Nice hidden trail next to the hotel that leads to the local riding stables (as well as a great place to walk my hounds). Room was clean and well appointed. Dogs were supposed to cost ten euro each, but they either forgot, or didn't charge us. #timlife #yelp Enjoy.

After our first night we noticed something leaking near the bathroom. We never determined where it was coming from, but we were moved to a new room. The rooms are clean & decent but the pillows are AWFUL!! A good price if you're looking for a no-frills, reasonably priced hotel. Just bring a pillow!

This place is also in the middle of no where - no restaurants to walk to and the nearest grocery store is a 20-25 minute walk away. Also beware of the food reviews of the restaurant within walking distance. Its listed as 4 yelp stars - but it is in the front of the supermarket - like how there are fast-food restaurants inside Wal-Mart or Target. However, the accommodations are nice and clean and the staff is friendly. But since we did a "picnic hotel dinner" with meat, cheese, bread,and patê from the store - it was almost impossible to get a glass of ice for our beverages. The server in the hotel bar looked and acted seriously annoyed by my request. What was I supposed to do? They don't have ice machines!! That was the only negative experience here. Bonus: shuttle to airport is €9 per person and a cab ride is €30 per the front desk. So if you're thinking of staying here to be closer to the airport - think again!!! I think next time (if there is one) I'd prefer to stay in the downtown area to be walking distance from restaurants and sights rather than out here in BFE.

I went to the Mercure Dusseldorf Airport to check-in for my reservation after pre-paying for four…read morenights in advance almost three weeks ago. The front desk person said that I was late to check-in and that they had given away my room and were completely booked. Not only would I be out of luck for this first night, but for the remaining three nights as well. She said that I would not be getting a refund, but she offered to give me the address of a close hotel that "was not as nice" but they had "decent rates". She expected me to pay for another room at their partner hotel. I'm blown away at the piss poor customer service, the arrogance of the front desk, and the beyond poor experience with Mercure Hotels. I will take the necessary action and have contacted Mercure Corporate, Hotels.com, American Express and I will get my money back. What really gets me mad is that I was forced to re-book something else literally last minute, and with some conference in town rates were astronomical. I overpaid for a new room thanks to the "wonderful" Mercure Dusseldorf Airport. They were happy to take my money, but still didn't want to give me a room. BEWARE and WATCH OUT. They have caused undue stress and duress as I had to pay for a cab and find a I will NEVER book or stay at a Mercure again.

So no AirPlay. Was a disappointment for the entertainment perspective. Our first room was definitely not bad until someone started smoking in the building which came directly into our room through the central air system which meant we could not use it because of the strong smell. Given that it was rather warm this was quite annoying. The second night became more annoying when we got the strong smell of weed in our room. Same situation; no air conditioning; terrible smell. We addressed the issue with the front desk in the morning and were happy they could provide another room. Our options were: Room 1: 2nd floor-hallway smelled of weed as if it were the source, the room was clean but had a broken night table and broken bed light as well as missing ceiling tile. Room 2: 3rd floor- almost exactly the same as room 1 as mentioned above except it had the ceiling intact. Room 3 and our choice of these options: 2nd floor (one door down from option 1 as mentioned above). No foreseeable issues except a light (1 of 2) in the bathroom not working and now electric outlet in the bathroom and the shower basin leaks onto the bathroom floor. (Just needs extra towels) Overall the we were satisfied with the room and cleanliness of it. The location couldn't be better. Food, shopping and transportation at our fingertips. Only reason they don't earn more stars is how they handled the smell issue. Because we brought it to the attention of the management and he confirmed it is a smoke free building and when we told him he could go now up to the 2nd floor to smell it for himself (which he did) we expected it to be resolved when we returned that evening. It wasn't. Nothing changed. It was not only in the entire hallway but also the elevator and lobby. Very disappointed that this happened. Otherwise was a great experience
