The cake we got for our wedding was spectacular, both visually and in terms of its deliciousness! We opted for a more modern style, marbled color on fondant, and the result was stunning, a great centerpiece for our wedding. To start, we had a fun and informative tasting session, during which my husband and I were able to sample 10 (!) different flavors. Kelly diligently kept track of our preferences, helping us narrow the options and ultimately pick our favorite ("Pucker Up"). She also showed us styrofoam rounds of different cake sizes to bring the proposed dimensions to life and allow us to visualize our future cake. We appreciated her suggestions for ways to stay within our budget, including supplementing our main cake with sheet cakes behind the scenes. After such a great experience early in the process, we weren't surprised that Kelly very much delivered on the day-of. She coordinated independently with our wedding planner, arrived on time, and beautifully applied the flowers provided by our florist. I am SO glad my venue had Glass Slipper Gourmet on their preferred vendors list because I truly couldn't have imagined a better cake than the one (two!) created for us by the talented Kelly. I am a cake connoisseur, so naturally having the best possible cake for our wedding was very important to me. I was pretty sure it would take many days of hunting for the right bakery, along with many tastings. Turns out, I only needed one tasting to KNOW. Kelly makes the best cakes. Period. They are so unique, perfectly fluffy and not too sweet. We used glass slipper for two cakes: one for my bridal shower and one for our wedding. The bridal shower cake was a fondant blue cake that had a ribbon across the top and a gift tag attached to it. The ribbon she used for the tag was very sloppy and knotted in an ugly manner (pointed out by many of my aunts). We were going to take the tag off but realized under it was a huge dent in the cake so decided to leave it on in the end. The top of the box was done to look like a hat box but it was not even. (see pictures). After seeing the bridal shower cake my mom and aunts wanted us to switch to a different cake vendor but my man and I decided to stick it out and assume the dents, bumps and flaws were a one time mistake. Before the wedding I had emailed my concerns about the cake and that we really wanted I make sure that the same issues did not occur. She assured us she would do everything possible to not have the same types of issues and we believed her.. I sent her a champagne ribbon that I wanted the icing to match weeks before. We were SO excited to see our cake because we had paid more for it than we had originally planned so we had high expectations. Sadly, we were disappointed. The icing was not a light gold color but rather a mustard yellow. I honestly sucked my breathe in when I saw it because I was in disbelief of the color. The icing was not centered in many places (bridal party /parents also pointed it out). The cake was in the center of the room so the portion where the ribbon overlapped was not cut evenly and was extremely noticeable. We had to angle ourselves so that it did not show up in pictures. HOWEVER, the cake was delicious. We had a white cake with dark chocolate filling and raspberry layered in there. It was mouthwatering and everyone loved the flavor and went back for seconds. 5 stars for flavor. After the event we emailed and I did explain that although we loved the taste we were not satisfied with the look at all. I did not enjoy the tone of her reply because she make me out to be a bridezilla, which I most certainly was not. My husband was not happy with the unevenness, I was not happy with the ribbon and icing color. Considering we paid a handful for the cake we did expect near perfection. We felt that the pictures we saw in her portfolio did not match the quality of work that we saw on either of the cakes we received from her. Yes, she put in many hours of work BUT her job is to make gourmet cakes and with that comes a level of perfection that is expected. I have attached pictures with arrows to show the flaws we are talking about I did forget to tell the reception to collect the cake supplies at the end of the night so they were thrown out. Kelly did tell me ahead of time that i would lose the 30-50 (i cant remember exactly how much) deposit if I did not return the items but because of my unhappiness she did not cash the check. Although this was a nice gesture I did find it odd that when you are paying close to 2k for a cake you would charge your customer for some pvc piping. But in fairness, she did inform me of this ahead of time so that was my mistake. Design 0 Average 2.5 Would I use her again or suggest her to a friend? After our May 2020 wedding was postponed, we agreed with our vendors to follow up the following year about our new date of October 16th, 2021.
