Having had mixed experiences at their Manchester location, I decided to give Gino D'Acampo My Restaurant's Liverpool location a try, which is affiliated with celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo and run by Individual Restaurants.
On the corner of Church Street, a stone's throw away from Liverpool One, it is in a good yet slightly hidden location in Liverpool city centre next to Moose Coffee, the building does look good from the outside where you can even see the flag of Italy.
The interior also is pretty fashionable and similar to the Manchester location. The staff seemed friendly and sat me down quickly, as I had a reservation.
I went with the gluten-free carbonara, the dish overall was just OK, it was a little boring, parts of the pasta and meat were undercooked and the dish had a mixed temperature, some of the pasta was cold, yet others were piping hot, it felt like they made two dishes and just threw them together in a bowl.
The staff did seem friendly enough, but as always this doesn't warrant adding a service charge onto the bill, this is something I hate, I think people should be able to tip however they want, adding a service charge onto a table of one person ordering one main course wanting a quick lunch is ridiculous, it isn't like a group of people which I would sort of understand.
3* - I did see potential, the overall vibe of this place and the service was good, the pasta was mainly OK, the issues was mainly with the temperature and how part of the meat was cooked. Would I return? Maybe, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more
