Wow. Where should I begin? First of all, we've been coming to this location for both dine-in meals and takeout since it opened years ago (back when Charlestowne still had more than the ~6 open stores it's seemed to hover around for the last 7+ years--can't remember if the theater was even added onto the mall by that time, but that's only to give you an idea of how long we've been loyal customers). Anyway, I've personally had my own family birthday celebrations here as well, so this isn't a one-off hit piece on the place... Earlier this evening, my mother called in a pickup order which included 4 pizzas, 2 salads with dressing, and a side of anchovies. Probably about a $120 order that I had her use my credit card number for over the phone, so while not an outrageously large order for an establishment of this size and reputation, particularly based on previous experiences. My aunt lives in Saint Charles and we were meeting at my grandma's for a family dinner before my other aunt has to go back home to Colorado tomorrow, so had our St. Charles aunt drop by and pick up the order on the way over, reminding her to make sure, specifically, that the anchovies were included in the order as we'd requested and paid for. She arrived, the order was bagged (salad trays) and tagged (4 pizza boxes), and my aunt asked if the anchovies were somewhere in the order, which she was told they were in there. The place was not busy. This was well-before dinner rush, there were 5 staff members socializing up around the front counter, and there was no reason that someone couldn't have actually checked the order to make sure everything was there. My aunt wasn't about to opening things up on their front counter to search for them, so she took their word for it. My aunt got to my grandma's, we unpacked everything, and no anchovies were anywhere to be found. I phoned the location at 5:45 to inquire about the missing anchovies (basically not even worth it at that point because the pizza would have been cold anyway by the time we could go all the way out there to get them. Here is why the location has earned a 2-star rating: whoever was making the decisions, checking the orders, and managing the staff tonight must either have no experience with customer service or is just simply "penny wise but dollar foolish" to use an antiquated phrase. The manager did not come on the line when I called the first time (nor the second time, but that's later in this long story), and dictated to the person on the phone that "a delivery man would be bringing our anchovies to our house within 30 minutes". I tried to explain that the pizza would be cold by then and that people would want to start eating right when they arrived. I was about to suggest that they credit us $5 off the amount charged to my credit card, but the head honcho was certain that the anchovies would be there before we missed them (already not possible, but I digress). I asked who would be responsible for compensating the delivery driver--which apparently the guy on the phone literally didn't know what the word "compensate" meant, I'm not sure how that's possible, but it's true-- and the guy conferenced with the manager and came back with the response "yes." ... After asking him what "yes, what?" He just said "yes" again, and then it was clear that is person was either functionally illiterate, didn't know what the word "compensate" meant, or was under the influence of something, whether it was drugs or booze. For the record, the guy didn't *sound* drunk or stoned. Everyone arrived within the next 10 minutes and at that point the anchovies were a moot point. The doorbell rang 20 minutes after everyone had arrived and ate, and the managers had sent this unfortunate delivery driver to bring us the anchovies. I felt bad for the guy and tipped him $2 anyway because it wasn't his fault and because he's got to work for people who clearly don't know what they're doing. read more

I've been here countless times when I lived in the area, and now that I live in St. Louis, I miss it SO MUCH! I've had all kinds of pizza, and there is no pizza like deep dish Chicago-style pizza, and there is no deep dish like Giordano's! I'm sort of a picky eater so I usually just get sausage and peppers in mine but yum yum so tasty!! Takes a while to cook (45 minutes I think??) but SO worth it! My mom prefers thin crust pizza, so I've had this several times and it's very good as well! The last time I went here with my family, they were out of BOTH appetizers that we wanted to order (mozz sticks and cheesy bread). It was fairly early on in the evening, so that was a little disappointing but otherwise, service has always been great here! read more

Some colleagues and I decided to head to Giordano's during our national training and we all enjoyed the pizza. We had the meat and more meat, supreme, and I think pepperoni large pizzas. All were delicious. Their appetizers could've been better though as it was pretty small and consisted of nothing special. The service was 7/10. We didn't experience anything too bad from what I've seen the other Yelp users have posted. We'll be back next time we're in town. read more

