We contracted Gilberto Zerpa 5 months ago to redo 2 bathrooms. 2 stand up showers and 3 sinks. He was very attentive at first and communication was fast and prompt. Half way through the job Gilbert requested for us to pay the entire cost upfront, which we agreed and trusted him, he had seemed like a nice person and had very good reviews. Our decision to pay the entire amount had unfortunately turned out to be a big mistake on our part. For the past month Gilbert has disappeared on us leaving the job incomplete, phone calls and messages go unanswered. The few times we were able to get a response, it has been excuse after excuse. Gilberto Zerpa did the shower/tiles, plumbing and electrical work himself and we have come to find out he is not licensed to do so. The tiles are all uneven and the corners are already cracking. After 5 months Gilbert has left our home with uneven tiles, pipes sticking out of the walls, a missing sink, missing shower glass door, and a garage full of old construction materials. All of which he received payment for and it's been 5 months from when it started. read more

After reading all the positive reviews I was really hopeful that I'd found a handyman that was professional (knows what he'd doing) and reliable. (does what he says he's going to do.) This was not my experience. I really liked Gilberto when we spoke. I had a difficult situation with a tenant that turned us into the city of Daytona Beach. We had a deadline to meet. I was very clear about the work that needed to be done and the deadline. I scheduled the job out about a week out to work around his schedule. In addition to this, he told me his daily rate was $200, I offered him $100 extra for the day as an incentive to make sure we got the work done. The day before I called to confirm the work and to let him know the tenant was expecting him. He then told me that based on my email description of the job (which we discussed for about 20 mins before I sent the email) that it would take two days and he only planned for one day and that he was now booked for 18 days on another project and would not be able to help me. I told him this put me in a really bad spot and I really needed him to keep his commitment. I asked if he would be willing to do the one day of work we had planned on and I'd find someone else to help me on the other items we could not get done. His response was..."My apologies for not answering. Yesterday my wife called to tell me that I have my son sick". I am happy to say I have found my go to person for things that need fixed around my house! Gilberto and his wife did an awesome job fixing water damage in our house and fixing the floors. He was quick to respond and came the next day to see what was needing to be done. They came the next day to fix it. They did a great job with assessing what was causing the leak and fixing that, instead of only replacing the wood. I was so happy with their work, they came out the next day to regroup my shower. Gilberto came over and gave me a free estimate in a very timely manor. The job estimate was not the cheapest, but he was willing to do the framing and ceiling I wanted. Others just wanted to do the drywall. He completed the job over the Father's Day weekend (less than two weeks after the estimate). Work was thorough and professional. read more

I provided a photograph and dimensions of the fireplace and this company couldn't provide a quote. This explains why Ill stick with bigger companies who advertise since they are the ones looking to do business. Smaller companies can't handle large projects so don't waste your time. read more

Was a no-show for a confirmed appt that he requested I confirm on Yelp. I called him after he didn't show up and he said I wasn't on his schedule?! After he sent me a calendar confirmation?! Then said he would check and call me back and he never called me back! Terrible customer service. Gilbert Handyman services did an amazing job on a few odd jobs I had around the house. They replaced all of my toilet mechanisms and painted all the trim, doors, and baseboards in my house.
