Good selection of beers. Great fresh trigger fish and the Seafood medley was a winner, both were seasoned and cooked just right. For sides the twice baked potato was good for comfort food and the fried okra was nice and firm inside (not mushy at all). The smoked chicken wings are delicious and if you want a kick you can use any of the hot sauces they keep handy. I admit the Colon Cleaner hot sauce made me nervous, but the Gator Hammock pairs with the wings very nicely. Overall a good choice for a relaxed seafood meal or a place to hang out while watching the game. read more

My husband and I went there by mistake. We were looking for a place to have lunch by the water. Then we remember that a friend told us not to go there because it was not good. But we decided to give it a try and for our surprise it was great. Our waiter Rick was courteous and fast. He even went out of his way to please me with jalapeños on my coslaw. My husband order the fish Tacos and let me tell you they were delicious, huge portion great flavor the fish was fresh. I got the fish ruben sandwich OH BOY soooo F... good I could not stop eating it!! You have to get it. Again the fish was caught that day! Love the place clean comfortable great service plus they have music too !!! I will be there for the October Fest for sure!!! We visited Get Hooked on March 22, 2012. A total of five people - two of whom were 'regulars' - had lunch there. We found a blonde hair baked into some food and discretely brought it to the attention of our waitress. The owner laughed it off and said there would be "no extra charge for it." Although pretty humorous, it was unsanitary and crass. It's clear he has no class and we will not be back. The owner should find another line of work. read more

The setting is fine, though where were were sitting there wasn't a clear view of the water. The name is actually Get Hooked Bar and Grill. The word "Bar" seems to set the scene. Though we were outside on the deck, cigarette smoke was very bothersome, since most of the patrons around us were smoking. The food was not as good as we anticipated. The fish was dry in the cod sandwich. The rolls were soft and should have been toasted or grilled. Also a couple of pickle slices would have been a nice touch with the grouper sandwich. The major taste of the grouper Rubin were the condiments in the sandwich. They and the cabbage overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. On the positive side, the beer was excellent and since it was Thursday after 3:00 PM, the prices were excellent. $3.00 for craft beer and $2.00 for regular domestic beer. The Grouper Reuben (blackened) was to die for! I substituted the 1000 Island dressing for their spicy remoulade sauce and I thought I was in heaven! Even the fries were perfect! They have just moved to their new location at the Hudson Harbor. That may have been a contributing factor in the impression the food made. We have eaten there twice since the move. They were out of several fish items and oysters on both occasions. They substituted other seafood for what was supposed to be in my meal. My food was OK but nothing special. The other couple who were with us did not finish their meals as they said they were "awful". We will try them again but will wait awhile to see if they get it together. Spent a Saturday afternoon at Get Hooked with a friend. We sat in the tiki area where there was a live band. We first shared a pound of peel n eat shrimp. Served hot with butter and extra Old Bay seasoning. The shrimp was okay but seemed way over-cooked. The meat seemed slimy and fell apart at the base when I peeled away the shelling. The band, Lawless Haze sounded great but took many breaks and didn't really engage the patrons. Still hanging when the 2nd band set up. Mixed drink of whiskey and ginger ale was acceptable but no happy hour price offered and tasted very much like low quality whiskey. Another food order of the seafood stuffed mushrooms and we shared a burger with fries. Mushrooms were cooked well and had a nice flavor. The burger was okay. Nothing special and the bun was stale. Fries had a lot of flavor and not the typical bland french fries you'd find elsewhere. The staff seemed attentive but, due to moving our seat, we seemed to lose their attention and I had to walk up to the bar to get someone's attention. Shouldn't be advertised as waterfront. It's basically in front of mangroves and next to unsightly boat storage buildings. read more

My husband and I went for lunch. Oysters and Grouper on the brain. I ordered the Oyster Sampler and my husband ordered the grouper. While the food tasted good, I'm sorry to say that almost every bite of the oyster sampler had shells in it. I was crunching shells in every bite ! Literally!!! When I mentioned to the bartender, she took my plate away, but NEVER came back to address the situation. When I finally asked her about it, she said, well the owner said that happens! I have ordered Oysters from many restaurants, including the awesome Inn On the Gulf nearby, and I have NEVER crunched shells in my mouth on EVERY bite with oysters. I wasn't looking for a free meal, I just wanted the management to make things right. BUT...they didn't care. That lack of customer service has lost my business! Being in the restaurant business I'm a very critical person. I first arrived and went to the bathroom and noticed how clean it actually was. The service was great, the food was excellent, portion size was wonderful, and the atmosphere was fun and Tranquil. Overpriced, coleslaw was just shredded greens, no dressing, French fries were so crisp they were hard, lobster roll was fake lobster with no dressing. Ever since they moved from up the street it has been going downhill . Drinks are reasonable for a tourist trap. Will not be back. read more

This is an awesome, non chain, local restaurant. Design and layout is perfect for giving the laid back, "on beach time" vibe. They've got a stage for live music and everything we've ordered here has been enjoyable. We always start our meal with a couple dozen oysters. Can't go wrong with any of their toppings. My favorite entree is the Shrimp Alfredo while my husband always orders the Lobster Roll. read more

