We stopped in the morning of the Women's Rights March. Coffee was great, atmosphere was fun, barista was awesome. The only thing we didn't love was that a fellow patron brought her adorable, but very yappy, dog inside and let the dog bark pretty much non-stop for about thirty minutes. The acoustics aren't great for that. If we had been trying to actively discuss, this would have been a deal breaker for us. Fortunately, we were tidying up emails with our coffees so could handle the noise. read more

Ginger Beard is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Tampa. The owners are so personable and have even memorized our orders down to what type of milk we each get. It's very dog friendly and you can bring your dog inside or enjoy your drink with your dog outside. I've tried many, many Chai Lattes across the United States and Ginger Beard has the best one by far. I wandered into GB after moving into the area, and oh my was I pleasantly surprise. The two gentlemen behind the bar did an excellent job creating a warm, friendly environment. Their beards absolutely live up to the reputation, however it's the coffee that steals the show. I had the Cubano nitro brew. Deep rich and creamy, it was satisfying to the last drop. On a side note, they also had a billiards table. The tall bar tender saw me playing and decided to play a game. He brews coffee better than he shoots pool. read more

Had this spot on my list for a while and honestly only because I knew I could bring my dog. Stopped by on a Monday morning to grab a cup of coffee and sit and enjoy the day. When we came inside we were greeted by Josh one of the owners. He made me a delicious espresso and also gave me a sample of their peanut butter cold brew, which was amazingly delicious. my espresso was made perfectly and was also reasonably priced. they serve coffee and beer and also have free WiFi. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is street parking and also parking garage nearby. They allow pets inside as well. That whole area is pet friendly with water bowls available for your fuzzy friend and they also offer doggie treats. Probably one of my favorite coffee houses in Tampa, highly recommend. read more

