First off I want to say that it is well worth your time to stop into Get Your Fun On and check the place out. Also note that most of the photos above are from their previous location when they shared space with Famous Faces and Funnies the comic book store. GYFO is in the same plaza just a few doors down in a freshly renovated storefront. I think they about tripled their retail space but lost some gaming area. There is still plenty of room to play and an extensive demo library of boardgames. The largest Pokémon League in Brevard county meets here Friday from 5 to 7pm. read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a bit of an anomaly. I like so many things that span different preferences often breaking boundaries. One thing I love to do is play old-fashioned board games. However, I am more into the updated games for older, more mature, people such as I. That is why I love Get Your Fun On. Get Your Fun on is a unique place as it stands out from other places here in Melbourne, Florida as being one of the only, if not the only, place one can play old school board games. Moving from location to location, it is now settled in in the corner tenant spot in the shopping plaza on the northeast quadrant of US-192 and Wickham Rd. Upon entering, you will notice that Get Your Fun On is actually sharing their tenant space with another nerd/geek staple store of Brevard County, Famous Faces & Funnies (separate review for the Famous Faces & Funnies side later on). Get Your Fun On's side of the store is the southside. This is not your typical boardgame store. You will rarely find games sold in Walmart or the sadly-now-closing Toys R' Us. Instead, you'll find unique niche games that further the experience of board games. Some examples that may be popular among people are Settlers of Catan and King of Tokyo. There are also popular card games (Magic:The Gathering, Pokemon) and tabletop games (Dungeons and Dragons) too. I won't fully detail every single game and/or service Get Your Fun On has or this review will be ridiculously long. Just top in and talk to the Burnell Family, the family who founded and runs the game shop for more details. Upon entering, you will learn that Get Your Fun On is actually a store that shares its space with another store that caters to nerd culture: Famous Faces & Funnies. The south side is mostly specified for Get Your Fun On and boy do they have a ton of games to choose from. They have grown-up favorites like Settlers of Catan and Cards Against Humanity plus a growing library of more games for everyone to enjoy. Being it is a game store, there are many events held here too. Magic: The Gathering is one of the more popular card games played here and they will have events held almost every night to it such as draft and early releases. Ultimately, this place is as I said earlier, my go-to for gaming (board games not video games). The people here are really nice especially the owners the Burnell Family. I would definitely suggest this place for anyone who just wants to check it out. Probably the only issue is that they have only one restroom for everyone and it is just one toilet. This place is simply fan-friggin-tastic... Full disclosure: This review is a few months late. I was here at least a couple of times during the 2018 holidays looking for gifts, and it did not disappoint. The location is an old dinner movie theater which provides for a boatload of space. They have a main area where all sorts of board games, some of which I had no idea existed, to those oldies I am familiar with. There are a couple of rooms in the back, one for gamers to use and the other for even more selection of games. I would describe this place as a gamers heaven and that is no stretch. If you're looking for a game or just want to reacquaint yourself with one from your youth, drop by and see what they have. You probably won't be disappointed. read more

LDR:If your a new player, or havent been here before, save yourself the trouble and go anywhere else. I was to be visiting my grandma during the game day event at my home store in Las Vegas. I called ahead to the shop in Floridia to make sure I could play. I showed up 30 minutes early, I pre-paid and I expressed the fact I was from out of town. I sat in the play area waiting the tournament. When I noticed the kids across opening packs I asked around about the tournament. They had somehow started it, with no announcements and said I was in the wrong for somehow not sitting in the right spot, when there was no directions given. I expressed my concerns about not playing and was asked to leave. They made fun of me for being "salty" as they gave me my money back and walked me out. They knew I was a great player from Las Vegas and didn't want to lose there stores Trophy to an outsider. I was outcast and denied play. When I mentioned to them that it was not fair and they denied my chance to win they replied with "We are casual here". I find this behavior atrocious and disgusting, there was no option given to me to get to play in any form, and I was made to leave. They were afraid of competition. read more

Went back on a weekday and the experience was totally different. A friendly, helpful gentleman (who kinda looked like skrillex) checked the computer for the availability and exact shelving numbers of the minis I was searching for. When I went to the section a young lady who was busy checking stock happily greeted me and told me to let her know if there was anything she could help me with. Customer service is a HUGE deal to me, and I'm the kind of guy who will drive a little farther and pay a little more for businesses that deliver it. Knowledgeable friendly staff, they are a family away from home. If they don't have what you are looking for they will gladly order it for you. Until Covid shut the game room down you could go in and try any number of the new board games they have out for people to try free of charge. They stay late so people can finish there games and run many events. They have a real community built at that store. I know they enjoy the game room as much as their customers. With Covid endangering there staff and customers it has been hard for them to limit access to the store and gameroom, but they still maintain a SAFE friendly place that we all anticipate the day that things can get back to normal. One of my favorite places on earth! Great staff and huge space for gaming. You couldn't ask for more in your game store with almost unlimited resources for gaming. New Haven Ave. Don't let the small store front fool you though, there is a huge space inside. With a massive selection of board games, role-playing games, collectible card games, and the sundry products that go with them, the chances are that Get Your Fun On will have what your looking for. When you get there, don't be shy: the staff is hospitable and knowledgeable and ready to get you the game that is just right for you! Explore the aisles where you can find all kinds of games or wander into the huge gaming room and make some friends. For a nominal table fee, you can stick around and play all day and borrow some games off the sample wall where I am sure you will find your next favorite game. If you do, be sure to purchase it here.
