We first visited in 2021 when Glenn's Creek was the only distillery open after a long drive. We signed up for a tour that day. We had a great time with a super small group learning about the distillery and location. Visiting again in December 2025, we did not check the website- so do that, check the website. We were still able to pick up some things we were out of and wave hello before leaving, but unfortunately no repeat tour (our fault completely). Obviously, based on our first visit, we have and will visit again. While it may have changed, we were able to take our "tour/tasting" right in the distilling space. The shop is really tiny, I would say about 5-7 people max could be visiting at once. We did a tasting, it was a little overpriced but cool to be in the old crow distilling site. Do not let looks deceive you. Dave, the owner, purchased the abandoned Old Crow distillery and has created a unique place that is all substance over style. They make a small but growing portfolio of unique bourbons and other spirits, and our tasting (led by Dave) was a first rate combination of bourbon history, distilling science and humor. So...never heard of this distillery until a buddy of our son found out we were heading to the area and stated, "Go here and make sure you try Cafe Ole." So that's what we did, arranged a couple spots for a tasting and I'd like to admit that was one of the best tastings I've ever been to. We drove by the entrance because it simply didn't seem like a customer parking lot but after seeing folks walking out of the door on top of steps, we were like, 'this must be it!' As soon as you walk in the door, you do four that you are in the 'shopping area' and it's maybe the size of your kitchen at home? So I'd refer to this as quaint or unique but in an endearing way. I'd read about keeping the judgement in the car and this is a statement that truths true. It's for sure not the newest/shiniest place on the block but the folks running the place are just so nice. They treated us like family, you simply cannot say the same for other distilleries. David(our tasting guru & just so happens to own the place) is incredibly open and informative about not only the spirits he creates but can talk about everything in the area and newsworthy. He is incredibly personable. We got to try what seemed to be about everything listed and every one of them was flavorful, unique and left you thinking. Just like David. I enjoyed every minute of the tasting, the food we sat at the bar with were super nice and from all over the US. If you are planning on going to Frankfort. A great distillery. We saw signs for it the day before when we went to castle and key. We had a mixology class booked at Woodford and made a stop at Glenns Creek before that. I had a tasting and enjoyed it a lot. They really are bourbon with out the bs. I got me a bottle of their Hamilton smoke as I also love peated scotch. Having been to a lot of the distillery tours on the Bourbon Trail I was beginning to have concerns about my ability to discern the differences in propriety yeast. Dave straighten me out with his no BS explanations. His powerpoint presentation is very helpful. Be careful not to touch his lazy susan of bourbon bottles, he's very protective. :) Don't miss the Glenn Creek tour, it's the most informative on the trail. This place is awesome. You're immersed in the distillery sampling some great spirits talking about bourbon history with David the owner. If you looking for the Disney World type of place this is not it. It's a small quaint space in the Old Crow factory. The bourbons did not disappoint either. Cool old distillery and property. The owner Dave did our tasting and he was hysterical. Very dry and wry sense of humor which we all loved although some people might not understand. As it was, we stayed well over our allotted time and would've stayed longer if it wasn't the last tasting of the day. Really enjoyed the bourbon, we all bought a couple of bottles. Stopped in here to do a tasting. Tom on the bar was phenomenal! Friendly and had so much knowledge to share. The flight was reasonable so we got one each and tried all they had. 6 different whiskies and ryes. I kinda liked the a-maize-ing C.O.B. The most. I think their motto says it all - Bourbon without the BS. A very down to earth distillery. Small in scale but large in passion. Located in an old distillery itself, the ambiance is part warehouse and part old school distillery. We stopped by and had a tasting the staff was very knowledgeable and gave open opinions. If you're looking for an intimate experience and perhaps a break from the craziness of the mega distilleries, I couldn't recommend this place enough. We were in a small group, sat down for a tasting with David, the owner/master distiller, and learned a lot of fascinating stories about his background, the facility, and of course his amazing bourbon. If you're reading this, ignore the haters. They obviously came in with a closed mind, no respect, and no sense of humor. Tbh, the hater's reviews on here were a big reason my wife and I visited, because to us it meant that the owner must have been passionate about his craft, and that - he was. Tiny distillery that was the surprise of our bourbon trail journey. We visited Castle and Key, located just next door, and decided to see what this tiny distillery next door was all about. It is a small rickety building. Absolutely no street draw. Tiny tasting room. Their slogan is "Bourbon without the BS". This was one of my favorite selection of bourbons on our trip! They offer an all corn bourbon "A-maize-ing Cob" which is super smooth...not complex in flavor but crazy smooth. My favorite was the "Cafe Ole" which roasts the brewers malt (technique used to make Porter and stout beer) to bring a super amazing chocolate flavor!!! Don't expect a show. Don't expect a beautiful distillery with pristinely landscaped grounds. Don't expect to pay for the opportunity to taste their bourbon to determine what you want to buy. Don't expect any BS. DO EXPECT SOME BOURNON CREATIVITY LIKE YOU RARELY FIND. Do plan to buy some bottles because you won't find this tiny distillery distributed when you go back home. read more

We have yet to do a tour but we have stopped here on both our trips to the KBT and have enjoyed the tastings and bought several products. I first bought a bottle of SWHEAT to bring home and still kick myself for not grabbing the original Honey offering. This time I had to get the OCD #5 and the Staves & Barrels because I was able to try them several times. This is craft distilling and the results are fabulous. Next time a tour for sure. We did a tasting for $8 and you get to try 3 diff spirits based on what you may like. We got a bonus 4th tasting. The woman who assisted us was great and informative. The place is interesting from the outside. It has so much potential, but needs some serious money invested. The customer service was lacking, but she could of been having a bad day. This is not a place to stroll the grounds or get fancy cocktails, but a really good place to begin a bourbon tour & compare.
