You can choose from the guided farm tour with afternoon tea, garden tour, gourmet BBQ dinner, and other activities based on the season. We chose the guided farm tour with afternoon tea. After disembarking the ship, a guide will direct you where to go depending on what you booked. Our first stop was the afternoon tea, and wow, I suggest you don't fill up on the ship because there was a very nice variety of scones, sandwiches, baked items, coffee, tea, and etc. Definitely enough for a meal! Everything was good. Coffee was good! After the meal, you had some time to walk around until the tour starts. The tour was fantastic. Our guide was really informative and upbeat. We had opportunities to meet and feed many farm animals--cattle, sheep, alpacas, goats, and pigs. But not too sure about putting your entire hand into the cattle's mouth to feed it. Wish I was a kid, so I'd find it fun and interesting rather than weird and disgusting lol. The farm is maintained quite well. Even the animals seemed cleaner than what I've experienced. Next was the Sheep Show where you got to see farm dogs herd sheep, and a live demonstration of sheep sheering. Fresh wool anyone? Yes, you can take it with you if you want. The whole tour was roughly 3.5 hours, and you'll have time to visit the gift shop before the ship arrives. You'll hear the horn when it's time to board. Overall, this was an interesting experience, and definitely recommended and a fun addition your TSS Earnslaw cruise. The staff is really friendly and upbeat. Where else can you stick your hand into the mouth of a cattle, and take home super fresh off the sheep wool?

We received a lot of education around the agriculture on the farm, herding, sheep, and the meat! The buffet was fantastic! It offered a lot of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options! If you love meat, like I do, you'll absolutely love this place. They had so much seafood and meat you could ever imagine. I really enjoyed learning about how the dogs heard the sheep on the farm. It's truly a unique business and I would 10 out of 10 recommend anybody go to the farm!

We had an excellent view of the lake and a large patio. We especially enjoyed the convenience of the mini-bar and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant also provided excellent food and service for us on site. They have a shuttle that runs back and forth to downtown every hour, so we did not have to pay for ride shares or cabs.

Kitchen and living room were spacious and everything was very clean. There are heated floors in the bathroom and heated towel racks. The washer and dryer were very good. Service: Front desk service was hit or miss. We checked in twice after spending one night in Te Anau. Some of the staff were friendly and some were stoic. We were unable to eat at the restaurant because it was booked up but the bar menu was delicious and we were able to enjoy the view while eating. They held our luggage for us several times. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever come back. The view is gorgeous and the spacious apartment was lovely.

My visit to Milford Sound was the most magical day of my New Zealand trip. From the air, it looks like a green and blue jewel amongst the mountains, and from the water, its towering peaks are overwhelming. Milford Sound is part of Fiordland National Park, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. It was discovered by Europeans in 1812 but was known to Maori for centuries, who considered it a sacred place. You must fly. You must cruise. You must see this place.

This is a must do if you are visiting the South Island of New Zealand. The staff was super friendly. They have coffee, soda, wine, beer, even champagne on board. They are happy to help if you need. The rooms are a bit tired looking. It's probably been a few decades since the decor has been refreshed. There's coffee and tea in the room. The bed is comfortable but the pillows aren't. USB ports would be a great addition these days. WiFi is free for guests, so that's great. Breakfast is nice. There's a omelette station and multiple hot options. Various breads, pastries, and few weird ethnic options (like miso soup and chow mein). I do love the apple juicer. Takes a bit of work, but it's fun. Staff is friendly and everyone is happy to help when you need it.

It took about 5 minutes to get to the heart of shopping centers, restaurants, and cruise ships. Room seemed so nice and clean. Not that we used it, but we were surprised that there was a bathtub - first one after 15 days in Australia! And ... a first for us: Heated towel rack! Oooh, on a cold day or after a shower, it feels so good against the skin! One item that is missing are electrical outlets near the beds - they're across the room! Why doesn't a hotel place electrical outlets by each bedside? Another problem: if you are using an electrical converter, many of the outlets are very close to the "On/Off" button, so if you push the converter too high and/or high, it's turned off! You'd think that the "On/Off" button would be positioned higher so the electrical converter would affect it, Breakfast was about 'normal' for hotel - nothing unusual or outstanding. Service people were very friendly and helpful.

Did the tour with Pure Milford tours…read more I feel like all of these tours are probably very similar, so maybe go with what is cheapest. In the case of Pure Milford, they had a nice double enclosed deck boat (large windows on each deck + a top deck that's open to the elements). The day I went was terrible weather (captain said it rains "433 days a year" so...) and I was worried I would get soaked prior to leaving. If you want to stay in the inner deck at a table and just view the sights from the climate controlled interior, you can. The tour itself is 1:45 which is about right. Everyone, especially the kids, were over it after the turnaround at the Tasmanian Sea which was interesting because had choppy waters leading to and big-ish swells when close to open water. The crew was awesome. The captain was funny. He brought all the dad jokes you could want. Soaked people at a waterfall which I'm sure is a schtick that other companies do. They offer a free bagged lunch when I went and unlimited coffee? Maybe you had to purchase? I'm not sure. Anyway, delightful trip despite the weather. But the good thing about the bad weather mean lots of waterfalls so that's your trade off. Protip: there are 2-3 paid parking lots (maybe 1/4-1/2 miles away) if you drive yourself to Milford Sound that fill up very quickly for the tours around noon. When I was leaving at 2pm, they weren't as full for the afternoon cruises. So just be aware and leave yourself plenty of time for the walk (15 min from the paid parking). There is an overflow unpaid parking lot sort of down by the water and a mile away. There is a trail you follow that'll take you right to the port buildings so don't be afraid to park there if you don't see any other spaces. For what it's worth, I would 100% recommend staying in Te Anau & driving the 2 hours (one way) to Milford Sound rather than 3+ hours from Queenstown. Gas up in Te Anau because there is no gas stations after that town.
