Hmmmm I was really excited to have my nails done here. Sadly. It turned out to be quite the disappointment. I had prebooked the promo #7. This took forever and the end result was a nightmare. -I wasn't told what the person's name was, nor was i offered a beverage. The one thing I did like is that they played movies to watch. (I was there so long, I sat through almost 2 entire ones! ) My neck and back were so sore, I almost couldnt stand the pain. -I asked the girl to make the stripe silver- she made it gold (as well as all of them way too thin and crooked) -I asked her to make the bows bigger and she argued with me (so much that someone else came and did them) I wish the same person would of also completed the hearts- as they turned out very deformed. -She did not trim down, or push back my cuticles as every other place always has. They look awful -Many of my nails are lopsided, misshapen and or deformed. Looks like they were not professionally done at all. -She also did not clean out the underside of the nails. She left my original nails showing all different lenghts -it looks horrible. -She also did such a terrible job that after 2 days my thumbnail cracked -then broke right off! The other thumbnail, and middle nail cracked as well only 4 days after getting them done! I sent an email about this and have not heard back. After paying 110$ I am quite upset how horrible of a job this place did, especially since they were supposed to be an "award winning" salon! *Please see Photos* They look so bad that i am embarrassed about them - not to mention now I have to pay to get them fixed elsewhere as well as take time out to get them fixed I will not be returning ( since they have not contacted me about the email I sent about the problems I had ) *Update*- a week after getting them done my middle nail broke off so far down the nail bed it is super sore and it was bleeding a lot This is the second broken nail now, plus the cracked thumb which I am sure will also break off at any time. I have been getting my nails done for 20 years and never have they cracked and broke off like this - especially in the first week ! DON'T GO...Very very unprofessional! I scheduled my bridal nails here but had a horrible experience. The staff was very impatient and urged me to pick a bridal design within few minutes. I could understand this as time was limited and they were busy. However, what was really disappointing was that they applied excessive hard gel on my fingers (8-9 layers) that caused my nails to be SUPER thick and did not look asthetically appealing at all. The gel stayed on a few months after the wedding. When I tried to remove the gel at another salon, it took them a long time to handle with care but the gel still remained because it was too thick. Then, when the remaining gels finally came off on their own, my nails became ruptured and very thin. Some of my nails even bled internally because they were damaged. I had to do intensive hand care for awhile in order for my nails to be back to normal again. Also, they charged me more than $400 for the hard gels, which was TOTALLY not worth it. I regretted very much doing my bridal nails here and I definitely won't recommend anyone to do nails here. Go somewhere else. You deserve to spend at a place that is worth the price and service. read more

EDIT: The owner just contacted me and was extremely apologetic. She offered me a full refund and was extremely honest and said the technician was new and she will make sure this won't happen again. In this case I would give it a try again with a different tech. It's extremely appreciated when managers/owners step up and try to make everything work. I just had the worst nail job done. I'm quite upset because it was my first time at the Glam Studio. I asked for a ombré nail and I literally got the worst art ever. Alexis took 3.5h to do this job and I started to see she was having trouble. By the time she was done I just wanted to leave, I literally paid and went to cry on my car. this place is amazing!!!!!! i'm from out of country and whether you are local or not, i definitely recommend if you want some cuuuuuute nails! keiko was my nail tech for this visit, and she and mayu helped me achieve my dream pokemon nails. mayu premade my lapras and alolan vulpix dittos before my appointment and they turned out soo cute and perfect. the attention to detail is so careful, and keiko made sure my nails were exactly how i wanted them in terms of color and design. i even mentioned that i wanted to go to the richmond night market, and keiko went as far as to ask her associates if they had room on their fast pass tickets. their hospitality and professionalism is second to none! read more

Highly recommended this place. The place is clean, and you get a basket to place your handbag (just like Japan)! So you don't have to put your handbag on the floor or share your seat. I'm so impressed with my esthetician, she's Korean- she is gentle and nice; pays attention to details. She checked the length of nails on both of my hands. There's a little sign on Glam Nail Studio's Yelp page that says you can message them for an appointment on Yelp. So I did. The owner, Keiko, replied and told me to call her to set something up. So I did. The phone didn't even ring and went straight to voicemail. So I left a voicemail with my phone number in it for her to call me back. She called me back, but did not leave a message for me. Keiko then messaged me on Yelp asking for my phone number. How ridiculous, and what a complete waste of time! read more

