Took Deacon to Gilbert Park to let him play. Very nice playground with lots of kids. He was able to run off some restless energy.

A lovely park located in Mount Dora which is situated right near the lighthouse and the water frontage of the lake. Lots of huge canopied trees for shade. Lakefront park housing a playground, picnic pavilions & BBQs, plus a shelter area, benches & trails.

Gilbert Park is one of Mount Dora's two original parks built in the 1920's. It was named after local land owner Earl Gilbert who donated the prime land along the shore of Lake Dora. The park is located on a hill at the intersection of Tremain Street and Liberty Ave. In September of 2018 the existing aging and rotting play structures were demolished and the landscaping was enhanced. The new park playground had a grand reopening in January of 2019. The playground was designed to mesh with the natural beauty of the park while enhancing the ability of parents to keep track of their children. The new play structures include a pirate ship and play castle. Other park amenities include a restrooms, covered picnic pavilions, barbecue, benches, and a water fountain. Running through the park is Alexander Creek named for a former Mount Dora mayor. All of out playgrounds in South Florida have been closed since March. It was really strange to see kids enjoying a playground only three hours north of us. I can't wait until all of the children of Florida are able to fully enjoy the parks again.

Took a trip up here to cross another one of the Florida lighthouses off of our quest. This lighthouse (Dora) is located on Grantham Pointe. It is the only inland lighthouse of the 26 Florida lighthouses. There are actually 3 parks (Gilbert Park, Grantham Pointe and Palm Island Park) located in the area. Palm Island provides the most activity. There is a very long boardwalk to walk along. We saw many birds and even were lucky enough to see a large gator.

Really great park with stuff for all ages!! Don't miss a little walk along the canal when the playground gets too populated.

Gilbert Park is located in Mount Dora. This park has a playground, restrooms, water fountain, picnic tables , grills, benches and two pavilions. The playground was recently remodeled and now is castle themed. It accommodates all age groups and wheelchairs. The equipment is well maintained and kept very clean. The park is shaded in areas and completely fenced in. You can see the water and the lighthouse from the park.

I love this park. It's located in beautiful Mt.Dora and not far from the water. The playground is amazing. It features a huge wooden structure to round around and get lost in. It also offers a second play area with lots of slides, balance steps, drums and other items to explore. There are multiple swings for different ages and my favorite one, when the kids where little, was the baby/adult swing combo. So much fun. It's so worth coming here with the kids or just to take a walk by the water, by the lighthouse.

If you're already in historic downtown Mt. Dora, it's not far & worth the view. We enjoyed a beautiful stroll with a variety & abundance of birds. There was a giant chair, gator monument, & lighthouse for photo ops. Looks like a fun place for summer with jet skis & tubing. It not big, but worth the visit.

Gilbert Park is a nicely landscaped park just south of the shopping district of Mount Dora. On a nice day it would be a pleasant walk from downtown, but this summer afternoon it was way too hot! The playground is really cool; it is one of those massive wooden structures with lots of nooks and crannies for kids to explore. They have one side for bigger kids and another for the smaller ones. I really appreciate the fact that they left huge oak trees for shade. The rest of the park features pavilions, restrooms, open grassy areas and a nice, although short, nature walk along a tiny stream. The park gently slopes down to the shore of Lake Dora. There is a boat ramp, marina and small lighthouse to check out by the water. This park is a focal point for many of the cities festivals and fairs, much like Donnelly Park to the North.

Really cool mix of the of school wooden playgrounds that you are seeing less and less of. A smaller version of some of the others that I've visited. Lots of great climbing and hiding spots. Not many slides. 3 regular swings and one parent/baby swing. A huge area for small children. 3 toddler swings. Several pavilions with picnic tables and a couple open air picnic tables. Lots of benches. A cute walk down to the waters edge. I'll have to visit again when I have more time.

The family and I decided to try something new today and venture a little further away from home. We went on a park hopping tour in Lake County. We visited two very cool parks and I earned two shiny new Yelp badges in the process. I would say it was a good day. This park really catches your eye with the large castle-like peaks on top of the playgrounds. The large one is made of wood and the smaller one in the back is made of recycled milk jugs. Over 73,000 if I'm not mistaken. I thought that was cool. I've only seen benches made from milk jugs. To see a whole playground was cool. There are A LOT of kid interactive areas in this park. Also a lot of hiding spots. This park wasn't as shady as the first park we visited, but the weather was bearable. The real testament to the five star review is that we had to drag the kids out of this park in order to leave. If you have little kids, this park should be on your list.

    Awesome playground!

The park was created in 1926 when Sadie Conner Trimble who was the first postmistress of Lake Jem and her husband R.J. Trimble donated 71 acres to create Trimble Park. In October 1978, Orange County purchased another 31.5 acres from a failed development and used it to create the campground area. The main feature of the park is the picnic grove and playground at the end of the road. My favorite part of Trimble Park however was the hiking area where there is a 1.3 mile loop trail suitable for all ages and hiking abilities. The trail takes you around the perimeter of the triangular shaped park and down to Lake Beauclair where ancient oaks ring the lake. Over the trail are mature wild citrus trees which produce fruit and blooms throughout the year. Birds you might encounter include osprey, ibis, red-winged blackbirds, and herons. Trimble Park also has a 15 site campground for groups, trailers. and single tents that is set around a small cove along Lake Carlton. Here you will also find fishing decks and a launch for paddlers. It is easy to see why this park is a favorite outdoor recreational destination for families, campers, and nature enthusiasts. Whether you're looking to camp, hike, fish, or simply relax, this park provides a welcome and peaceful retreat in Central Florida.

It looks like it could use a little sprucing up by the city, however. The pool area is run down and often has chairs haphazardly laying around and the bathrooms can be downright gross. There is no shade around the pool except for one flimsy pop-up shelter that was destroyed in a storm and not replaced. The hot tub is nasty looking and has never been open as long as we've been coming. The pool itself often had a lot of debris in it and would use an overhaul as well. With all the growing Mount Dora is doing it would be nice to see them step it up and take care of their parks a little more. This park has a lot of potential but unfortunately it just isn't there yet.
