit and I found her to be professional and passionate about the importance of placing Dana in the right home; a home with a lot of love to offer this little girl. Dana's foster mom, Danielle, also came along on the home visit and she too, was helpful and full of advice. Thank you so much Danielle! The adoption fee included three cans of grain free food, a car seatbelt, collar, leash and a single dosage of heartworm medication. Stacy gave us an accurate description of Dana's personality and was spot on. We received Dana's medical records including dental and her microchip information. Stacy, thank you so much for the love and dedication you pour into your rescue efforts. Because of you, Dana is now in her forever home. We can't thank you enough for bringing her into our life. She is taking lots of walks, enjoys her car rides and she even is friendly with the little pomeranian next door. Dana loves snuggling and she eagerly embraces all of the attention, and unconditional love we give her. If you are looking to rescue a small dog, I urge you to contact Stacy. I highly recommend Get A Life Pet Rescue and am confident you will have a positive experience too!

This rescue is amazing. I got 2 of the very best, sweet girls from Stacy and her amazing group of volunteers, of which i am proud to be a part. I personally have assisted in the screening process for adopters as a volunteer, and i know first hand the in depth research and thought that goes into reviewing each and every application. They do amazing work and help so many dogs in South Florida. I feel fortunate to have found them and plan to adopt from them in the future as well!!

We adopted our fur baby, Lucy, from Get A Life Pet Rescue ~6 years ago. The vetting process was well done and matched us successfully. I give my highest referral for this wonderful organization!

I found this rescue 10 years ago after losing my beloved Chihuahua. I fell in love with Phoebe, a senior chi mix with tons of attitude. I also fell in love with this rescue. So much love there, compassionate volunteers who foster rescues in their homes until forever families are found! I have adopted from this rescue 3 times and it has always been a rewarding experience!

I had never been to an animal shelter before. I didn't know what to expect, so I was a bit nervous…read more The facilities here are modern and clean. You sign in at the front desk and then freely roam to look at animals. I didn't explore the dog areas, but there are several areas of cats, separated by fosters, kittens fresh from getting spayed/neutered, and older cats. Beware: you will want to take all of them home. There wasn't that many people there when I went, so I was able to spend a lot of time getting to know the kitties. I fell in love with a little tortie, but was worried when I saw that she had enlarged mammary glands (her lil tummy was shaved from her recent spaying). A worker in the cat room went above and beyond to help. She explained that the cat had probably recently had a litter and her milk hadn't dried up yet. But, just to make sure, without me even asking, she took the kitty back to get examined by their doctor. After confirming what I had been told, I scooped up that lil girl and adopted her ASAP. The adoption process was easy. Just a head's up: if the address on your ID is different than your current address, bring another thing with your current address on it (I used my car registration). When I went, the shelter had a promotion going on, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, so the adoption was free. Plus spaying/neutering, Broward County pet registration tag, microchip, and all necessary vaccinations are always included here when you adopt. I also got a cute "Gotcha Day" certificate and a free cardboard "cat-eau" :D Overall, I had a great experience adopting a new kitty from Broward County Animal Care and highly recommend that you check them out if you're looking for a new animal baby :)

Sketchy place and the worst people, so cold and heartless…read more We came in looking for our lost cat. On the first attempt, they were closed because of a meeting, so we couldn't talk to anyone. The security guard told us to come back another day through the closed gate and mentioned there's a lost pet binder. On our second visit, we parked in front and lost and found, and there was a sign saying to stay in your car. After we arrived, there was a couple who found a tiny orange kitten and tried to surrender it, so they got out of the car. The security guard yelled at them to get back in the car. They asked why, and he snapped, "Can't you read the sign" while pointing to it. They asked why again, and he didn't answer, but just ignored them. We waited for the lady to come to our car window. She asked if our cat was ours or a community cat, when we lost him, and what he looked like. We said he was a tabby, and she rolled her eyes, saying the majority are tabbies and we're probably not going to find him. We asked to come in and look, and she said no. We asked how long they keep the animals. She said usually 24 hours, even though they're supposed to keep them for 72 hours, they usually don't. We asked why. She said too many. I asked what happens to them. She said they take the address where they're found when they come in, and they release them to the same address. To me, that seems unbelievable if someone is bringing in a stray cat or lost pet, that they would just put them back out on the street. What's the point? I asked if they euthanize animals. That's when she said yes, in those 24-72 hours, if the animal is sick or can't be saved, they will put them down. I asked how it's determined, and she didn't say. We asked again to try to find our cat, and she said there's no point. I asked about the binder with pictures that the security guard told us about the first time around. She didn't want to let us see. She said the pictures are tiny and hard to see, and that it's a huge binder. We said we drove all this way that we wanted to see. She said they distribute the pets to various animal control facilities, so he could be anywhere. We insisted, so she brought the binder to the car. We did not find JJ. The security guard just grabbed the binder back from us and didn't say a word. The main lady was rude to the couple with the orange kitten. We left before we saw the outcome, but it looked like she refused to take it and gave them a pamphlet. They're better off taking it to the humane society. There was a 3rd employee in a grey shirt, along with the lady in the blue shirt and the security guard. They all made faces, rolled eyes, used huge gestures, and had terrible attitudes. I'm not sure what their problems are, but they shouldn't be working in customer service, let alone a tough job like this one that requires sensitivity. The whole thing was really shady.
