Tech did a 15 cursory exam of our plumbing, finding nothing amiss. What he did was provide 3 estimate: 1) tankless water heater replacement, $13,564, 2) isolation valve for tankless, $1,218 3) water service riser + PRV, $2,259. It seems the focus of this "exam" was to generate expensive repair estimates totaling almost $20,000 I suppose this was helpful but a bit shocking...I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the house call, although I'm paying $18.50 monthly to be a "valued" customer. read more

June 5, 2026, was 98 degrees in Sacramento. My Trane 16-Sehr air conditioner would not engage from the thermostat. I called Gilmore Heating and Air to diagnose the problem, knowing that, as a preferred customer, a $79 service fee would apply, and agreed. An appointment was scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2026, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to diagnose the problem. The Gilmore technician arrived at 4 pm to diagnose the problem. When he finished the diagnosis, he told me he would speak with me in a moment and went inside his repair vehicle to prepare the quote. After 20 minutes, he informed me that my variable blower motor failed. The estimate to repair it is $3,068, with an additional $421 for cleaning the blower unit. It would take at least a week to complete the repair if I accepted. I responded that I would seek other quotes and paid the $79 service fee. I contacted the vendor that installed my Trane 16-Sehr HVAC in 2019 after concluding the service call with Gilmore. He told me he would pick up the part and install it on June 9, 2026, for a far more reasonable price (labor and part) than the $3,068 Gilmore had quoted. Today is June 9, 2026. The vendor installed the variable blower motor within 1 hour, and my air conditioner is working. Based on my experience, I no longer desire to do business with Gilmore Heating and Air. read more

UPDATE 11/9/25 - Found the 3rd GAS LEAK. Leaking from same place as second gas leak through pipe caulking. I regret the entire customer experience (a long one). I should have never purchased a new HVAC system from Gilmore. A regrettable mistake on my part. A complete clusterfutz from day one. Now stuck with them for the 12 year warranty. They failed the state inspection (they should have known better in my opinion - (common sense and safety issue). I personally found not one but two gas leaks after they installed the unit (I still think about how that could have exploded in the night when I was asleep). Dropped the condenser day one trying to move it, sent wrong condenser in the first place (tried to hide that from me). Still banged the new condenser against the curb pulling it up onto driveway. Where do they find these people? I received conflicting information on repairs, installation, as well as the every 6 month maintenance program. They installed wrong soft start and it broke ...the list could go on. I found if I ask a different technician, I get a different answer. I have absolutely no security in this HVAC system or Gilmore. I'm still expecting the unit to burn my house down. I have two smoke detector's over and near air handler. Still gets hotter than I believe it should. Met two very qualified persons, the rest I wouldn't trust to set a thermostat. I can't, won't and don't recommend. read more

He was just doing a sales pitch for the entire time. He was overly friendly but definitely with clear motives. I didn't feel comfortable at all. We ended up going with another contractor with 30+ yrs of experience and it was a totally different experience. I felt a level of confidence and comfort, Gilmore definitely doesn't have. From my initial 5 star review from years ago, Gilmore's customer service has been on a slide. I am on their service plan, with a monthly fee. This includes an A/C service early in the year, and then furnace service later in the year. Once they FINALLY get here, the technicians are always wonderful and helpful. Appointments are scheduled to fall within a 4 hour window. They call the day before, to confirm. The PROBLEM is that 75% of the time, during that agreed upon window, you'll get another call saying that there has been a "service emergancy" that came up, so they need to reschedule. I do not exagerate. They have done this to me three out of the last 4 times. I get that there are emergencies from time to time, but I just cannot keep buying that story. Judging from their undeniably steady decline in customer "star ratings", my advice is that they examine their practices. read more