My friend recommended me this place. At first, i wasn't sure about the place but after a few times there, i must say "the best service" i ever experienced and the best nail salon. They have a lot of nail magazines there so you can look through or there is a monthly nail design promotion as well so you can decide which nail designs you want to go for. The place is very clean. They have a small basket under the chair for your purse... and a place to hang up your coat!...... the most thing i'm impressed with is that the swarovski stones on the nails do not come off at all! =) I am very happy with them and will keep going back monthly. read more

best nail place ever. hitomi is an awesome nail technician. she's very friendly and isn't overly talkative but isn't quiet either. my friend had recommended her and i am so glad she did! i originally came in with a specific nail colour in mind, but after asking some questions, hitomi had brought what i requested along with her recommendation - something unexpected and i totally love it. the colour went well with for my engagement event and it turned out i love the shade hitomi chose more than the one i originally chose. she took care to paint each shade of paint on, one on each nail, to show me the difference before i decided. she was super professional, but made me feel at ease. i don't usually get my nails done, and was a bit worried at first because of the crazy nail art i had seen on their website. BUT i am so glad i gave them a try. everything is sanitized here and the place is spotless clean. they make you feel very vip here, compared to some places i've been to. they seemed to have thought out everything - where to put your bag, your jacket, your shoes (if you're going for a pedicure), without it getting in the way. read more

From the prices and reviews, I expected much, much more from this place. I'm not one to enjoy protruding "art" on my nails. I enjoy simple, good manicures and polish application. It shouldn't be that hard if you are well-known for all this complicated nail art. Or so I thought... It's true that they have a cute concept going - basket under your chair for bags and other belongings. But, that's it. That's about the most impressive thing about this place. The girls don't speak English very well, so I don't expect conversation. We were checked in and seated quite promptly. The problem with a language barrier in this business is the failure to communicate your product. She had asked if I wanted hard or soft gel. I said I had the soft, soak-off gel on my fingers, and that's what I want today. She brought out a few color wheels and a plastic palette. We examined the colors and chose one from a wheel. She then revealed that the colors on the wheel are for "soft gel", which is an entirely different type of gel polish. Well then... why were we given the color wheels in the first place? Finally, I said I was only here for the $35 gel application - whatever that was. She nodded and took away the color wheels, leaving me with the color palette. It had, maybe, 20 colors on it. I was so disappointed. Most of the colors were also pastel, Spring colors. It's summer... those just won't do! As she was filing my nails, I could tell that she wasn't very good at it. I ended up with lop-sided nails. The application wasn't fantastic either. She remembered to seal the tips of my nails; however, it's been a few days now and the tips have mostly chipped off. On top of everything, they charge $5 for removal even though you are getting a new gel polish set. Altogether, I paid $42 (tax included) for my below-par gel polish application. On my way out, she offered me a package of 3 visits. NO thank you. I'm already regretting coming here once. Forget 2 more visits. Perhaps this place is great for nail art and such, but if you are just looking for a clean and simple gel polish application, forget it. read more

an update from my previous review. I've been to glam nails for years, but this year is the only year that i am actually disappointed with the results. I have sent pictures to glam nails days before my appointment, nothing was said about not being able to do the design that I sent them until at the time of the service itself. The girl actually draw my design too thin, when told, she seems to refuse to try. I wish they would have told me in advance if they were not able to do the design (it is cable knit design that seems like a lot of other places able to do). If it weren't for Keiko who has done such a incredible job for my friend's nail, I would have given 1 star to the girl who did my nails today. read more

Best nail salon in Vancouver 100% and I can't wait to go again! I went a month ago and had some really cool 3D art done... All I can say is that I'm in love.. They are a bit steep in price, but the job i had done is really one of kind and after being like two weeks overdue for a fill they still get compliments. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I can't go to any other place to do my nails! All nail techs are Japanese and are very skilled. They are very detailed oriented and brilliant artists. There is probably nothing they can't do. The store is extremely clean and has a very relaxing environment. They're always playing a movie on the tv for entertainment. Every time I get my nails done I get tons of compliments! I highly recommend this place for anyone who is willing to spend a little more for their nails and appreciate real talent! read more