Ok here goes... While I can certainly appreciate and respect the other folks who seem head over heals with this place, I for one am not a fan. First, I am a self proclaimed coffee snob. In that, I do not like cold coffee drinks, cold coffee, flavored coffee- you get the picture. Give me a good cup of flavorful, robust, kick in the pants coffee. I do enjoy latte's, cappuccinos and espresso. But cold-coffee-anything, nah! Not for me. While they also serve hot coffee too, my palate simply doesn't appreciate acidic coffee and their coffee is strongly acidic and weak. I was also surprised to find that they don't serve cream...milk-yes, almond milk- yes (blech) but no cream???? Oh well, I suppose we can't have it all. I will say this though in all fairness, the guys are very friendly so the customer service is great, I am just not into the product at all. Why 5 stars? Because I have a new favorite coffee shop in Tampa Bay. --- --- --- After only one visit, it's official - this is my favorite coffee shop in the Bay Area. Let us list the reasons for this this high praise: 1) I love nitro cold coffee. They have 4 taps, which is by far, the most I've ever seen at once place. 2) They also serve your more standard Joe fare, if you're a crazy person that dislikes the nitro cold brew. 3) They sell 16 oz growlers of their nitro coffee, which is an ideal size for such a lovely substance. 32 oz growlers are generally going to be overkill, as the coffee can definitely lose its freshness rather quickly. Unless your large growler is to be shared with multiple people, it's going to be tough to consume all of it at its highest quality. If you do consume 32 ounces of this in one sitting, you'll likely be tweaked out enough to either solve Einstein's Theory of Relativity or be arrested. It's not safe!! But long story short, 16 oz = no stale coffee and no arrest record. Everybody wins. 4) There are doughnuts. Delicious, wonderful doughnuts. 5) The owners are great. They both have gigantic ginger beards, hence the namesake, and are not hard to miss. 6) There's something cathartic about being in a bar at 9am, completely uninhibited. (GBC is inside of the Pour House.) 7) I live to support small, local businesses - and this is as small and as local as they come. It's just a couple of guys with corporate jobs who are trying to make it on their own. The good news for all of us: they are masters of their craft. If you haven't tried nitro coffee before, it's basically like a Guinness, but coffee. It's best when fresh off the tap with all of the foamy goodness. The Cubano was the smoothest and milkiest of the four flavors they had during my visit. Unless your palate requires 10 lbs of cream and sugar in your coffee, the fresh nitro pour needs no additives. *Game Changer Alert* Let me just tell you that my coffee perception has been flipped upside down, rolled around, cold brewed, and nitrogen-tapped into a stout glass. I was minding my own business on a Tuesday morning, and I happened across a TB Business Journal article about Ginger Beard Coffee. I became very interested, due to the fact that when I let my face mane grow, it is of the ginger variety. I also happen to enjoy a very well crafted cup of coffee. We were off to a good start before I even read about the Joe. If you keep up with coffee, you already know there are a thousand different ways to extract the essence of a roasted coffee bean into a good cup of liquid energy. What a lot of folks DON'T do is create a unique twist on the delivery. This is where Ginger Beard Coffee stands out, and they do so with around a combined three feet of face forest, holding superior glasses of coffee. So I am new to the concept of Nitro Coffee, and maybe it's been around forever. I don't know. But what I DO know is that there is no such thing as a smoother cup of cold-brewed coffee. If you don't know about Nitro Coffee, I'll do my best to share with you my newly acquired knowledge of it: You take brewed coffee, keg it, pressurize said keg with nitrogen, and put it on a tap also pressurized with nitrogen, and you pour it into a glass. If you've ever witnessed a perfect pour of Guinness, you already know what Nitro Coffee looks like. Now for the actual taste of the coffee--- Wow. Seriously. I only drink coffee black (unless I'm at WaHo/Denny's/IHOP/etc., when their coffee truly is brown sludge, and only then will I put sugar in it). I don't like cold coffee, because the taste imperfections hidden by temperature often unmask themselves when the temp is lowered. Cold brew (even at Starbuck's and the like) lack flavor character, and just doesn't appeal to my palate. HOWEVER, Nitro Coffee is now the only way I'll have cold coffee. It's smoother than I'm able to describe. Silky. There are no bitter notes. There is a thick head on the pour (crema, for you coffee snobs), but I choose the word head because it settles more like a pour of fresh stout than a shot of espresso. It smells heavenly, and is much more aromatic than any other plain cup of coffee. They also have a rewards program, so you can earn a free glass (or cup if you're in a hurry). Yes, that is a bar, and no, it has not closed. They are doing multi-use space a la Starbucks in big cities, and turning it into a super yummy coffee shop by day and still the bar we love at night. The crazy name for this place comes from the crazy guys who run it--Derek and Josh who, you guessed it, both have pretty epic ginger beards. They are awesome, always up for conversation, but it's really all about the coffee. The nitro is rich and creamy and better than any other iced coffee--and they are brewing up Buddy Brew wonderfulness to add to that cold heaven in a glass. Bonus: hot traditional drinks are on tap if that's what you're feeling. Plus, the atmosphere of the Pour House and their great outdoor seating at Grand Central? TOTAL WIN! Once you add in a great study area, cool hangout possibilities with a pool table (yes, it is true) and BEST OF ALL Dough Donuts (by Datz) you have such win. (And some healthy options, but whatever.) When it comes to coffee they are all about quality, so you will not find an inflated coffee menu with tons of fake flavors and syrups. I know I know, I am going against the 5 star grain average here. However, as much as I like this place, I do need to take a star for missing one critical piece of infrastructure required from a 5-star coffee shop. But first, I am looking at this place solely as a coffee shop. They are inside Pour House, so this is also a craft/micro brew joint, but I am not drinking beer today and nor do I know anything about nitro infused beer or coffee. This place is very cool. Pool table and dart board, but I am just getting that out of the way. Wide open venue with comfortable tables and chairs, and some couches and lounging furniture, too. The owners are Josh and someone - I only met Josh - and he was fantastic. Very informative in talking about the place and his coffees. The Ethiopian brew I got was delicious - $3 for a bottomless drip cup. Wifi is free, and there is a nice courtyard outside in between the condos/office/apartment buildings (I didn't look up, so I am not sure what is above me) where this is located at street level. Background music is lots of Motown and easy listening and perfect to relax to. Also, the place is dog friendly, so bonus points there, and so far, this is a 5 star joint. The problem is, and the reason I am taking a star off for their coffee-shop related things, is that there are literally only about 3 outlets in the place. One in a corner, one against a wall and one more somewhere in the back. Presumably, if you're sitting at the bar, they would plug you in behind the bar, but I am not sure about that. This morning, it wasn't an issue since there were only a couple of us here, but I can imagine that as the residential buildings continue to explode in this area, more and more people will come to this fantastic place to work, and the lack of places to plug in will be a problem. However, if you don't need an electrical charge, then you should definitely come here, whether to work, read, chill out, get caffeinated, or get drunk (the author of this review is in no way advocating irresponsible drinking but this is Florida and you all be crazy - please drink responsibly). I recently moved to the Tampa Bay Area from Seattle, and I was missing my little quirky coffee shops...until I went to Ginger Beard. Deuces west coast! My fiancé and I were warmly greeted by the owners, Josh and Derek, who both have the namesake's glorious ginger beards. They both couldn't be more friendly and were knowledgeable and helpful. They let me try a sample of the seasonal nitro brew, and I ended up with a flight of all four nitro flavors. I really enjoyed all four and it was nice to have coffee without having to add any cream or sugar. The Sidama was dry hopped and similar to an IPA which was awesome. I ended up buying a 16 oz. growler with the Ginger Beard logo on it and had it filled with the Brazil, which was my favorite and in my opinion the smoothest. The growler, including fill was $10 and each refill will be $6. Even though I live all the way in St Pete, I'll be back many many times for my growler fills. Well done Ginger Beard! read more