A simple sink plug, My son tried to get it with this auger in a couple of places, but because of recent surgery, he wasn't able to push it all the way thru. Well, my son and I sent him packing along with his wrench, He came back about 10 minutes later and said he would knock $100.00 off. We again told him, "I don't think so" This time he left his wrench. My son went out and tried again, this time he pushed a little harder and the plug came undone. PS. Your wrench is out in the flower box in the front yard, if you want it. But We don't want it growing little ones, so it won't stay there forever. This is the 2nd time a run-in with Gilmore. There will not be a 3rd. OH double PS. When I asked Emerald about the low levels of refrigerant, he blamed it on bad O Rings for his digital gauges? WOW! How many other misreadings does this guy do a day? I really hate writing this review. I called this company to fix the air conditioner at my rental property. The technician was wonderful; he had to order parts but got the air working temporarily until the parts arrived. I paid about $2,000 for the repair. When the parts came in, they fixed the issue. About a week later, my tenants called me because there was a large leak coming from the attic where the air conditioner is located. While fixing the unit, the technician moved the condensation tray or pipe, causing all the water to go directly down my walls. After a week, my tenants noticed it when they stepped on a soaked carpet. On further inspection, we found damage to the entire ceiling and down the wall to the first floor. My tenants turned off the air conditioner, and I called Gilmore, but they were two weeks out in over 100-degree weather. So, I called Bonnie, who came out within a day. Bonnie discovered what had happened and informed me. I have contacted Gilmore several times, received a few responses, but then I was ghosted. I emailed them again today and am waiting to see if they respond. The technician was great but made a bad mistake, and now I can't get the company to come and fix the damage they caused. I am very disappointed as whomever is in charge of this is not only letting me down but also their technician and their company. Their installers were fast and cleaned up the work site very well. They also did a good job of explaining how to operate the system. My low rating is based entirely on their total lack of response to an emergency about half hour later: a burst water pipe was flooding my back yard. I texted them and phoned, but only reached a virtual assistant with my urgent message. Not until 7:35 am the next morning did they text me to say a member of their dispatch team would contact me shortly. I told them I had found someone else to help me. Well, I wanted to know what they charge per hour so I could estimate what the total cost would be. The refused to answer the question. I offered to take photos and send information, they refused. It just needed to be tightened. 1600 for a shower floor leaking. A pad needs replaced. They did nothing but shove the pipe back into a brass fitting. 1600 for 30 mins. He looked at the heater. It was working but he said he thought we needed a new motherboard for the heater $1900. We were suspect. The heater worked but the next day it wasn't working. We decided to call another repair person. He said there was clearly a wire/plug that was undone and pushed to the side. It cost me $100 to have fixed. Workibgvgreat since. This week when our less than 5 year old AC broke they couldn't get out to see us for more than 5 days. I bought a new hvac unit from them in 2022 and they have had to come out to fix something on it every year since I've purchased it in 2022. Within the first year of purchase they had to come out because they had installed the condensate lines incorrectly, it took them 3 different technicians to get it right. They had installed it so you could not remove the filter. Next, in 2023, the control board went out on the heat pump condenser in the winter so we were without heat. Fast forward to 2025 and the HVAC unit doesn't produce cold air and it's a 100° weekend. They sent a service technician out that was knownledgeable but was unable to fix or even diagnose the issue since the he was not a senior technician and did not have access to the refrigerant leak detection tool. He did tell me that the potential fix for the part that failed would be over $900 even though I have a 10/12 year warranty on parts. The $900 charge is odd being that our technicIan told us the problem was clearly caused by a faulty part which we have a warranty on? I am fine paying for labor but as someone who is a former automotive tech the AC Filter Drier is a cheap part and does not require more than someone knowing how to solder the new line on, it's not a $900 job. If the faulty part they installed caused the issue it seems that other than the service call fee I already paid would cover the labor and I shouldn't be charged anything else. I have been told to call a variety of people with no one returning my call. I paid 17,000 for a product that works worse than the 30 year old unit I had and breaks down even more often. They quickly took my money but are not