Mr. Grady assured me that he had enough help to accomodate my wants and needs. Well, first he had to take a sample of my walls because he is a colorblind painter(first red flag). Next, he said he'll have to get paint(which is understandable). Then, he begins the process and makes considerable progress. But then I don't hear from him for 3 months(second red flag). He left spilled paint on my floors, paint buckets open and lieing around, trash(drink cups and snacks) lieing around, and a considerable amount of the house not painted.(third red flag). Anyways, I left him numerous messages asking him to at the very least, contact me and apprise me of the situation. Then, towards Christmas in a span of 2 hours(I didn't have my cell phone on me at the time because of work) he left me 3 voicemails, 1 message at my place of employment, and somehow he managed to leave a message with my elderly parents. I assume he needed money for Christmas because he was eager to finish my house. Well, he finished painting my house, and I pay the man. Only later did I notice NUMEROUS areas where they failed to paint the trimwork. I know, it was my own fault for paying him before I completed a full inspection. Oh, red flag number 4... I believe his company was smaller than he had assured me. I believe it is just he and one employee as far as painters go. All in all, the work was sub-par, the communication skills of the company was sub-par, and I am just unimpressed.

Leroy sent me a message requesting to come out next day to our new home. When Leroy arrived, he was accompanied by Jeremy. While Leroy spoke with me about our journey to this new home, Jeremy took pictures and measurements of the inside. Afterwards, they both went out to their truck and about 20 minutes later returned with an estimate. Leroy read over it with me and then simply said that if we were interested, to sign the estimate and email it to him. Their wasn't any pressure or sales pitch. Very refreshing!!! I was super impressed with them, that I wanted to post this review and the text that I sent to Leroy (below). Hello Leroy. I wanted to Thank You and Jeremy for coming out today. You were both super friendly, respectful, and professional. It is a blessing to hear a man of faith holds a mayoral position (Newton) and is successful in business. Unfortunately, we will be unable to hire your company and will have to proceed with doing the work ourselves. While your estimate was less than the previous estimate we had, we are not in the financial position to be able to hire someone. As I said earlier, we are a one income household and through individual and family prayer, walked out in faith buying this house. We will continue to rely on God to help us make it our home, even if it takes us forever Thank You again for your visit. Praying for many Blessings for you, your family, and your company family

Review - River City Painting Adam came out and gave us a…read morequote for the inside and outside of our house. He was very professional and very good. We were told the job would take three weeks to complete, 1 for the outside and 2 for the inside. The first week, a crew of 4 arrived, they started on the outside of the house. For the first 1 1/2 weeks they did great, so good in fact, that we thought at the rate they were going they would be done with everything in another week. Then the company started messing with the crew. Instead of being at our house from 9-5 they were there from 9-1 or 10-2; then off somewhere else. They pulled people off our house and substituted with others, and things started going downhill. Instead of the 3 weeks we were told, it took 5 1/2 weeks to complete the project. They started creating problems they had to come back to fix. They caulked between the garage doors and the stone wall and then used a white caulk, and of course it spread out over the wood and stone, then they painted to cover it up. It looked terrible with a jagged edge on the stone. They had to come back, cut the caulk back to the wood, then recaulk with clear and repaint. They took 10 wood blinds out of the windows. Some of the windows had wood frames, some were plaster frames. They were told the blinds would not be going back up. The windows with the plaster molding needed to be filled and smoothed. Some they did and some they just painted over and left the rough area where the brackets had been. They had to go back and fix this problem. We noticed when they were done that some of the rooms they had gotten paint on the edge of the ceiling; there was also some paint from prior paint jobs along the edge as well. We mentioned the problem, they decided they were going to try and fix it. Edura started and was doing an excellent job with a small brush. Next thing we knew they pulled him the next day, someone else took over the job but used a 1 1/2 - 2-inch brush and made it very visible. They went and got paint and tried to match the old ceiling paint. It was better but still very noticeable. One of the supervisors came in and told us they would have to paint the entire ceilings; another came in and said it had only been old paint on the ceiling so it wasn't their fault. There was old paint AND new paint on the ceiling, and THEY had decided to fix it. You can still see the different colors. The problems went on. We kept hearing that it was not their fault, they were just trying to make it right for us. From their perspective, it was our fault. We were the reason they had to fix the mess THEY created. Outside of the ceilings, the final project does look good, even though the ceiling is still a problem. So I rated them a 2 instead of a 1. I cannot recommend using them as 5 1/2 weeks vs 3 weeks is a lot of our time and not what we were told.

Even though Victor's bid was higher than most, I bought into his story line of doing exceptional work. The work performed looked more like a DIY job by first timers vs a professional paint job. There were drip marks embedded paint brush bristles, uneven glaze, etc. He delegates a lot of the detail work to his "apprentices" and basically takes over your home (and in our case garage) while working the project. He emphatically stated the paint wouldn't chip - it's chipped pretty noticeably around door edges. So here we are two years out and the cabinets will have to be sanded and repainted. You will be much better served by either buying a kit, taking your time and DIY or definitely hire someone else who will do a professional job.

The faux wood garage door turned out pretty good. It has held up so far and we're generally pretty happy with it. The entry doors however are starting to chip and peel on some of the trim. The doors were purchased from Menards and the majority of the doors appear to have been well primed except for the trim; it appears to be bare plastic. My thinking is that a professional painter would recognize this and prime them accordingly. But in Victors defense I could see how it might have been missed. We knew we had/have a warranty on the work so we thought it would be no big deal to contact him and have him out to fix the problem areas. When my wife contacted him in June 2018 he informed her he was now retired and there was no way to remedy the sub-par work. For whatever it's worth, his website is still up and there is no indication of a retirement announcement. He also mentioned nothing about an impending retirement 9 months ago when he did the work. Had he done that we likely would have hired a different contractor. I believe it is appropriate to honor a warranty for the full term even if retirement happens within the term. If the retirement was unexpected, such as a health reason, it certainly was not shared with my wife when she called.
