The clean and tastefully decorated interior is perfect for young children to upper elementary in age. My family was warmly greeted by the employees, and they were genuine in their interactions with us. Near the front, there is a lovely space to do birthday parties and have cake, while being separate from the food-free rest of the facility. The rest of the facility is an absolute blast. There are more areas than I have pictures of, and my littles loved every spot. The favorite area was the ship, as it has a second level and sound effects to imitate a cannon firing. They even have a dedicated area for small children who cannot walk. It truly has something for every young child. Parking can be found along the street or in a side parking lot, so we had no issues with finding space, even though they were hosting a birthday party while we were there. The bathrooms are clean and bright. I could tell even before talking with one employee about the cleaning schedule that the materials are well cared for and routinely inspected for cleanliness and quality. I could spend a whole day here, but we unfortunately we were coming close to their closing time and had to leave. This definitely will be a place I keep in mind for my youngest kiddos next birthday. There's even a building next door with more railroad memorabilia, and across the street, you can explore a replica steam train known as the "Tornado," which is a fun nod to North Carolina's railroading past. Let me just say that it is big. Everything is big about this race track. It has a big parking lot, a big race track, a big grand stand and etc. You can see the whole race track from any seat. I had no problems in parking and left the race track easily. The race track food was delicious as expect to stand in long lines at the concession stands but they are not real long. On Scene: I parked next to some other pickup trucks that happen to be tailgating. I never been to an oval dirt race track where I have seen tailgating. I have only seen this at NASCAR race tracks and football games. Anyway, I sat on my tailgate for a few minutes to prepare for watching the races. Then, I grabbed my lawn chair and bought a pit pass for so I can go wherever I wanted including the grand stands. I walked through the pits looking at some of the race cars as I was going to the grand stands to set up my lawn chair. I picked a place to put my chair as high up as possible so I could see all of the race track. This way, I can see everything and really enjoy the entertainment. Next, I left my seat for the pits to take pictures of race cars and talk to put crew members. One tip I would give is to be alert and make sure you don't get in anybody's way while in the pits as you don't want to bother them. I like walking in the pits a few hours before the race during the day. You can take pictures like I did and can easily see the race cars. Then, at night you can sit in the grand stands and watch the race.

I had a great time there in the past and I was excited when a powwow friend of mine who lives near me wanted to go. We loaded up our stuff and drove the 5.5 hours to get there. Parking was a little weird as the dancers had to register at the boys and girls club then drive over to the cultural center grounds. Spectators had to park at the club and take a shuttle over. We then had to register at the grounds to compete in the dance competition. The dancing throughout the weekend was great. There were many good drums in attendance, even one from as far as Washington State. Everyone was being polite and friendly but come competition time everyone had their game face on. The powwow committee even held special dance contests like Men's Eastern Woodland Dance and Men's and Women's Smoke Dance. It's not what you think so you'll have to do some research on it if you're a powwow noob. We didn't win but we had a good time dancing, meeting new people and seeing old friends. The grounds also had some reproductions of native dwelling structures and some demos of fingerweaving and farming but I really enjoyed the vendors. The Vendors were awesome! I bought 2 powwow shirts and almost bought some beads and wampum. But for me the real star was one food vendor, Sly Fox Den! They're from Massachusetts and they had a slew of seafood dishes. I had to get their Smoked Salmon and Smoked Scallops and I was good and full after eating both. We had a good time and I'll try to return again.