Ordered their veggie pizza which was ok, but with the exception of black olives and artichoke most of the other veggies were cut so small that you could not tell what was on it and flavor suffered.Found no broccoli, which was one of the included veggies. Be wary of you have a gift card. There system was down so they were not able to take the gift certificate. So we drove 60 miles to use a gift certificate that we received for our anniversary. We ended up paying cash. In my opinion they were very chintzy in offering only $2.00 off for our trouble. Now if I want to use the gift certificate We have to drive back. We would not have gone that far in the first place, if we didn't have a gift certificate. The waiter was very good. Twice in a row we have waited for over 2 hours and have received ice cold pizza from the St. Charles location and this is after multiple times of receiving lukewarm pizza previously. Manager offered us a $5 off credit. We have been ordering from the S. Elgin location for years and never had a problem or complaint, luckily we can still get delivery from that location, because we will never order from this one again. Pizza is good when it's hot, but the service and management are terrible. read more

The place has lots of Personality too bad we couldn't rate it just on that when we arrive we made the waitress aware that we were on a tight schedule arriving at 3:30 we needed to be out of there by 4:30 we were the only people in the restaurant food still didn't come out at 4:15 for 18 food came out half of the party had to leave that alone they lose two stars there was no one in the restaurant. As for the Pizza it was average at best. The rest of the meals were a little above average at best . So in closing I would recommend another place I'm sure there are better. read more

Their deep dish almost cannot be beat - IMO Connie's has slightly better deep dish, & Charlie Foxe's is DEFINITELY better thin crust, but this place has been pretty close to the top end of the scale for years & years. WATCH OUT for the chopped salad though - HOLY BLUE CHEESE!! I would give ZERO stars if I could. I'm clearly a glutton for punishment as I routinely order from them and I am always disappointed. The food is actually okay for take out. The major problem is that the order is literally always incorrect - and I mean always. Usually they forget an item, forget to leave something off a salad, add something incorrect to a pizza or have the wrong side to a sandwich. The menu isn't complicated so it must be the lack of training or the lack of caring of the employees. read more

What's so good about this place? It's not horrible but it's not great either. It's just there and I don't ever crave their pizza nor do I pass up a slice if it's free either. I like stuffed pizza once in a while but it's not my first choice but don't get me wrong. I still gave it 3 stars and that's not horrible. Glad to say this location puts Bloomingdale to shame. Live 5 minutes from The take out only Bloomingdale restaurant. But will drive the extra 10-20 minutes up Route64/North ave to get a perfectly cooked stuffed pie with all the proper ingredients. When I order sausage I want a good/proper amount in the pizza. In the St Charles location no problem. Bloomingdale 3 times found barely any sausage in the pizza. They are not on my radar anymore.Stick with St Charles or Streamwood both are consistent in what a Giordanos stuff pie should taste like. Employees are helpful as well. read more

We frequent Giordano's and definitely this will be our last time dining and having parties at this establishment! The pizza crust was tough and chewy So we brought it to the manager's attention. He tore up a piece and said there's nothing wrong with the crust and it's a "personal preference" I responded to him saying that it should not be a struggle to chew on pizza. He did agree that some were hard supporting our discontent. But insisted there's nothing wrong with the pizza! Where is the quality? Equally disappointing was his response when I brought it to his attention! There are a lot of other pizzerias in the neighborhood...Lou Malnatis, Gino's East, Rosati's , and others that are within minutes from each other, hence I'm very surprised with the attitude, Peter! The pizza was very delicious and worth the wait. The service was excellent. The spaghetti and meat sauce was good, but not excellent.

