We have been SO happy with everything about our experience at TLE. As a family we have experienced 4 different age level classrooms and therefore had a number of different teachers and have loved each one. We have honestly loved every one. The teachers are all so engaged and loving and I really trust my kids are happy and in good hands each day. My oldest talks constantly about her teachers and my youngest will jump out of our arms each morning to see her teacher. They offer so many activities to keep the kids engaged, learning and having fun -- lots of reading and singing, pretend play, arts and crafts, science activities as they get older. Even my little one does multiple art projects a week in the infant room. The classrooms are big, bright, and clean. Plus there are a few additional spaces in the school (indoor playground) and another big play room that the kids all visit weekly. The kids also go outside daily if weather allows. Pre-covid they all went to the playground but now they go for neighborhood walks. I also really appreciate the communication from the teachers and the school administrators. The teachers post photos and notes all day long and are always open to questions and communication from parents. Reena (Owner) and Danyele (Educational Director) communicate often via email and also frequently set up zoom calls to be able to answer parents questions or allow the space for teachers and parents to connect. They have been so transparent and communicative all year as we navigate Covid together. Health and Safety is also a top priority at the school. Teachers are all in masks, there is no cross over between classrooms so kids interact with the same small group of kids and teachers everyday, and there are a number of other practices in place (indoor only shoes, drop off and pick up at the door, temp checks, lots of cleaning and hand washing, rotation of shared spaces like the indoor playground to allow time to clean and sanitize, etc. Overall we have been so happy with our experience at the school and are grateful for the community its connected us to.

The teachers are so creative and engaging, my daughter never wants to leave school. One day she comes home talking about the painting projects, the next day she breaks into the songs she has learned, another day she talks me through the process of tilling the ground and planting seeds -- turns out they had spent a couple days tilling the ground and planting grass in the backyard. This school encourages a sense of independence and inquisitiveness in its students, and has engaged and delighted my daughter since day 1. It is a truly refreshing and unique find in the otherwise daunting world of Brooklyn preschools.

Best of all, they will learn to love school and will look forward to every day at OFNS. OFNS kids generally do very well when they move on to kindergarten. As a parent-run cooperative, parents are much more involved with the school and each other than is probably typical. Up until the 2022-2023 school year, Chickpeas was a parent-run cooperative preschool for 40 years. There is a social-justice focus to the preschool curriculum. But, you need to ask whether the teachers go too far with 3 and 4 year olds when your child tells you they are "scared of policemen because they kill people", with no further context. The school created their own Covid policies that went above and beyond CDC recommendations and DoH policies because that is what the teachers were comfortable with. They continue to hold very strict policies after the rest of the world has decided it's time to relax them. This is fine until the school was closed for the equivalent of almost 2 months for Covid cases. The lead teacher/executive director has been lead teacher at the school for a few years and taught there for several more. She has deeply ingrained issues with people she sees as privileged. I don't understand why she continues to work in the field she does, given the fact that small children have parents that teachers need to interact with. She has difficulty regulating her emotions when things don't go her way and the stresses of Covid have not helped. She refuses to acknowledge different perspectives and instead sees them as attacks. She has shared damaging and fabricated stories about interactions with parents. The list goes on. Both the lead teacher and one of the other teachers resigned last year. This should have been a good opportunity to hire new people and give the school new life, but the majority of parents didn't want to do the necessary work to find new teachers. There was mediation, and then the 2 teachers changed their minds and decided to stay. This was a mistake. The school has a contract with the DOE for UPK and this 2022-2023 school year it has new 3K funding, thanks to the stewardship of a few involved parents.

And I quote "if we give your son extra time then we would have to give everyone extra time" clearly displaying their lack of understanding what an IEP is. We handed the nurse a picture of our son and details in his epilepsy. Copies enough for every teacher and staff that he would be in contact with. Two months into the trimester, not one teacher knew he had epilepsy nor received our packet. There were so many problems with this beautiful school with their hard wood decorative cut logs, newly constructed labs, fish tanks and dogs and peacocks roaming the grounds. We were lured in by the appearance but that all it was. The school is very popular so my son was crammed into a classroom with 40 students!! Very disappointed and wanted to let the principal know when we decided to leave. He rudely and unceremoniously could care less about constructive criticism and was clear that we were leaving so he had nothing to say to us. Be better human beings Kellenburg let alone Catholics.

We became close to the staff and teachers, they really work to make it feel like family. The educational approach is child lead, inclusive, and exciting. My daughter was so happy to come to school. They have many flexible schedule options and an amazing summer camp (that our daughter will be attending next summer, even though we are going to public pre k in the fall). There are a lot of private pre k programs in the neighborhood, but in my extensive research, none felt as special as PKA and I am so thrilled our daughter had the opportunity to attend. We love PKA!

They're always available for feedback and/or concerns, they love the kids, and run a tight ship (rules, curriculum, etc.) that works. - The teachers - Both locations have amazing teachers who are loving, kind, great teachers, and help our Gabriel and other kids LEARN. - The extras - they'll bring in Brian who plays guitar and the kids sing along, take field trips, do yoga (really), send photos to the parents, balance art/reading/play time/napping, etc. - They CARE! I'm new to this. First kid, etc. On several occasions I'd ask Josie or Quinn or the teachers for suggestions, tips, etc. and they would always solid, caring advice with encouragement. - I can RELAX - leaving your kid with somebody else is scary. You can't help but worry...is he okay? Are the teachers watching him? Taking care of him? Teaching him? I TRUST that he's okay and that he's being taken care of as if he's the child of Quinn, Josie, and/or any of the teachers. I KNOW he's safe, having fun, and learning. That means a whole bunch!!

Teachers are amazing. My picky boy started eating healthier foods at home after he started attending this daycare. He also is learning Russian there. They teach him a lot of good manners that I noticed him doing at home like bringing his dished to kitchen after meals. Also he doesn't get sick there often which I love.