in a hurry to fix anything. *** Ryan the service manager did return the call and warrantied the refrigerate drier. They were about 1 week booked out but that happened to be ok for us. Their technician was very informative and let me know that since I had not renewed the yearly maintenance that if another part broke even if the parts are covered under warrant the service obviously is not and would cost 1-4,000 in labor. So the moral of the story is their parts warranty is useless if you don't keep renewing their service agreement. It's kinda shady. UPDATE ON ORIGINAL REVIEW The new tech with a differnt HVAC company pointed out that GILMORE INSTALLED WRONG the low voltage wire. It is simply pinned underneath the lower fascia and exposed, even wrapped around hoses on the unit to take up excess wire. I now have to pay to have this Relocated because it's a potential FIRE HAZZARD if a rodent gets ahold of it or it otherwise cracks/breaks in the sun. start to finish, this company has missrepresemted themselves every step of the way. My father-in-law is an 87 year old retired veteran. He called Gilmore, a company he has trusted with heating and AC inspection for years, about a issue with his toilet not filling. The positive: the workers are usually really nice, knowledgeable and professional. That's about it. Problem 1: When we had them replace our hvac, the workers were unable to finish the job in one day. They said more parts were needed/it was more complicated. They ordered what they needed and scheduled a guy to come finish it another day. When that guy came, he said the work didn't need to be done. I said I still wanted it done and he proceeded to argue with me. I called them, they sent out a manager, the manager determined the guy didn't do the work and the work needed to be done. They sent out another guy. I am happy with how it was handled but disappointed it took so many steps. This was a few years ago though and service isn't all that good anymore. Problem 2: When they do the bi-yearly visits included from buying the new system, they always try to upsell. It is annoying. I had a "free" plumbing walk through. I thought that would be nice since it's an older house. I had mixed feelings. They found things I decided to have improved but not sure if I really needed all of it. When I tried to contact them with a follow up question they ghosted me- and I replied to their email asking me first! Not sure if I even needed the hvac replacement to be honest! Whenever any of these companies tell you that always get another opinion. Better yet- get a home warranty and go through them! No upselling anymore with that route. Problem 3: For the furnace tune up they canceled the appointment 3x. I have heard this industry has a shortage of workers. It is concerning to me that despite paying for a premium HVAC maintenance service called the "Gilmore Emperor Service" where twice a year your equipment is serviced for winter and summer plus discounts, but ask yourself is it really done ... just look at the condenser this is a 25 seer tower why does it looks like this .. the HVAC system has not been cleaned in years..... but we've been paying for years for a service that's clearly has not been performed .... it's concerning to me the Gilmore tech that came out to service our Lennox last April stated everything was great .. I shouldn't have this expectation that I need to go behind someone by taking theTower side panels off to inspect for a service that I'm paying for, obviously he did a subpar rushed summer maintenance on my system in 2023 and in 2022. The presence and amount of dog hair and filth in the condenser indicates a lack of proper maintenance by this Gilmore service tech for more than one season, which raises questions about the quality and thoroughness of the services we paid for during the last 6 years .. Moving forward it's worth exploring alternative providers who can offer more reliable and thorough services ensuring that all components are properly maintained and cleaned as per the terms of your contract agreement with your HVAC service provider .... That's why I switched in December of 2023 to "Service Champions". . . They know how to make you smile. read more

Watch these guys close. The tech recently performed the service fine ($59), then suggested about $2,400 of work that needed to be done on our 15 year-old system. I called a small, local company and asked for a second opinion. One of the items Gilmore said I needed I already have ($328). Two more I don't need for the system I have ($1,638). Plus, the second opinion found a capacitor that was failing, which Gilmore did not identify. I had that replaced and the one item that Gilmore suggested, that was actually beneficial, for $488. Also, several years ago I was on Gilmore's maintenance plan, which included two annual services and priority appointments, plus a slight savings on parts and labor. My furnace has a large air filter, which they changed with each service and charged me like $125 per filter. I discovered I could get the same exact filter for about $20 at my retail cost. The past year and a half they have been canceling and rescheduling our appointments at the last minute.
