Yes, adjustments are fairly quickly done, but think about any process, for example, if have a surgery. Recovery takes weeks, even months. I had an appointment scheduled for today. Prior to my appointment, the staff were friendly and helpful on the phone. Today, however, I walked in and walked right back out. The only way I can describe it is if you took a time machine to November 2019. There were six patients in the small waiting room and only one had a mask on. Neither of the two desk staff had on face coverings. When I got back to my car I called to cancel my appointment and ask if there was another time that the office was Covid-safe, and I was told that Dr Cathy believes in natural healing from Covid and that masks are a personal choice and not required by law. Uhhh .. whaaat?? I'm just floored. 258,000 known deaths and counting. Hospital systems currently at capacity. State and local mask mandates. How can they be so reckless and uninformed..?! Get off my nerves is by far the best chiropractic clinic I have ever been to. Dr. Cathy takes her time with each patient and ensures everyone receives the best care needed. I was at this place for 2 hrs before seeing the doctor. She took 10 minutes with me, adjusted my neck, told me to trust her and that she would adjust the rest on my next appointment when I asked her about my low back. How can I trust a doctor that makes me wait 2 hrs to see her before she even lays a hand on me? They did X-rays on me without even asking if I wanted them. When I asked the girl told me Dr Cathy requires them, but when I called the girl told me she "prefers" them. An assistant was "training" in the X-ray room with another girl when I overheard the trainer saying "don't worry, I'm not certified to take X-rays either, you'll get this in a week". So these aren't certified X-ray technicians? Is that even legal? I went into a room where this girl taught me stretches while sitting in a chair then did some kind of heat therapy on me without the doctor even seeing me. While I waited on my X-rays I had access to another patients records on their computer hanging in the corner. Pretty sure that's not legal either working in medical most my life. I also was diagnosed with a curvature of my spine by the girl doing the heat therapy. I asked if she was a PT, and she laughed and said "oh no, I'm in school!". Pretty sure she can't diagnose X-rays then. I go into an ice and tens unit and get set up on that with no doctor in sight, with another patient In the room with me while they were asking her questions about her pain and medical record. Not appropriate at all in my mind. After 2 hrs of waiting and some pink haired lady going off on her workers down the hall, I heard workers talking about the chiropractor drinking beer in the break room as I walked out from being adjusted. That doesn't make me feel good at all. I get the bill from my insurance company and after paying $275, I still owed this facility $202!! I researched and asked my insurance company exactly what I was being charged for. It seems that this chiropractor is charging for services performed or witnessed by her, herself or a trained therapist for a certain amount of time. At no point other than the adjustment did she "observe" or "perform" anything! 25 mins of hands on therapeutic exercises from the Dr or trained therapist? She never stretched me once, 10 mims of "ultrasound " therapy done by the doctor? Again, not the case as she didn't do it nor was in the room. And they did it for 4 mins not 15min as charged, I saw the setting on the timer. Oh and not to mention the insurance lady asked if she adjust three areas of my spine. Three? Ha! I told her she adjusted my neck by turning it left and right. And as I said before she told me she'd do the rest next $75 visit and to trust her. So how does she charge adjusting three areas of my spine when she only does one? They did give me my X-rays, but I sure won't return for my $75 visit. They tell me it's $75 each visit until my deductible is met, no matter what services I get! If I were you, I'd drive right out of the parking lot or not even make an appointment here. Like most, I was very wary about going to a chiropractor. I had been struggling with back issues for years and just kinda dealt with it...until I couldn't. I went to Dr. Cathy on a recommendation. She changed my life. She took the time to explain every little detail and told me the cold hard truth. At first, I went several times a week because that's what was necessary for me. I have to say I stumbled upon Dr Cathy and her clinic while working in Baton Rouge when my back went out. I was desperate and found the closest Chiropractor to my office - what a stroke of luck. Dr Cathy and her terrific staff took such good care of me. It wasn't about "cracking" my back - it was about treating the trauma. My appointment at this practice was at 5 PM; I arrived at 5:02 PM. It was 6:30 PM - in other words, 1.5 HOURS - before I actually saw the doctor. While I was there, a couple of other patients who had been waiting for over an hour joked about the wait and/or expressed irritation. They also hadn't received any sort of explanation or apology. Basically, I had the sense that extraordinarily long wait times are business as usual at this practice. My appointment was for an initial visit, and the charge was $150 (compared to $50, for usual adjustments), ostensibly because it includes an assessment and discussion with the chiropractor. The doctor and I met for a total of 10 minutes. This isn't an exaggeration - at 6:30 PM, I was texting my husband that I still hadn't seen the chiropractor when she finally walked into the exam room. By 6:45 PM, she and I had met, she'd adjusted me, I'd paid for the appointment, departed, and was about a mile or so into the drive when it occurred to me to check the time. For those who are concerned about the quality of treatment provided, I do want to be fair: the chiropractic adjustment I received was just fine. I had increased mobility and felt better aligned afterwards. My negative review concerns the 1.5-hour wait time to see the doctor, and the indifference to treating patients like this. As an aside, I'll note that shortly after my negative experience at this practice, I tweaked something in my back and felt I needed to go back to a chiropractor. I weighed going back to Get Off My Nerves Chiropractic (where I'd already paid the hefty initial consult fee so the fee would presumably now just be $50, but where I felt disrespected by the disregard for my time) against finding a new chiropractor. I chose to find a new licensed, certified chiropractor. My new provider saw me within 10 minutes of my appointment time, spent about 45 minutes with me discussing my daily activity level, stretching routine, etc., gave me a great adjustment, and charged me only $86 for the initial visit (compared to $150 at Get Off My Nerves Chiropractic). His charge for routine adjustments going forward is less than or comparable to Get Off My Nerves Chiropractic, depending upon the specific services being provided. read more