Edit: after my review the owner contacted me and offered to fix my mails herself. In the end a senior tech fixed my nails and they are much more even now. I paid $119 for a set that was not worth it. Some of my nails are super thick and some are thin. She didn't seem to want to decorate my nails either, which I requested when I made the appointment. It is expensive but i feel like it is worth it. I usually go with Liz who is extremely detailed and spends almost up to 3 hours on my nails. I have fragile and small nails which has lead to a lot of bad experiences in cheaper salons. However liz has never once made me bleed unlike these other salons and understands my situation. She takes into account the client's comfort and will set the gel in intervals not to hurt the client. Additionally, she builds layers and sands them down several times by hand (which is why the session may longer). She also takes into account how the nail will grow out and the natural shape of your finger and builds the nail accordingly. I was really impressed! Admittedly I don't come here as often as I should for maintenance so my nails grow out quite a bit but I haven't had a problem with lifting or breaking yet and I often wait a month and a half in between bookings. They're also often booked weeks in advance so it is important to call but they'll remind you with a text message the day before your appointment (which is good because I always forget) My experience is limited to one nail tech but they all seem very nice. read more

Went in recently for a manicure and was very disappointed. As a renowned nail art studio who does a lot of crazy detailed designs, you'd think they'd be able to get basic one colour polish application down. Unfortunately, that was not the case. While they did a good job of fully covering my nail, within minutes I could see a LOT of bubbles forming on the surface. After an hour or so, even more popped up. The polish also took FOREVER to dry, resulting in a very messed up manicure. Even when I went to sleep more than 10 hours later, it still left an imprint, which has never happened to me before. It was not a cheap basic manicure either, but I could've done a MUCH better job myself. My technician seemed very nice but there was a language barrier. There was also no fan machine that helped to dry your nails faster, which I have gotten at every other nail studio before. The colour choices were quite limited, and they kept saying they did not have time to do anything more, although no customers came for quite a while after we left the store. I've actually come here a long time ago for gel nails, which turned out okay, but after this experience I don't think I'll be returning for any service again. I heard about this place through Instagram. I was pleased with what I had saw on there. So I made my appointment at which I made 2 weeks in advance. I had booked off time at work to go to my appointment... A couple nights before my scheduled appointment I had gotten a text saying my appointment was for the next day (one day prior to my scheduled appointment) so I had to rebook off time for the next day. When I got there they told me it was for the next day... Super unorganized... So anyways I get back to work and explain to my boss what had happened and my appointment was for the next day. So we had booked off time for the day my scheduled appointment was for. I go to my appointment and they booked off 1.5 hours which was well enough time to do the set I had asked for... But it wasn't and she was rushing through the whole appointment and wasn't checking for symmetry. Being a nail tech it bothers me. And I had thought that for an "award winning" salon they would at least try to carry out a reputation for it. I rebooked for a fill... Going to my appointment i had higher expectations because the owner was doing my nails this time... I had one broken nail that she had to fix, and while she was filing another nail she broke that one... Blaming it on me saying there was a crack already. But not to worry cause she wasn't going to charge me for it. I asked for a simple design... A solid colour and sparkles. Not to hard to accomplish. My nail shapes were all different and 4 of my nails were completely crooked. Not to mention the gel polish kept shrinking in the lamp and she ended up giving up on trying to fix it and just through some top coat. Gave one star as their technique is good. The technician I used to use has left the place so I had to pick another technician. However, I have received the most insulting service ever. Went purposely to do my gel nails for my travel vacation but was not treated right. Firstly, I made my appt for a named technician (someone who does my friends' nail) but I was treated by another person when I get there without even an explanaton. My nails were shaped oddly but I thought it is no big deal. I then on the next day, found that one of the nails is ready chipping. So I phoned the place and asked if they can fix it before my flight. It was fixed by the owner of the store on the date of my flight. Things then turned bad. Five out of my ten finger nails turned DARK the second day I was overseas. My nails looked like I am someone working in a car repair shop during the whole vacation. After I returned to Vancouver, I politely advised the owner about the dark nails matter. She offered to fix them and give me some kind of compensation but she was too busy to take them off and redo them for me hence I kept the appt that was made before my trip and I went there for the repair/new set. I was prepared to pay for the new set. Attitudes changed totally from all members in the store when I get there. They were discussing the issue in Japanese and talked to me like I was there to take advantages. The technician told me it was my fault that the nails turned dark as I have touched something that have caused that. How do I know what I cannot touch after gel nail? This never happened before and I had a feeling that they wanted to blame me instead of their defect product. I did not say anything but was silently being rudely treated. The technician was so mean that I had to ask her if she was upset or something, she said no in the most blunt way. I felt insulted but I had to let her finish my nails. I picked a style and asked her for her advice re. color. She impatiently told me it is up to me to pick, she has no recommendation. At the time of payment, the owner told me they will give me 20% off but I am not entitled to the regular discounts that we get when paying by cash and that the prebooked appt was keep. Which means, for all the drama before and after my vacation, they only gave me a 10% discount and has treated me like I was begging them for a compensation. The service costed me about $70 even with the 20% discount and the design I picked was only a simple one. I left the store feeling insulted and upset. I regretted that I should not be so nice for someone's mistake and that they have taken advantages of my kindness. They did not even ask me for my next appt booking, I guess they do not want me to return. It's too bad that they were so nastly about their product defect and that I will have to find another place for my nails. But for an experience like this, I will never return to "beg" for their expensive service. read more

