The turquoise clear waters allows you to view the reef from above via helicopter or plane, on top via boat and below via scuba or snorkel. We took a Cruise Whitsunday boat to the Heart Pontoon and spent the day scuba diving there. You can jump in with a stinger suit and snorkel as well. The reef seemed to be plenty shallow and the water is so clear, snorkeling is a great option. The heart pontoon also has underwater observatories and a semi submarine you can cruise around and enjoy the reef without getting wet. The best way to enjoy the reef is through a scuba dive! You see such amazing vibrant colors of coral and fishes! The fish aren't afraid and will swim right up to you. We had a large one just swim pass my hand and I felt it up close and personal. Amazing! The water was still pretty chilly with a stinger suit and wetsuit, but expected cause we're in the middle of the ocean. We also took a short helicopter ride from Heart Pontoon to see Heart Reef and the reef overhead, and it was totally worth it! Photos just don't do it justice!

What a stunning and beautiful place it is, and so sad to see the Great Barrier Reef bleaching and disappearing due to global warming! Prior to my arrival in Australia, I thought the Great Barrier Reef was just a short swim away from shore, but had no idea that it takes anywhere from 45 minutes up to 1.5+ Hour each way by boat to get out to the Reef! You will depart out of Cairns or Port Douglas. We reserved 2 separate catamaran snorkel tours (Reef Magic and Poseidon) to visit both the inner Reef as well as the outer Agincourt Reef. The inner Reef tour (Reef Magic) was only a 45 minute boat ride each way more for families with young children and family-friendly activities. The outer Agincourt Reef tour (Poseidon) was a more adult-oriented tour 1.5 Hour boat ride out each way on very rough waters. I will never forget the deep hue blues and greens of the Great Barrier Reef, and the plethora of colorful fish and underwater life we saw. The most memorable part was meeting our Aussie friend, a super friendly Maori Wrasse swim right up to us like a puppy! If you are an outdoor adventurist and can visit the Great Barrier Reef before it disappears, go! It's so sad how global warming is depleting this natural beauty. I am so grateful my husband and I got to see and swim in the Great Barrier Reef in our lifetime. Tip: the waters are very, very rough in the Great Barrier Reef. I along with many other tourists got seasick. Make sure you take your seasickness medication before the boat ride, and bring any meds needed to make the long boat ride a pleasant experience.

FYI, the bus is within the building of Bondi Junction above the train station not street side. Reminds me of some of the cliffs along the beaches of California. Some tips. Bring swimming trunk, lotion, sun protection, and water bottle. There are refill stations along the way and bathrooms. Not much shade even on this cloudy day. Multiple beaches along the route where you can take a dip. Restaurants are also accessible, but I prefer a picnic lunch so you can enjoy the views with the plenty benches and the beaches. Some have some shady seating options. I went on a weekday so I'm guessing on weekends more crowds. The beaches often have showers and restrooms.

We did pay extra to have a Koala close up experience and it was so worth it! You get to see beautiful koalas up close without touching them as not to disturb them. Before arriving in Sydney, I researched Circular Quay's Sydney Ferry time schedules, routes, SINGLE ticket cost (as opposed to getting their multi-use and pre-paid Opal card), and which wharf direct to Taronga Zoo we'd depart from, and found that the one-way 12-minute ferry ride would only cost us $8.80 AUD or about $6.20 USD per person. The 12-minute ferry ride docked at the base of the Taronga Zoo, where public motor coaches were waiting to take passengers up to the top entrance. However, we also knew we could enter the zoo through its lower entrance, which was a scant 3-minute walk from the ferry wharf. We felt that it would be better on our legs to ride up to the top and walk down the zoo trails to exit than to walk uphill through the zoo. After passing through the Main entrance, we stood in line to get our admission tickets, then walked in and browsed the souvenir shop for memorabilia and to support their conservation efforts. The Taronga Zoo features Australian wildlife and exotic animals from around the world. I think I remember reading somewhere that this zoo houses about 4,000 animals from more than 350 species, and that walking the zoo trails takes about 3 hours or more because you'll make stops to enjoy the animals. We started our walk through the Australian animals trail, then continued down to the red pandas, Pygmy hippos, water buffaloes, and seals before exiting through the Lower Entrance. Unfortunately, their Sky Safari cable car has been closed since 2023, but they expect their new and improved cable car system to be operating soon. I've seen videos about the cable car system, and they remind me of our visits to the San Diego Zoo.

Well, not quite since this place is…read moremonumentally huge, and it is absolutely impossible to pretty much explore every nook and crany in the limited amount of time that was available to me, but I did get a decent chance to wander around a large part of it, and at least say that I have been to Centenial Park, or at least more than just running in there and looking for a toilet. They do have barbeque areas, and quite a few of them, but they also have lakes, and just plain old good parkland to wander around.

I rode a bike through here on the many improved trails that crisscross through this public space. Through here, there were teams practicing rugby, enough bicyclists to start a biker gang, joggers, runners, and people who were out to just take in the sunshine. As you cross through this park, you find lots of green open spaces large enough to play a full game of rugby, without running into a park bench or a tree. There's restrooms available. My favorite thing about this park is the huge stone gates at each entrance that remind you that you're entering an important public space. There's monuments throughout the park, and plenty of parking! I felt safe riding through here, just due to the sheer number of people who were out having a stroll in the park!
