There are many options for lodging and other activities and this camp is specially geared toward those who love the outdoors while needing some modern conveniences. This is a great summer camp for kids. They are busy off of tablets, phones, Tvs, and IPads. My boys speak of the canoeing, bow and arrows, and the razor cars, the nature center and the horses off and on all year. They said the food is good, not great. But that's kids for you! They like things their way and some foods are still not too their liking. I enjoy the fact they get time off electronics. The time for them to be boys and have fun with out a worry wort mother hovering over them. I also appreciate the camper email, the store with credits so the kids don't take cash and the flash drive at the end.. (Suggestion of a kid buys a disposable camera at the camp store please put his name in it) one of ours was stolen. I also wish there was a sibling discount. Sending three to camp is a bit expensive but they love it so. We thank you for the fun these last two summers. We have one more camper to go this year. The kids main complaint is that they want a movie night.... Maybe a thought for just one time out of the week. If not I support your choice. read more

If I could give this place a negative rating I would.my wife is disabled and can hardly get around without a wheelchair,when they first arrived they only have one handicap parking and the man who runs the place was parked there and when asked to move he said he would but never did.the room was dirty,the trash didn't get thrown out,they have bunk beds in the room and no ladder to get to the top bunk so they had to use the dresser to get to the top bunk,the beds had dirty sheets and one bed had blood on the sheets.there was something on one of the pillows that one woman had an allergic reaction to.my wife was told that the facility was only one floor and it wasn't,she had to drive to be able to go anywhere,the parking lot was full of gravel so if she did have a wheelchair she would have had a hard time getting around,and the food was terrible.everyone as far as I know paid 150.00 each for this Al anon retreat and there were at least 100 people there for this retreat. This so called ranch should give everyone their money back!!!!!! read more

This was my first year working at GVR and I'd like to say a great thank you to the kids and staff. I have made many new friends and wonderful memories. The staff encourages everyone to be kind and there for the kids. I would like to unfortunately complain about one of the counsellors I've worked with this year. She was new as well and her name is Hannah Gregerson. I started noticing Hannah's rude behavior towards the kids in tween week. She snapped rude comments toward them and I was very surprised because she does come off as a sweet girl. Haha apparently not... She as if bullied the kids and I believe that she should not deserve a job at GVR if she is going to make the kids feel unsafe and bullied by her. GVR is supposed to be a safe heaven and I feel as if she ruined that for many campers. I had a few kids in Teen Week that complained to me about her and told me what she did, I won't say exactly because id like to protect those campers identities, but they said at times shed would "kick" kids out of the bathroom if they were taking too long. Anyway I would like people and staff to be warned about Hannah she is a rude and inconsiderate person that has minimal experience with kids and it truly shows. Let God be with her. read more