so far, glam nail salon never fail to disappointment me. they do a SUPERB JOB when it comes to nail designs. wonderful customer service. they don't push you and their tools are quite sanitized. they also give you a free file for you to file down your nails when they grow out. of course with all these wonderful things are a bit costly. average would cost you $60+ for a new set. most i've had was $130+. overall, i would definitely come back and will continue to recommend them to my friends. read more

I've been coming to this salon for over 3 years now. It's hard to get an appointment here on the weekends unless you book in advance. All the technicians here are skillful, although it seems that lately the turnover rate of their staff here is quite high. I used to get my nails done by this one technician, and after a few months she no longer worked here. Same thing happened the year after, another tech that I frequently go for, gone. I have to say the staff here aren't as great as before. My last couple of visits had been rushed (I always arrive 5-10 min early), and I had to ask them to fix my designs because they were trying to rush through everything. My other complain is that the staff are japanese and they will chit chat in japanese amongst themselves. I know a little bit of Japanese and there were a few times where I heard the staff bad mouthing about their customers in front of them, but the customers had no clue because they didn't understand the language. The price here is higher than other salons out there, but they do have a lot choices with your nail art (stones/stickers/3d art). Mind you, the little emblishments/designs do add up very quickly, especially if you want more than 1 color/polish. There is extra charge if you want to mix colors. Even a glitter line is another $6. If you aren't going for crazy complicated designs, there are other salons out there which can do the same as here, with a smaller price tag. read more

Unless you are getting their specialty crazy nails with fun designs, stay away. I made the mistake of going for a regular mani / pedi. I made the appointment for both my mom and I who were in town for my brother's wedding after hearing rave reviews from locals. Well, when we arrived and told the owner what we wanted she looked at my boots and said they would ruin my pedicure and asked if I had brought flip flops. I said 'no' and said 'don't you have drying machines? Well, that was just the catch - they don't and it did ruin my mani /pedi BTW - Keiko was pushy and tried to upsell us to the shellac. I was not in the mood to pay more, this trip out west being more expensive than I had anticipated. But I just could not believe that a salon like this would not have the standard drying machines - they actually used little fans to dry your nails! Every nail salon I have ever been to (low to high end and in between has one) so I think that's unacceptable. A salon has to be able to provide good service for all types of mani / pedi not just one type. I noticed there were no chairs with attached basins to soak your feet in either. You sat on a little upraised couch and they brought a basin of water. The actual mani/pedi was fine - nothing crazy outstanding. What cheesed me off was 1. How pushy the owner was 2. The lack of equipment that can make or break your pedicure. 3. Paying good money for substandard service. I had to leave about 1 1/2 later and my nails weren't completely dry. Went about my day running errands in the city trying to be as careful as possible but of course, manicure got smudged and gross, the toes were too. I suppressed the urge to scream bloody murder recognizing these are '1st world problems' but it really did bother me. So, unless you are going for their specialty don't bother going there for a regular mani / pedi. read more

