It is a distinctive Grade B listed Georgian house which offers luxury accommodation and wonderful food. We had the blue room - a four poster bed and a large bathroom with a bath on legs! The personal touches in the room include: a welcoming decanter of sherry, fresh fruit, bathrobes as well as a television, direct-dial telephone and a refreshment tray. There is also a lounge for resident's use. On arrival, we were bought tea and shortbread. The dining room is beautiful and has a large piano in it. Would HIGHLY recommend. Slightly more pricey than other B&B's, @ £33pp, but well worth the money.

Recently Allister and Margo built this new home with just two rooms for rent. One on the main floor and one upstairs. Both big and perfectly decorated, with all the amenities and snacks. Breakfast was delicious and we didn't even need to arrange in advance for gluten-free, dairy-free yogurt, bread, etc. Off-street parking. Use of a living/dining room. Beautiful islands and parks along the Ness River. Only downside might be that it is a 30 minute walk into town, but Allister and Margo are more than willing to provide a lift (no charge). Dinner reservations, touring advice, even help with laundry- no problem! Our original B&B was unavailable and that owner sent us here. Such great luck. This was perfection. Margo has learned in 26 years how to build a perfect B&B and provide the most delightful experience.

The room we had was a "family room" and it was HUGE, great for an economical choice for a family with kids. Breakfast was above and beyond fantastic. The chef definitely knows his stuff. In addition to toast, cereals, fruit, etc., we were served both porridge and a full Scottish breakfast. We sampled the smoked haddock and poached egg, grilled breakfast with black pudding, eggs, sausage, etc., and the scrambled egg and salmon options. All three choices were excellent! We really hope to return and spend a few days at this quaint spot.

On our second day, we saw walkers clad only in t shirts, so you can tell how successful we were. We did better with the choice of hotel. The Maple Court is set just yards from the fast flowing River Ness (the fastest flowing river, apparently), and there are great walks along the banks both into the city centre and over the rather juddering footbridge to the other bank. Arriving tired and glassy eyed off the rather rocky sleeper, we were able to check in our baggage and go off in search of breakfast. Our room was large, bright and airy, and confortably decorated in soft pastels and pine. Trendy it wasn't but the room was very welcoming, and we found the hotel a great base to go exploring. There is a small bar in the grounds. Breakfasts in the hotel were large and filling, with options of cooked breakfasts, kippers and, of course, porridge. We had dinner at the hotel one evening, where we were one of only two tables. The food was excellent, and the price modest. We booked our stay on a preferential rate through the Scottish Tourist board, and got three nights for the price of two. Our stay here was a real bargain, and we will certainly go back if we are in Inverness again.

Our rooms were warm, comfortable and inviting. We came back everyday after our adventurers to find them cleaned and freshened. Every morning, our gracious hostess prepared us the most fabulous breakfasts, more food than we could possibly eat. Everything was perfect from the beautiful table settings, warm dining room down to the last tea and biscuit. We were also happy to realize that we could not hear other guests as they moved through the house. The house was very quiet, yet we all met in the common areas and had a delightful time. Our hostess, Hazel was so delightful. I do not believe I have ever met a person so happy and eager to make you feel good. That was so refreshing and made us feel like we were home. I looked forward to seeing her bubbly smile each morning. The location was perfect. We were right in walking distance to everything. My husband and own a b&b in the America, we were so delighted to stay in one that treats their guests the way we try to treat ours, like family. We feel we have made a home away from home. The room itself was not that big, but it was spacious enough. We were in the top floor, so there was a neat little garret window that you could kind of sit in and read a book or just enjoy the view. The bathroom was surprisingly large with plenty of room to place all your toiletries a the shower was watertight and had more than sufficient water pressure and temperature range (which were both adjustable). Breakfast was prompt with Graham cooking and serving the the dining room downstairs, and the food was quite nice. I noticed an award on the wall that said The Ghillies had won "Friendliest B&B" - and the owner, Mary, couldn't deserve this more! She was so kind and welcoming, and truly made us feel at home. We stayed in the twin room right in the peak of the house. It was so charming - complete with tartan carpet. The room was quite spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom. It got a bit chilly at night being right under the roof, but the beds had piles of blankets and we slept very well. The location is excellent. It's a quick 10-15 minute walk into town, and the B&B looks right onto the River Ness with beautiful views! Breakfast was top notch as well and we enjoyed chatting with Mary throughout our stay. Excellent place who go well above and beyond for service. Had a mix up with taxis and their SafeCab…read moreapp and they called and got it squared away in minutes. We left early for planned events a couple times and they brought breakfast to our room at 6am and wanted to at 3am when we left for the airport. Had a bad day so they gave us a couple flasks of whiskey. The area is historic and beautiful. They warned us that while Uber shows it was there, they are not and they charge, then never show up. The only thing I could say was a little disappointing was no AC so we kept the windows opened as it was cool enough and they advertised a small fridge but they had none. Lastly, we prepaid for breakfast but if you wanted something other than a Scottish breakfast, you had to pay for it like waffles or pancakes. Other than that, a perfect stay.