Never fear, from 6 AM to 2 PM on weekdays, and 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays, Ginger Beard is nothing but a delicious, community-oriented coffee shop in Channelside, equipped with wi-fi, relaxing music, and plenty of outdoor seating. But let's face it--what is a coffee shop without good coffee? Ginger Beard offers a few varieties of DELICIOUS Nitro Brew Iced Coffee on tap. They also sell it in 16 ounce Growlers, so you can take it home to enjoy at a later time. And, if you bring the Growler back for a refill, they'll offer you a reduced "refill" price. Ginger Beard also serves hot drinks, like my FAVORITE almond milk cappuccino. In my opinion, Ginger Beard stands out from other local coffee shops because GB serves a 12-oz cappuccino (many places serve TINY 6-oz drinks...and I end up wanting more than one!), and the price is extremely reasonable, around $4. At other local coffee shops, I might pay $5 for a 6-ounce drink...at Ginger Beard, I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off, and that feels GREAT! And of course, every sip is like heaven! :) Ginger Beard's primary focus is coffee--although they do have a few light bites, like oatmeal, Paleo granola, and fresh donuts, as well. Have a cup of their creamy nitro cold brew coffee and you'll walk away wide-eyed, wanting more. Ginger Beard operates within Channelside's Pour House. Inside it's bar meets coffee counter meets lounge. Whether you're there to work, study or hang out, there is a seating option for everyone: a long bar counter, high tops, low tops and a few armchairs. Inside these walls it's Ginger coffee by day (6am-2pm on weekdays; 8am-2pm on Saturdays) and bar by afternoon (hours vary). For the best of both worlds, come on Saturday from 1-2pm. To order, look for the large cardboard cutout of a man with a long read beard. He's next to a cash register and tap spouts. On tap, in addition to kombucha, are four varieties of pour. All but one are incredibly caffeinated. One of the owners tells me that a cup of their cold brew nitro packs the punch of about 3-4 cups of regular coffee. The exception is the peanut butter nitro, an amber-colored brew that tastes true to its name and has about the same amount of caffeine as one cup. If you're horribly indecisive like I am, they will gladly pour you a blend, or you can try a flight (four four-ounce pours) for $6.50. Or, if cold brew isn't your thing, try the regular brew. $3 buys you a bottomless cup. I'm not one to drink coffee black, but the flavor is so vibrant and the texture is so smooth that my usual side of cream was wholly unnecessary. Instead I enjoyed my coffee with a creme brulee doughnut, made fresh and brought in daily from nearby Datz Dough. The mammoth square poof of glazed glory is filled with cream in each corner and sprinkled with some kind of brown sugar. I don't care how worried you are about counting calories, you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't try one of these donuts. And, Ginger Beard loves dogs! I enjoyed my coffee at the counter with the company of my little wookie. While I was there another guy came in with his two dogs, no problem. They even have dog treats. If you don't have a pup to share your coffee with but find yourself wanting, come here on a Saturday for one of their adoption events. Whether you're a first timer like me or a regular like the guy sitting next to me, the owners Josh and Derek are so friendly. There is no foo-foo hipster pretension. Note: The coffee shop is located inside the Pourhouse. I walked around the courtyard a few times staring at my iPhone trying to find it. Incredible nitro cold brew coffee though. Josh pointed out that it's their signature drink and has the caffeine equivalent of 3 regular cups of coffee+. The quality of the cold brew is excellent, smooth, dark flavor, no acidity, no syrups to mask over or under-ripened beans or cheap blends etc. "Quality" is the only adjective I can think of. I really like this place, conveniently located on the channelside residential area they share a small section in the corner with the pour house. Beer and coffee is a perfect combo to me. Owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. This is a cool hang out spot to drink your coffee after a workout at the nearby gym. The coffee is very yummy and very reasonable in price. Okay so my wife found this place this morning and decided to go and try it out. Her search was for donuts originally [come to find out they don't make there donuts in house]. Location name is underneath another name [outside banner says pour house] which they relocated from original place on Kennedy [They should put up a sign to let consumers know]. Due to the fact that old address pops up on every gps. So purpose of 4 stars is simple, atmosphere is awesome, which is everything left of pour house. The nitro coffee is cool, the donuts though outside made taste good, friendly owners with unique beards to keep the name going and overall it's worth a try. So if you ever in the area stop by and enjoy some nitro coffee. But for real coffee lovers this will not be in the top 5 but might make the 6 spot in the nitro taste. read more

The guys are super nice and are very helpful. They will let you sample different flavors of their coffees till you find the right one. The best part about this place is that they also have doughnuts and some amazing doughnuts at that! Aside from donuts they have some other selections, such as oatmeal. While hunting for a decent cup of coffee, we purposely set off for Ginger Beard's. It is VERY hard to find and is actually inside a building that says Pour House on the street-facing window. Look for the sandwich board on the sidewalk and the logo in the door... good luck. Once we found it, I asked the "bartender" for his recommendation. I told him I drink dark roast black coffee as my usual. He poured my nitro cold brew and we walked out side to drink it. It was fine. Definitely not a full-bodied coffee, more like a medium roast, but it tasted good. I suggest you study the menu and figure out what you want before you get there. read more
