I've been referred to a neurologist by my pcp and originally started looking in the Mesa area as that's closer to me. However, the closest neurologist offices were either booked out for months or simply didn't answer their phones nor return voice-mails I left. Fortunately, I found Gilbert neurology, and although they have closer offices in Mesa, those too had limited appointments. So, I ultimately ended up coming to this location. I will compliment their front and back office staff as they have excellent customer service skills. The practitioners are also caring and understanding. Most calls are returned within one business day. I'm fortunate to be able to come here even though it's roughly 30 minutes one way from my home - a small price to pay for the excellent care I've received to date.

I was really worried about a cyst in my brain. It didn't need an operation, but I really wanted to…read moreknow why. I was extremely worked up. The front desk staff was super friendly and had a strong air of competence. The clinician, Thomas, was handsome, friendly, and beyond competent. No question was beneath him. We knew he was rushed, but he didn't rush us at all. We knew we were talking to an expert. How comforting and assuring! My family is so grateful for Thomas today! And just in time for the holidays. I'd recommend this clinic to absolutely anyone. If you can get a referral to these people, you definitely should.

Ok, here goes: My…read moresurgeon, Dr. Kakarla, is amazing. Very competent and has helped me (I'm declining to say what surgeries I've had) tremendously. I cannot speak highly enough about him. However, (and this is a very big deal to me) I want others to know before agreeing to surgery about Barrow's philosophy on pain control. I have had two surgeries with Dr. K. within less than a year. The second one is known to be one of the most painful surgeries one can have, which indeed it was. Yet, I was given a prescription for only a minimum amount of pain meds when discharged from St. Joseph's. Not even close to enough. Here's the issue that I want to caution others about. Barrow *WILL NOT* refill pain medication. In excrutiating pain a week out from surgery, I had to reach out to my primary care doc's office, speak with very kind people (Honor Health) do a virtual appointment with my pcp, speak with another very kind nurse and have my spouse go get the meds from the pharmacy. My pcp was stunned that I was sent home with such a limited supply of pain meds and that they *WILL NOT* refill medication. Had I not had a primary care doc at all or one that did not understand this was an absolutely legitimate request, according to Barrow, I would have had to go to a local ER, pay a $500 copay (in my case) just to walk in the door, then get whatever additional bill for seeing a physician all to get a $10 prescription. Upon calling Barrow to ask about the severe pain I was in, Dr K's resident told me the pain I was experiencing (an 8 on the pain rating scale) was expected and that I could need narcotic pain medication for 3 to 4 weeks. Lack of post-surgical pain support is a deal breaker situation for me and I want to make sure others are aware of this before signing that consent for surgery form.

If I could give less stars I would. Every negative review you read about this place is 100%…read moreaccurate and then some. It takes over 5 weeks to get an appointment, then it will only be a consultation, even if you have a referral for exactly what you need done. After the consultation it will take another 5-6 weeks for an appointment. There's a good chance they are going to cancel on you as well (as they did me). Instead of doing the right thing, and trying to fit you in as soon as possible, you just go to the back of the line in priority and have to wait another 5-6 weeks for an appointment. Here's the kicker, during this entire process, prepare to be shown absolutely ZERO empathy from the person on the other end of the line. Take it one further, not only no empathy but they are blatantly rude to you. It's a shame that these people have either never been in a situation where their health depends on receiving proper care, or they have already forgotten what it feels like to receive care urgently and be respected in the process. Here's a list of Neurologists in the East Valley that all have better reviews than this place.