A hidden gem! Highly recommend the calamari and oysters they were outstanding. The smoked wings need some sauce but alone had good flavor just needs a kick. The Diablo sauce is a home run. The seafood with the Diablo is outstanding and the parmesan shrimp were amazing in deed. The Mahi sandwich is great with a super fresh bun. The portions for the value are great here. We can't get this kind of value in a chain restaurant for sure. The quality of food is excellent for sure. This is our second trip here this season. We waited to be seated. Waited over 20 min for a server finally got a drink after asking for the mgr. Told by hostess there wasn't one today. FINALLY a gal showed up said mgr would take our drinks off tab. We only had one each. Served the table next to us but we had been there much longer ? People got their food before we got a drink ?! Many visits to this restaurant. After they first moved to new location, some troubles and we weren't impressed, but last couple of trips, they seem to have gotten it together. Good food, good service, enjoyable atmosphere. The menu has a good selection and I have no problem finding something to eat (not a seafood fan) and my husband can always find something to try as he loves seafood. MOST IMPORTANT REASON FOR THIS REVIEW: Excellent service by our waitress, Teara O. on the tiki bar who really went out of her way to accommodate my husband's request for a simple dish that was not on the menu. Was very excited to visit as we just moved to the area. Atmosphere great and server was super nice. Food...not so much. Our party of four ordered 3 baskets...one clam strips, one oysters and one shrimp. Other person in our party ordered the fish and grits. The fish and grits were great..but the baskets...wow. So much salt we could not even eat! I love salty food and this was beyond comprehension. After messaging their Facebook page, and after they took 2 days to answer us, we were told hope you try us again. I think not. Too much money for a pound of salt and no offer to compensate. This is the FOURTH time here and only came this time to give it just one more chance. I opted for the special snapper thinking it HAS to be good since it was the catch of the day. It was awful. The fish consistency was decent, however, the jarred sauce it was drowning in was disgusting. I couldn't even eat it after I scraped the sickening sauce off of it. The best part of the meal was the baked potato. Pretty sad for a restaurant which supposedly prides itself on being "on the water," which it really isn't. Our server, who was obviously new, was decent. We asked to speak to the manager just to let him/her know our disappointment. We are NEVER looking for something for free. I will take the loss, but I will say something about it. The "manager" (and I put that in quotes because I just can't believe that a restaurant manager would come to a patron's table with a wad of dip in his mouth) was uninterested in anything I had to say. We had a group of 13 go to dinner here. The food was excellent and the service was awesome - Brooke took very good care of us! I had the broiled seafood medley which came in a HUGE bowl with garlic-covered mussels, oysters, clams, scallops, and shrimp. Mmmm! The clam chowder was really good and the oysters on the half shell were delicious. Everybody else enjoyed the meal, too, and said they would go back. The only thing preventing me from giving a five star rating is the shabby restrooms. Otherwise, a very fine place to enjoy a meal. read more

Was recommend by a co worker very disappointed. We ordered margaritas, the waitress didn't ask rocks or frozen I had to tell her how we wanted them. We asked if we could substitute the calamari for scallops from one of the seafood platters and she said we don't substitute we can eliminate them and we could order a separate order of scallops which would have made one of our dinners $35++ (price doesn't matter). I orders crab legs that don't come as a dinner 1/2 lb. So I ordered a salad an french fries to complete as a dinner. My husband whined up ordering the scallop dinner. He orderd grilled he got blacken, they must have not been wash well cause they were sandy and some shell on them. My fries never came. And I know you won't know what kind of crab legs you get until you break them but most were empty, they must have been frozen . As a person as a former Food and beverage manager I can sadly say I was not impressed by the whole experience. I will stick to the Bay Port Inn, Hernando Beach. It may not be the best looking restaurant but we never had a bad meal there. read more

Love this place when it was Mikes dockside! Now I won't go back to "get hooked" Plates and cups were dirty with dried food and grease. When mentioning to waitress we didn't not receive clean ones and the dirty ones were left on the table. The waitress attitude wasn't welcoming at all. Food wasn't impressive. Just got back and wanted to write this while fresh in my memory. Fresh is not a word I'd use for their coleslaw - my other choice was McDonald French Fries. GAG! With a $10 chicken sandwich??? My husband got the $15 chicken alfredo - chicken wasn't cooked - Service! What service? I had to go and find a steak knife to cut my sandwich with, then I had to wash it in my water. My husband had to walk to the bar to get a second draft beer. One sandwich, one entrée certainly not rocket science. Last time we were there, they changed their smoked fish spread recipe, without noting it on the menu, and served me something with hot peppers, different fish and other stuff in it. YUK. I stopped at "get hooked" on Old Dixie one time, it was a hot day so we thought we eat inside. The temperature was not much different. There was noblode there to great us, so we waited for a few minutes, finaloly someone came out of another room (kitchen maybe) - he to9ld us to sit wherever we wanted. While waiting I had my hand on a table and when I lifted it up it was stuck in filth. We left! Tonight I thought, well, give it one more chance" hoping since you moved it would be cleaner and overall better service. N O T!! The table was sticky, the back of the booth is filthy, I took pictures! So I ordered the Captains Platter, It had a huge mound of skinny french fries, 4 shrimp, a few pieces of fish and a huge portion of overcooked calamari - nothing had any flavour, so I had to ask for additional lemons and some hot-sauce. I asked one of the girls coming to the table if she had anything spicy - she said well I can bring yo some additional Horseradish so I said- please bring me some. She dropped this little container in front of me with some gray substance inside - well aged Horseradish - the only thing missing was mold. The waitress asked me how things were, I told her the calamari are overcooked, she said - oh I'm sorry - and would you like me to have them cook you another batch - my answer "no thank you" I had lost my appetite. Not only had they been overcooked, but also it looked like I got the bottom of the fryer which also included a fishbone. I told the waitress that fishbones are not acceptable and to tell the schef. She took the bone and then came back with the excuse that they are catching their own fish and that's the reason for the bone. - Really? And by the way, it did not even contain the seafood listed and all that for $25.00 While I was sitting there I overheard the waiter on the next booth tell your cusolmters that the lobster roll was terrible and that it was artificial lobster meat. How can you deceive people like that? I am now home with a horrible taste in my mouth - never again I think that place should be closed down. read more
