Easy 5 star and delicious experience. The people who work here are so kind and the lady that walks around chatting and cleaning the front dining room is wonderful. ZANESVILLE, Ohio - A couple times a year the missus and I do a 16- to 18-hour round trip drive on 70. Generally it's boring highway food. Then, we discovered Giacomo's. Friday afternoon, around 1sh, not empty but plenty of seating available. Clean. Staff all friendly. We expected 'oh, this'll probably be a perfectly fine sandwich.' Wrong. This was dang good sandwich experience. She ordered chicken salad on a Giacomo's bun w/out tomato and lettuce ($10.50 including bag of chips). Bun definitely homemade, fresh, little dusting of flour, good consistency, soft but not like those grody grocery store hamburger buns. The salad itself had a fresh, light herbal seasoning. Actual cut-up chicken breast instead of processed canned chicken. Not too much mayo. Sandwich held together well. Overall, a solid, nice sandwich - she'd order again. My Giacomo's Club ($11.50, w/chips) was da bomb. Big hefty sandwich, thick with meat and cheese and bacon. A nice light grilling of the bread made in-house. A club sandwich isn't a sexy sandwich, but this was something I'd 100% get again. The chips were an Ohio brand, which was nice. Got a biscotti, which was surprisingly soft-ish instead of hard crunch, and bits of broken candy cane on the crust. Quite nice, we'd get again. And we got a Ho-ho cupcake (chocolate, with a chocolate drizzle frosting and white cream frosting, reminiscent of a ho-ho). Not too sweet. Moist. Nicely done. Total damage, with drinks, $39. We very much will be stopping here again on future road trips. Big thumbs up. Pro-tip: not open Sundays. read more

Thank you Yelp for guiding us out-of-towners to this wonderful Italian bakery. While RVing our way to Illinois, we wanted to celebrate our 49th anniversary in a special way. We planned a pasta dinner, but wanted quality Italian bread to accompany it. Which we definitely found at Giacomo's. But wait, there's more. To add to our celebration, we bought coffee and the best biscottis we have ever had. Coffee served in a pretty, decorative mug. Before leaving we added coffee cake, and veggie subs to our "loot". Whenever I'm in Zanesville during the day, I almost always get a craving for an Addornetto's salad. If it's before the restaurant next door opens, I know that I can swing by here to scoop up one of my favorite, hometown meals. For those that don't know, Giacomo's is a part of the Adornetto's, Market House family. This where all they're bread and a lot of their goodies are made. I love that I can grab a salad, or goodies, or even a sandwich if I'm really hungry. They also serve coffee drinks and while it's currently closed, they do have a small dining area. At the moment they are doing go-to orders and I believe you can either call ahead to place or simply pull up and wait in line. Everyone is friendly, the product is very consistent, and the feeling of "home" when I dive into their eats is one that's with me for life. read more

This place has gone downhill quite a bit. It used to be my favorite place, now the service is not that great, and the atmosphere is tired and unkept. I went there and got a salad and sandwich. The sandwich didn't have the lettuce I asked for. So I went back up and they slapped on a single piece of lettuce on it, after I waited a few minutes for the salesperson to get her small child off the counter. If you are serving food over this counter (which they were) you don't allow your toddler on it. Then I asked for a baguette. They servers looked at each other and the one waiting on me said, "I guess that's our last baguette." If they don't want to sell it, DONT SELL IT. Or make more! Don't act rude like that to your customer. I don't know if I will be back. I used to go there all the time. I left for college for a couple years and come back to find this place gone downhill. read more

I always stop here when back in town for Lunch. Unlike the Pizza Place this place has gotten better over time to me, the breads are always fresh and made of the best ingredients, the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable, and will go out of their way to help you. I love the Sandwiches , the Ruben is AWESOME, the Chicken Salad is Great. The atmosphere is always relaxing and bright! Went yesterday morning and ordered a hot mocha cappuccino. There were 2 young girls at the front register. One was chatting away to another worker about her student loans. (Was not acknowledged at all). I got my $3.50 mocha. Went to my car. It seemed very light... I opened the lid... it was 3/4 froth and just a bit of coffee. I went back in and poured the coffee out into a different cup. The girl who made it asked what was wrong. I explained that it was mostly froth & asked if she could pot more coffee in it. She was super rude and told me that that is how a cappuccino was to be made!! I have gone there before and have not had any issues... but I don't think I will be going back any time soon. read more

Very friendly staff. Atmosphere of the place is super. They have free wifi as well which makes it a wonderful place to go and have meetings with clients. The salads are amazing! So delicious! So so so good. Everything I eat there is incredible. I wish the tomato soup and creamy chicken with bow tie pasta soup was available everyday. It's just too expensive for me to enjoy often so I miss those soups when they aren't offered. The bread is the best. I love their bread with real butter dipped in soup. I also love the grilled veggie sandwich. It tastes great with or without the cheese. I wish I could have Giaccomos in my kitchen. Their homemade bread is amazing! I like to stop in for lunch and have one of the (several) great sandwiches and a bowl of soup. Also, on the way out I'll usually buy a cheese spread to have with crackers at home. Not a fan of their "other place" next door but Giacomo's is one of my all-time faves. read more

This little cafe offers everything from delicious homemade soups to home baked pastries and breads. Recently they started selling their in house made pasta sauce and salad dressings, and they are now open for breakfast 7 days a week. One word of warning: unless you have the appetite of a stevedore , order HALF a breakfast sandwich. I recommend their chicken bow tie sop on Wednesdays and the tomato basil soup served on Fridays. read more

I love Giacomo's! I visit there about once a week for lunch. Although there is often a waiting line, their ample, hard working staff usually get me in and out with my to-go sandwich in under 15 minutes, or under 5 if I'm just grabbing one of the pre-made salads. I am vegetarian, so I usually get the veggie sandwich, which is on their home made ciabatta bread, with yummy sauteed veggies and cheese. They also have an amazing carrot cake, with optional walnut topping, great no-bakes, cookies, and other fresh breads. There is a huge parking lot, so that is never a problem. I wouldn't go there just for coffee or espresso though, it's not exactly their forte, but at least those drinks are not overpriced for what they are. read more

Overall they have good food but be careful with take out. I order from there multiple times per week for lunch and have my order messed up half the time. Today drew the line. I asked for honey mustard on my sandwich and the sandwich maker made a mistake and added spivey mustard. Instead of getting a bother slice of bread, she doused my sandwich with the honey mustard to cover it up. My sandwich was un edible! Always a line. Focuses on lunch, not open for dinner. Everything is nice and fresh. Soup is OK. Mostly snooty upper class patrons. I enjoy coming here covered in grass and dirt and dressed in worn work clothes, it makes the locals and suits squirm. Worth a try for lunch.
