Nick…read morehas an Agronomy and a Botany degree and is well versed on lawn care, plants, soils, and trees. His lawn cuts are very professional, with care given to trim, mulching, dry conditions, bare patches, lawn and insect invaders and aeration. The community knows him well and often stops to talk and ask advice and share a cold drink. Nick also besides lawn work installed a wooden fence along our northern border. He cleared the brush, removed regular and poison ivy beforehand. In two days they installed posts and planks. Later they reseeded the area and placed box shrubs along the front. All for a very reasonable price. Property values for the adjoining units appreciated substantially as a result. Nick also was engaged by the Board to repair some Stairs that had fallen into neglect. He remediated the old stairs and found broken concrete, a large hole and rust on the metal railing. Nick hand cut layered break for a week in the August sun and Hand laid each brick with cement. He worked with the homeowners using the stairs so they always had access. He also obtained approval for the color and type of break. And he sealed them just in time for winter cold. They are beautiful. And the Board also engaged Nick to plow the snow at the association. Last 2017/18 winter had lots of snow and frequently. Nicks crew including some towns his father in law never arrived later than 7am and plowed us Long before anyone left for work. I later found that Nick often worked from midnight to noon on those snow days. The Board also asked Nick to propose two concrete aprons. The price was very reasonable but we ran out of funds. Lastly the association experienced a sub basement water leak (when it rained) whose source couldn't be determined. Nick crawled the 3 ft high sub basement area and located the source of the water leak as coming from the corner concrete blocks. He then went outside and dug a four by four by four hole along the concrete wall. The wall had been breached. Nick and John remediated the wall and put a water proof sheathing over it. All this was done in less than 48 hours before the next heavy rain. Without Nick and John the cause and solution might not have ever been properly determined. As you can see Nick and his staff at Caines are professional, responsive and reliable and are reasonably priced, including the cost of the water leak (some basement companies had quoted 12 to 20k; Nick was much less). As former treasurer and board member I recommend Caines and Associates very highly.

The work is sloppy, with grass blown week after week into flower beds even after requests have been made to be careful. The lawn tractor is repeatedly driven over plantings in beds adjacent to driveways. Requests to lower blade height to leave the grass at a reasonable level after cutting are ignored. Over a year ago this company was contracted to perform repair and tiling of steps in the subdivision as the owner claimed experience. Substandard materials were used (vertical wall tiles used rather than tile for foot traffic as should have been used) and the owner has to date not repaired the tiles which have broken in the course of regular foot traffic (which continue to multiply). Cannot recommend enough to stay away from this contractor.

He does sod installation, grading, seeding and all aspects of lawn call. I initiailly called him about sod installation but he explained that sode would not do well in my HEAVILY SHADED lawn. He recommended adding topsoil with some peat/compost and then seeding the lawn and covering with straw/ He showed up ON-TIME with a crew of 3 (plus himself) and knocked the project out in under 2 hours. Very professional, knowedgeable and easy to work with. I would highly recommend John to anyone needing lawn work.

I took it down and he immediately BLOCKED me and never refunded me. Wow. I would beware of this shady shady human for any service. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!! We hired them to simply install Goove pro lights in November of 2025...as of March 2026 we still do not have working lights. After our initial conversation, Nick demanded a deposit (after a story about how he has been scammed before). On November 18 a deposit was paid and we waited. He would reach out every so often about jobs he just completed, and saying "you're almost up"., this went on for over a month. After many booked times (which we rearranged schedules for) of him not showing up - he finally came two days before Christmas and finally "finished" the job on Christmas Eve as we tried to host family for the holiday. I will give him props for working through extreme cold, lack of day light, and everything else to get them done...but that's where the positives ended. The final invoice came in about 800 dollars over what he quoted, he gave us less than a week to pay before he started messaging two - three times a day asking when it would be paid even though the invoice had a due date a month away, and kept it up till it was paid. This shift from nice business man - to shake down for money - was such an uncomfortable change as a client. And again - I wish that is where it stopped. The lights worked and looked great...for all of 3 weeks. January 16 they went dark...I reached out (cause we bought a "warranty") and reached out....and reached out.... Each time I had to explain the problem, each time I got the run around of issues in his life as why he couldn't come fix it, each time the hope our lights would be fixed dwindled. He would not tell me what the warranty covered, refused to refund any money, and clearly made no moves to schedule a time. And now we sit in March, 5 months after the first conversation with broken lights. With my husband blocked from his Facebook page. With a 20 page Word document of conversations. And still NO LIGHTS! So I say again .... DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!
