The trainers are VERY nice and polite. The owner, however, is anything but. I signed up twice --- the first time before I had gone to college, and had enough free time to commit to a schedule. It worked out fine until I had to cancel due to financial problems (I enrolled in college and could no longer afford to be in college and to afford the $41.48 membership fee, so I had to cancel.) I did this legitimately, by paying the $99 cancellation fee after about 5-6 months. After that, since I was in college, I did not attend the gym for about 2-3 years, until this summer when I had about 3 months to sign up again, this May (my new contract actually began 5/29/13). So, I thought fine, I can afford this until I get a stable income after graduating college (I am graduating this year.) However, as the months passed on, I noticed another charge on my bank account for $46.59 in ADDITION to the $41.48 which was already taken out. I was fully aware of the yearly $25.00 fee, which had already came out, but this was something else. This extra charge was explained to me (much later, I might add) and the staff of the bank as an "insufficient funds" charge. The $20 "insufficient funds charge" + $41.48 - $46. I called the gym the very day I noticed the charge, and immediately asked to speak to the owner, however she was on vacation at the moment and they said I needed to wait for a week until she got back. This was not acceptable due to the fact I had missing funds in my account at the moment, and I could not wait for the owner to sort it out with me. I am a college student and need EVERY cent in my account, and I do not account for such errors like "double billing" and other things that would cause my account to go into the negative. I had to call my bank and file a chargeback for the extra amount of the $46. Bank of America explained this charge as a merchant error, and the bank refunded me the amount. The gym owner very rudely stated when she called today, that she disputed the charge against her company, because it was "not her error" and said that the bank is going to retract the refunded amount from my bank. The owner, Kristie, was VERY rude and didn't seem to be very understanding of the problem. She insisted that she "did nothing wrong", and when I mentioned i'd like to cancel out of pure frustration and because I was moving out of town soon (and would be signing up with a much cheaper gym) in addition to all the trouble this has caused me with the bank (with overdraft fees and calling both the bank AND the gym to

The nurse practitioner recommended it to me, and I have no regrets at all about joining -- it has been a wonderful experience. When you start, they evaluate your fitness level, and design a workout for you, also spending an hour of time with you making sure you know how to set up the machines and how to do each exercise without hurting yourself. I worked out on my own mostly over the summer and also tried the hula hoop class with Tanya. Not only is it a very fun class -- it is a good workout that raises your heart rate and makes you sweat. This Fall, I joined the Diva Boot Camp. I am far from a Diva, but I have found a great group of women who support each other with making it through some tough workouts and do so consistently. Kristie, the gym owner, leads the camp, and she keeps the workouts varied and interesting. She is encouraging and tough all at the same time. I was new to the area, and this has really made me feel like I have a community of people who are becoming friends and who are striving together to meet their goals. Next June, when I go back for my annual physical, I suspect it will be a very different experience. For anyone who has not tried an "all women's gym" and is curious -- I highly recommend it. It just takes the edge off and let's you focus on your workouts and not worry about whether you look presentable. There is not a lot of vanity -- it's a place where women can work out and feel at ease whatever your size or fitness level. Go for it -- you have nothing to lose (except a few pounds) ; )

The machines work well and everything is very clean. I don't do classes but there is very much a community vibe to the classes and silver sneaker members. The treadmills and elliptical machines are newer and in good shape. They have a good selection of weight machines. Cons- Being manned part time it can be hard to get in touch with ownership and often they aren't there during the times that they post where it is supposed to be manned. No showers, just a small changing area. The selection of equipment in the free weight area is strange- they have 2 smith machines, 2 curl wedges and 2 chest press machines that you load weights onto. No normal bench press or squat racks or row equipment. The machines are nice but free weight area is pretty sad which is strange because you'd think it would be cheaper. All in all a very nice gym that could be perfect if it had a little bit better free weight equipment.

These guys are hands on and involved in the facility in every aspect (Malibu Fitness in Farmington as well). They are the nicest guys and actually listen to their members. If something breaks, it's fixed before the next day. They keep this place running smoothly and spotless! The clientele here is also one of the best groups of people I've ever met at a gym. There was no music. She wasn't there early to prepare and they literally talked about alcohol and drinking the entire class. I love camaraderie in a group, but I was there to exercise and though I was able to get a workout, I was so distracted by everything else in the unpleasantness of the focus of the class that I couldn't wait to get out. Enter your code and settings, and once a day your membership allowed you to sit back and enjoy a 10 minute hydro massage. Not any more. Without notice, management decided to abruptly end this free gym membership feature and turn it into a revenue stream. Now it charges a monthly extra fee. Another member and I discovered this service subtraction on a recent Saturday morning when we entered our individual codes but the machine failed to respond. I walked over to the front desk to ask them to reboot the machines and was told that management suddenly realized that the hydro massage tables were operating in the red, and thus an extra fee would be charged. There was supposed to have been an email that explained this to members but, sorry, apparently it never went out because many members had questioned why the tables weren't working. I wonder what other machines management is going to soon discover have been operating in the red ? Doesn't the club own these massage machines ? How can members using them cause the club to operate in " the red" ? Bikes ? Treadmills ? Rowing machines ? BTW we were told that the steam room was supposed to have been fixed this Spring but it's the end of June, 2025 and it's still out of commission. Some additional red flags: one of the hand held hairdryers in the men's locker room has had a sign on it saying " out of order" for more than two weeks, there are obvious cut backs in regular cleaning and maintenance - the white tiled top step into the hot tub was filthy last time I was there, Kleenex boxes are no longer provided, plastic bags for wet suits are no longer provided etc. I just hope the local health department regularly checks the water in the pool !

That is tough to do, especially in the winter when it's dark and cold, and even more so if you also happen to be over 50. What kept me honest? Accountability. Knowing a trainer was waiting for me to show up kept me motivated. At first I was completely out of my element, but over time I found self confidence. It was amazing to find out that I could do things formerly considered 'impossible.' This is personalized fitness at its finest, and if you put in the effort, the results will follow.
