The composer and pianist, Ludwig van Beethoven, named after his grandfather, was born in the pink…read morehouse. When the building was up for demolition in the 1890s, a group of wealthy benefactors purchased Bonngasse 20 as well as the house next door Bonngasse 18 which now holds the largest collection of Beethoven's manuscripts in the world. The museum does a wonderful job of bringing Beethoven's day-to-day life, with displays of his string instruments, organ, piano, manuscripts, letters, contracts, and even notebooks full of his friends' side of the conversation after Beethoven lost his hearing.
The museum has a fantastic app which provides an audio tour with pictures.