I absolutely loved the pizza, I really don't eat pizza often so this was not only a treat but an entirely awesome experience. The waitress also suggested to my friend and I a way to make our dining experience a little less costly by combining our individual pizzas into a single small six slice. Normally I don't rate things so low. I've never been served here but mostly get take out or delivery. EVERY TIME... they overcook something and has singe marks. The first time I went with a friend and the thin crust pizza was burnt and had a lot of black near the edges and bottom of the pizza. It was edible but, it just felt... I don't know... overpriced for burnt pizza. If I get a nice pizza at a nice restaurant, I expect quality. Quality ingredients are great but not with poor quality cooking. Once I had flatbread and it came out extra extra crispy, dry, and with black edges and bottom. My boyfriend also got me a pizza the other day and it was soooo yummy but again... I love pepperoni, so he topped it off with some pepperoni, however, the pizza tasted amazing and good but my pepperoni were mostly all burnt. I ate them but they still tasted burnt. I'm loving the menu and the deep dish is definitely the way to go. The flatbreads are good. Garlic fries could be improved. Salads are huge! They deserve more stars once I've eaten something not so burnt. read more

I'm a Chicago and Chicago Suburban native, so clearly my favorite pizza is NOT from a chain pizza joint, but I'm not dissing Giordano's either. Typically, those who are not from the Chicago area flock to these kinds of places. My friend and I were catching a movie nearby at Charlestown Cinema and thought we'd grab pizza for dinner, and since I haven't had Giordanos in YEARS, it was a nice option. We stopped in this past Saturday around 7:30pm. There was a family waiting in the booths, I'm not sure if they were waiting for their pizza, or to be seated. They WERE busy, so I'll give them that. There was no hostess, a very unfriendly girl told us there was a 20 minute wait, didn't take our name or anything so I responded "there are two of us". She said "ok" and walked off. A party of four walked in shortly after and the waiting area was even more crowded. They asked what was up and why they weren't greeted or anything and I told them there wasn't a hostess or anything so we weren't sure who was next. One of the guys from the group tried waving down a staff member who just kept walking by and ignored him, he found an older woman working back there, she too told him there was no hostess. A few minutes later the unfriendly younger girl came back and seated us. We sat....and waited....and waited.... a server came by and asked if anyone was waiting on us. He took care of us from there on out, in fact he did a great job and we tipped him over 20%. It balanced out the long wait, and I don't even think OUR table belonged to him. The pizza was "ok" too, just took a while to get to our table which only added to the much longer experience here. I also don't know if there is a plumming problem since all of the toilets in the women's bathroom were full of toilet paper like a porta potty. Kind of gross, actually. We decided to go out for a rare meal out with our two young boys. I even plan ahead ahead and pre-ordered our deep dish pizza so that we didn't have to entertain two toddlers for nearly an hour. The pizza came out lukewarm. Our server never checked back in, until she finally brought the check (20 minute gap). No refills - good thing we ordered waters in addition to drinks. In her defense, she did have two large groups, but I've served and know it's possible to still check in or ask for help checking in on smaller tables like ours. The most helpful employee (the guy who boxed our leftover pizza, got refills as we were waiting for the check, and got the server's attention) had another company's branded polo on - didn't think he even worked for Giordano's. Then, to top things off our bill was incorrect and we were over-charged by about $8 for items we didn't order. I didn't feel like waiting another hour to get their mistake corrected for my benefit so I left 10% tip and we left. We love Giordano's but will not be coming back to this location. My experience at the St Charles location doesn't even deserve one star. I went here for dinner with my family and we received the WORST customer service. After finishing up my SECOND glass of water, I noticed something in the ice. There was a bug stuck between the ice in my drink... THAT I HAD JUST FINISHED!!! I was sick to my stomach and felt extremely nauseous. When we tell the waitress we had, she had me put the ice in a plate so she can take a look at it. She starts playing with it next to us, and as the ice starts to melt she proceeds to say "it's still alive" as if that was suppose to make my family and I feel better. She takes the plate with the bug on it and says she'll talk to the manager. She comes back about 10 minutes later and just drops the check on the table. A couple minutes passed she comes back to take the check back thinking we had already paid. But we told her we would like to speak to the manager first before paying and she goes "I honestly don't know what the manager can even do for you guys" with attitude. Whatever. The manager comes up after a couple more minutes passed and he literally just stands in front of my family for a good 15 seconds without saying anything. No apology, no nothing so my dad said, "no sorry or anything?" And he was extremely hesitant to say sorry. He was not genuine at all!!! He then says things like, "I've never seen that type of bug here before" "the bug was still alive" assuming that we had brought that bug there and put it in my drink. The manager is laughing as he talks to us too. He even asked "are you guys from here?" Like what does that have to do with anything? Sounded pretty racist to me. My family and I will never ever ever return to this place ever again nor will we ever recommend this place to anyone. The customer service was ridiculously upsetting plus they have bugs on their ice. Disgusting! I hope Giordano's does something about this.9 ***UPDATE THEY REPLIED TELLING ME TO EMAIL THEM AND IT HAS BEEN 11 DAYS SINCE I EMAILED THEM LIKE THEY ASKED AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANYTHING BACK!!!! I don't know what is going on with delivery these days but its gone downhill and Giordano's is no exception. I ordered two kids meals that came with drinks and when the delivery guy showed up he told me his manager said because we don't have the right cups you won't get your drinks. Hr looked s uncomfortable and embarassed. I called and spoke to the manager and he seemed a bit annoyed that I was questioning why. The reason I questioned his decision because in the past we got those drinks. He rectified the situation however it took 30 min to get them. We were done with our meals. 30 min is unacceptable when a delivery order is incorrect. If the manager reads this maybe calling your customers when they order kids meals and inform them about the drink situation and maybe offer 1 one litre bottle or can which is basically the equivalent to the cups the brought back to us. Or corporate should change their website to state not on delivery order's. I work in the industry so I know customer service and how it all works. You may think wow all this over two drinks. Well yes, I paid for these and I expect them to arrive and not 30 min after the fact. Overall I enjoy their food but I was dissatisfied how the manager deals with things. read more