Nail polish was redone for free. They said that the nail polish application was too thick and thus caused a tonne of bubbles. When I re polished I chose a shimmery color though, just to lower the risk of bubbles forming again. I've been here once, for a promo I saw on their website. I like the fact that you can put your bags in a basket and keep them from getting dirty. Liz was the technician who did my nails, and she really made sure she did a great and thorough job. From what I saw, Liz has gorgeous nails, and if you have the money and time, she'll even do the same design if you like it! There seemed be to a huge assortment of colors they had at their disposal, and some special glitter. Liz was really easy to talk to, and so was the manager, Keiko. The only thing is that the salon is quite small, and the price is on the higher end. Of course, these ladies do a great job, and I wouldn't mind returning for a special occasion when I can spend a bit more money. Please, please, PLEASE make sure you book in advance, especially if you'd like to come in during a Saturday, since they can get super busy. Gave 1 star as I think their technique is really outstanding. However, I have received a very insulting service this time. I have used their service for many times and my technician was very very good, both skill and service wise, until she has left the place so I was forced to use another technician of theirs. Before traveling for 3 weeks, I purposely went there for a simple gel nail polish wishing to look nice during my vacation. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. First, I made the appt asking for one named technician (someone who does my friends' nails). I was treated by someone else instead of the lady and was not even explained why. After one day, the day before my vacation, I already notiche that the nail on my thumb has started to come off so I went there again on the day of my departure flight to get it fixed. The owner fixed my nail and was pretty accomendating. Things started to turn bad. On my second day overseas, 5 out of my 10 nails started to turn dark! The whole time of my vacation I was like a car repair person as my nails was very dirty looking. After returning to Vancouver, I went there to show them what happened to my nail. The owner said it never happened before but was too busy to undo and redo new ones for me so she only did an urgent touch up for those 5 dark nails. The owner apologied and said that she will give me some kind of compensation when i return. I went there again 3 days later, which appt was booked on my very first visit. I was treated as though I planned to take advantages of their service. The technician was so rude that I had to ask her if she was upset or what. She did not even talk to me. During the time of the process, the owner and this technician of mine kept talking Japanese in front of me. This is already very rude to speak a language that only they could understand. When I asked my technician which color is suitable for the design I picked. She said it is up to me, very blunt! She did not talk to me the whole time and I felt like I was begging for their service. At the time of payment, the owner told me I can get 20% off. I asked if I will still get my usual additional 10% off by keeping the booked appt and making the payment by cash, she was so blunt that she said she has already given me their best discount so no other discount can be applied which means, she was actually given me a 10% for the terrible work they have done which made me visited them 3 times for one regular service. The attitude from all of them was very insulting. They did not even ask me if I would book my next appt. I assume they do not want me to return. I felt terrible after I left the place, regretted that I was so kind to them for their mistake. I will have to find another place for my gel nail from now on. read more

My daughter and I go together for our manicures and I tried to book an appointment for the two of us on a Wednesday . I pick her up from the sky train at 5:00 so we could be there at the latest 5:15. When I informed the person who answered the phone that we could be there at that time she said no; the latest she would take us was 5:00. Do NOT ever book appointments with Fumi Iwahara!! This lady seriously has attitude problem!! it was my first time visiting this store, and i went with my 12 yrs old step daughter, she was doing her princess combo (manicure & pedicure), for somehow, i forgot to ask her to put on her flip flop, so in stead, she wore her Toms...Fumi saw this and ask " how is she going to do manicure if she wore shoes"? I answered "so she cannot do pedicure then?" Fumi roller her eyes and said "of course not". the lady who was doing combo for my step daughter offered "temp slipper" after 10 mins...HELLO !! FUMI..why can't you just offer the same?? during the first 30 mins..Fumi DID NOT communicate with me..all she did was chatting with other girls in Japanese..NON-Stop!! i was like..hello! can't you just update yourselves later on? Anyway..it was very BAD experience with this FUmi person... otherwise the shop looked clean and nice...so seriously..if you want to do your nails...book with other girls...they all seems very nice...and this FUMI girl is just piece of something! read more