We ordered a deep dish Pizza ahead of time ( we have a 1.5year old and a 4 year old), roughly 4:35. We got to the restaurant 45 minutes later and still had to wait another 20-25 minutes for our Pizza. When we got it, the cheese was luke warm at best, the sauce was watery, and the dough was undercooked. We sent the pizza back and they cooked it an additional 5 minutes. All that did was warm it up slightly mire. Our kids wouldn't even eat more than a few bites. We each ate maybe a slice before boxing it up to take home. Hopefully with another 15 minutes in the oven at home it will taste a lot better. Would highly recommend driving a little further to the Glen Ellyn or Bloomingdale location. read more

So I booked this Giordano's location for the rehearsal dinner before my wedding. I reserved the time and date about 2 months in advance and was told to call back about a week before to place my order for food. I did just that and they were very helpful and everything seemed to be in order. When my party arrived at the time of our reservation they claimed to have no record of our reservation and no food order. I had record in my phone that I called their location a week prior, so I honestly don't know how we got lost in the shuffle. A mistake was made which can obviously happen, but the staff never once apologized for the error. They eventually got tables together for our party of 35 people, but we were only given one waiter to take care of us. She was not the best, but I gave her a lot of credit for her effort because she was put in an entirely unfair situation. They slowly got drinks for everyone and the salads came eventually, but my husband and I had to approach them about placing our pizza order. If we had not asked the staff, who knows how much longer we would have had to wait for food. It was supposed to be a pizza "buffet", but instead the 10 pizzas we order trickled out of the kitchen and were not distributed among our tables very efficiently. Some people had to wait 30 minutes for a slice of pizza. At the end of the night we were charged $16/person for the pizza "buffet" and salads, but we only ended up ordering those 10 pizzas. Our bill totaled well over $800 when we didn't consume anywhere near that amount of food. Once again the staff never apologized for the poor service and messing up our reservation and we were not offered any type of compensation for the trouble. My mother-in-law went back to the restaurant the following Monday and was able to clear things up with the manager who was shocked to hear what had happened. The owner of the location was in the restaurant that night and basically ignored the situation. The manager refunded us $450 and that part of our experience was very helpful and appreciated. Ultimately I would made two suggestions to anyone in a similar situation: 1) DO NOT have a large party at his location, logistically they don't really have the means to make it work 2) Just pay for what your large party is going to eat, the party packages are not worth it unless each person eats a TON of pizza I hope this helps! read more

Pizza is ok nothing to write home about but the worst part is their customer service, its seem some of the people there don't want to be there, if you don't want to deal with the public then get a job that you don't have to period. It's takes forever to get your food, waitress seem she was in another planet but this has to deal with management too, if they don't care the employee are not going to care either!
